great video i used one of those when i work on the race track i would wash my horses bandages and saddle towels and other landruy i allso would wash my clothes with it and they do work better then anything else out there good prepping and i am learning alot from these videos
I've been washing all my clothes by just soaking them overnight in detergent+water and rinse them and hang them to dry. Period. Agitation is only to make it look like washing machines are necessary.
@LDSPrepper If you do this it's better to wash small quantities more often than let the dirty laundry accumulate. This way the work of rinsing in several waters and squeezing and hanging won't take too much time nor energy and you won't be repelled by the chore.
It is cheaper to get a commode plunger cheaper. All u have to do is drill 3 large quarter size holes .Take 5 gal bucket and lid.Saw a hole in the middle of lid that will fit plunger handle and use it like a butter churn.
That's crazy. First of all, you can wash your clothes by putting them in a large plastic jar and rolling it or putting it on the runners of a rocking chair or in the back of your car while you drive it. Modern detergents don't require much agitation, which is why modern washers are wobble plate or horizontal axis. Second, you would be better off hanging your clothes dry than putting them through a wringer. These people are theorists.
@jeremystanford I didn't think they disrespected Mexico at all. I took what they said as saying we should "open our mind" and realize that different techniques will still get good results. Most people that I talk to about this (hand washing laundry with a plunger like device) are horrified and would never want to do it. But the plunger (actually called a rapid washer) is the 'best' plunger available but other things work as well.
The mobile washer, a 5 gallon bucket and the commercial salad spinner is such a great idea for getting outside the need to use laundromats or buy a washing machine. The clothes get cleaner too.
Forgive me for not getting it, but I don't get it! The plunger just looks like a plastic cone on the end of a stick. What's so special about it? The demonstration just didn't convince me that a regular stick can't do the same thing. Simply paying for a piece of plastic to swish clothes around seems kind of like a waste of money.
@RestoreLatterHouse I guess you would have to try it in order to see the difference. Just save your money and use a stick.Or save your money and use a toilet plunger.
I'm curious if you store powdered or liquid laundry detergent. While both have their pros and cons I've found the liquid seems to separate or get gooey after a couple of years. Also, another must have item for TSHTF washday is a couple good stiff brushes to brush the really dirty clothing before putting them into the 'washer'.
I had a friend who actually done her laundry this way for many years, and sometimes her and the children would actually stomp it with there feet. It came very clean. and the children slept good at night...Good video/:-)
You guys are truly prepared , thanks again for the information and links . We saw the tubs this weekend at Tractor Supply for 18 dollars . My wife is all gung-ho on making our own soap , but dreads the thought of hanging the clothes out to dry , go figure ...
I checked out the links lots of neat things when you don't have power and to stay alive in all conditions.Added to my favorites and a thumbs up.Thanks for sharing.Tec
We have a nearly new mop bucket wringer a neighbor was throwing out because someone left it at his rental property, also have one of those plungers, they work surprisingly well, better then a regular toilet plunger. Washing clothing, one of the most overlooked prep items among preppers.

@ellie3637 We have three galvanized steel tubs, for a few years. So far none have rusted. We use them in our garden.

Heads up,,,,,,,DO NOT use a toilet plunger !!!!
Pants will tare the rubber up.Go with the Hand
Washers like one or a copper one.
You can use a 5 gallon bucket with a hole cut
into the lid is you don`t have a tub.It is cheaper
but you are limited on the amount of laundry you
can wash.
Just my take !
