Fantastic playing, really nice. That main lick he does; from viewing I can see you're doing 4 note 2per string maj7 or whatnot but he actually tap 4 note per string for that lick. Sure the notes are the same, but iit sounds a lot more different when tapped.

Of course, she's not going to look like that when she would perform live. You're right, image is everything. She will have a more fitting musician's wardrobe to make her stand out and look like a star of course. But that's the least of someone's worries. The important thing now is to get proficient enough in playing guitar that you won't get boooed off stage regardless of how good you look on stage. Yes, image is important but guitar skill is much more important.

My gripe with what he posted was that he claimed that her being just a guitarist wasn't enough, like she had to be more female, dress sexier to "appeal" more to men. Why do you think that something like that is STILL ok on this day and age ? It's like the german female soccerplayers being in playboy, sure they're both pretty and sexy but what does it do for their credibility as athletes ? Nothing and it hurts gender equality even more as do things like this imo.

I think it's great! And hats off to you for playing that slippery lick (1:23) with sweeping and picking. But that's the hard way...the "Govanor" plays it using tapping and string-skipping. Give it a shot!

I think there is something in what arsguitarrica says about the mic and the dynamics because Guthrie is really hard to nail on that one.

The thing is though that with his numbers, you can really add your own interpretation (which starts with the guitar sound e.g Fender sounds different from PRS). You can also be individual in your plucking and fingering technique (stop it. lol !!).

You will get better and better. Well done Nili for your really gutsy effort ! Done this; now try Fives.

Some constructive criticism.

Is there any way you can get better sound? I am sure it is just your cam mic but it sounds really quiet and strange and I think it takes away from your playing a bit.

Also if you REALLY want to nail Govan-style songs you HAVE to learn his dynamics. I think it's his dynamics and his creativity that really set him apart. Really crack down and get down his perfect vibrato and legato.
