Wow! Real green people! With all those windows and they still have to run lights? Really energy consious. And 2 people live in a freeekin 4000 square house??? Green my aaarse!
Geothermal doesnt work unless you are sitting on a gyser or hot springs. They got sucked in! What they wont discuss is their heating bill with all those windows and the heat loss.
Sounds like there plumbing/hvac guys really soaked these people.
Those are some pretty inaccurate statements you make about geothermal heating and cooling there 111dcormack, perhaps you should educate yourself on the technology. I'm assuming if I decided to give you the facts you wouldn't listen to me anyways...
@111dcormack Geothermal works just fine without hot springs, it uses the earths constant temperature as a way to transfer heat when it's hot in the summer and cool in the winter to regulate the temperature inside the home. And those windows are part of the design, they allow the sun to shine in and warm up the home in the winter and in the summer the design of the roof doesn't allow the sun to come into the home.
Good lord people this was uploaded 2 years ago on this channel, who knows how much older the actual video is (the award was in 2000) - give them a break on the vid production.
I am trying to learn how to do things like this. Whats the most effecient way I can afford. However there r no captions for Deaf ppl so we get left in the dark.
this all sounds so good BUT you have to be rich to afford to waste this much money. It would take over 80 years to pay off what this couple wasted on all of this crap. So FAIL!
For the amount of money, effort, and ingenuity that was placed in making this house efficient, they should have done the same regarding the quality of this video. NEXT TIME, HIRE THE PROFESSIONALS!!!!
Yeah. Yeah. Everyone is right. When I first started reading the comments, before viewing the video, I was like "that's pretty rude." They are right, though. After viewing it, I know what they mean. It is great content and the house is awesome. Great design and construction. The production of the video is somewhat less as good as the content.
a vocational auto teacher put a stainless 3500 gal tank 8 ft deep two drain-down solar collectors 35% glycol and a "4-ton" GT unit on his EXISTING baseboard of 180 ft fin tube which maxed at 126 degrees, compressor whining cycled off on COLD side to solar hybrid on occasion still running since 1981... central Ohio (it only absoarbed ~ 70% of what a usual GT does from the system)
Please feel free to see "ARKANSAS SIMPLE" (patented 1980, now up) "How to heat hot water" SIMULTANEOUSLY in and out of Cooling or goes back to Heat mode in ~2 hours if space heat calls. And HYDRONIC 4th function is in (view?) for radiators and in-floor. 1-800-382-3113 over 30 years !
4Synergy (tm) is also having 4th Priority Radiant Heat for floors~~~~~~ NEW (2nd is 4.1/2 min) VID at gtJONgeo
@Haddow VI: For you information, my comment was not one of hate, it's meant as constructive criticism to produce better videos in the future.

The guitar music is a distraction to your informative video, especially when people are speaking!

LMAO! 7 mins, the first chunk taken up by 'credits' - as if it's a feature movie - and the video is a terrible home job!
Pity, as the message of having an off the grid home is a great one that needs to be spread.
