The 'good times' for our economy are due to the mining boom. The Australian Economy has experienced growth for the last 16 years - not just the last 11 years. The problem with your argument is that it just doesn't stack up against economic scrutiny. have you gone out and bought 'Ozonomics' like I suggested? What needs to be understood is the source of Australia's recent Economic Prosperity. Where is it all coming from? China, India - 2 rapidly growing economies, whose insatiable demand for raw materials has fed Australia's Mining Boom - which is why our Economy has been growing for the last 16 years. Not because Howard/Costello waved some kind of magic wand, or cast some kind of fiscal spell. Rudd and Swan have about as much chance of fucking up our Mining Boom as Howard and Costello. None!!

By 'good times' I presume you mean our raging Economy? If that is so, then understanding that the Mining Boom is what has largely fueled our out of control Economy, then the job of the government is to ensure that money is invested in developing the indutries of the future, and ensuring that the wealth is evenly and fairly distibuted to the entire Australian community, based on need, so that everyone gets a share of 'the good times' - not just a few of us.
