@Yayap100 uh no...? that wouldn't make any sense historically they wouldn't use testudo for that, they would use shield wall which is similar to testudo but instead you put your spears out - in a similar fashion used to repel cavalry.

Depending on whether this was pre or post and judging by the armor post Marius reform, they them selves would not have carried any thrusting spear. A Roman legion would fight Cavalry by standing in a firm solid formation as horses will not charge into a solid mass the charges tried to inducefleing. Even then the actual legionaries would not start the fight it would be auxilleries

No thrusting spear eh? no shit, it's called pilum - in the case of a cavalry charge they form ranks (a shield wall) AND put their spears - javelins - out in a fashion mimicking greek phalanx until the cavalry charge is repelled, once the horses won't charge home, they (the legionaries) stab up at horse or man.

Medival2: alright, unit mechanics started to go bad.

Empire/Napoleon: real time battles were not really fun anymore, improvements like the motioncaptured 1 v1 scenes in huge battles messed up movement and clipping badly and they didnt even look good.

shogun2: managed to make the battles feel even more numb and uncontrollable! although they introduced a consequent rock paper scissor system.

i hope they get it right in rome2. a simple system + direct controlls

the only difference is on this vid every attack is a special kill and stab, but on medieval only sometimes does it happen. but not everytime. normaly its just bashing like they do on rome. even then some of the attacks are a bit off.

of course, but its a very buggy game tho, i dont play it as much as i play rome or medieval 2. you can read up on what people say about it in interviews and stuff, in my opinion it has way to many bugs to even be released yet. besides you need a realy good computer to play it. for example, even before your faction discovers bayonets your units will still stab like they have a bayonet on their rifle. but if your a true total war fan, youl buy the game and hope they come out with more patches.

a developer said he was too embaressed to send his copies to friends. i can't blame him. but it's still a fun game if you look past the multiple bugs, glitches, lagging (for normal computer users), and the occasional crash when it's most inconvenant. i hear they are making 1 more patch for the game and then moving on. so hopefully it fixes most of the problems.
