yes, because of their nasal passages in their faces being scrunched they have breathing issues. Same with other dogs of the same sort like boston terriers, etc.

yeah its sad. english bulldogs used to look much different and were much healthier. they were bred to look the way they do today and its caused a lot of health problems.

you are confusing a bulldogs' difference in breathing from long-snouted dogs with a decline in their quality of life from a long snouted dog. There really isn't a difference in a bulldogs' quality of life because of the way they breathe. The biggest problem is people who breed bulldogs strictly for the money they will bring in who don't really care if the dogs they are breeding have an extreme breathing condition. There is a BIG difference in resonsible dog breeding and breeding just for cash.

My bulldog would have been scared to death of that toy and ran like hell. Bless his heart he is such a scardy cat and I don't understand why. We have NEVER EVER hit him in anyway and raised him from a puppy. I worry about him somtimes.. he is scared of the wheel on "Wheel of Fortune"... but he sure is precious!! I love bulldogs!!1

It's typical bulldog nature, they get freaked out really easily. I'm pretty sure you didn't have anything to do with the way he reacts. My dog will bark and be scared of anything she doesn't recognize from a new potted plant to a laundry basket.
