  • I know you guys have done lots of soups and was wondering if you could make a soup with leeks and garlic in it? My friend did research on them and they are really good for you when your sick,so why not put them together? It would be great for me because I get sick quite often.

  • Just a tip with the matzo balls, when forming them try not to roll them. When you roll them you press all of the air space out of them. Instead, try just lightly compacting them to make more "round matzo blobs" as opposed to small balls. They will be much lighter and fluffier this way. Many years cooking Passover Seder with Jewish Mothers and Grandmothers has taught me this haha. :)

  • I have my own matzo ball chicken soup recipe. I'm so sure mine is just as good as yours. My sister & i don't go a winter with out it. Actually i use matzo my sister doesn't either way it's delicious.

  • @LarryBundyJr just make sure that once you have handled the chicken wash your hands before you touch any pan handles or utensils. Then clear down properly whilst your stock it cooking.

  • you don't put parsnips in chicken soup, you maybe put celery and definitely onions.

  • Remember to wash your hands straight away after touching raw meat guys - bacteria gets transfered to knife and pan handles and then continues to be transfered around the kitchen!!!!!

    Have you ever done a video outlining things to look out for? You could cover best way to store meat etc in the fridge, temperature needed for fridge, different chopping boards and knives for meat and veg, keeping cloths clean, etc list is endless. You'd be surprised how few people know the basics of food hygiene!!

  • I'm one quarter Jewish, and my granny would always make the most horrible 'Jewish Penicillan' (chicken soup) when I was ill [always around winter, and always when she came to visit =S] so I had a slight fear of this recipe.

  • @rhythmspiral It's great with just the egg noodles and even that is a meal in itself... but the matzo balls are awesome... especially little bite-sized ones like the ones we made.

  • Aaah yes, I recognize this meal. The Cafe (a restaurant in my college town) actually had this all the time, billed as "Ultimate Jewish Penicillin". I don't know what it is, but it just makes you feel good. But the difference between your recipe and theirs was that your matzo balls are nice and bite-sized, but The Cafe made them the size of baseballs.

  • the matzo balls look wayyy too 'thick' or 'solid.' They need to be lighter and fluffier to taste the best. The way my mom does it is she puts some sparkling water in the mix before she sits the (hem hem) 'dough' in the fridge.
