@SuperBebegun I must admit i'm one of those 'old people' (i'm 43)! I expected this to be shit, but it was actually very good. I'm imnpressed, and I agree without it brings this movie to a new audience. It doesn't have the same visual impact but it's very realistic and in all details and acting and characterization is excellent. Pleasantly surpised to see they did not whitewash the Christiannelements out of it, and even carried a strong message of forgiveness which the original lacked.

I haven't seen this yet. I'm from Germany and it will be aired in german tv in some days. I hope I can watch it without comparing it with the original from 1959. But I have to admit that I watched the version of 1959 the first time some days ago. Just because of this remake. The version of 1959 is classic and I wanted to know it before watching the new film. But anyway, I just love Joseph Morgan. He's so great in "The Vampire Diaries"

It was just broadcast in Canada a couple of months ago. Not bad for a $25 million TV production, but it could have been much much better. The producers should have scraped up another $10 mill or so.

The acting was passable, but the writing left a lot to be desired. Lots of innacurcies too, most notably some names. Judah's late father, Ithamar was renamed Jacob, and his mother from Miriam to Ruth. I don't know why they changed so many things. Happens in a lot of movies.
