The show when Trebek did the pilot was done at ABC Los Angeles and called M'ama Non M'ama, and not done in French, even though Alex speaks French. Was considered as a replacement for Dawson Feud at the time, but they picked up All-Star Blitz in 1985 and replaced Feud with reruns of Angie.
I use to watch the Bonus Round on this show before. I never seen the contestant win the game or the lady catches the man. You only get 40 seconds in the game to catch her and its NOT enough time. This is also a hard game to play as well.
Game TV (IGameTV.*com) now airs 'Just Like Mom', that use to air on YTV when the channel first launched in 1988, weekdays at Noon (Eastern). WOO-HOO!!! Fergie Oliver (host).
Something that was remarkable was all these "factoids" they had to find BEFORE the invention of the Internet. Amazing. The British version had a MUCH bigger daisy wheel. lol Kind of scary. But this had a better theme song (not cheesy).
and i think they played for 45 seconds for some time too. and that's such an awkward payoff isn't $100 per square the long way, and Ross would have given the guy whatever was left over of the $700 so if he had just missed one and not answered the rest of the round he would have still won $100 for doing nothing.
They're re-running this on GameTV in Canada (rebranded CGTV), it's a pretty good show actually, I have been watching it almost every weekend at work since the channel started
The round is called "the chase around the daisy," or so I think. Regardless of its outcome, the panelist would become the next game's challenger. I thought awarding $100 per space lengthwise was unusual, but awkward.
So if you're a bit bad and get within 4 of the other person, you only lose $400 instead of $700 for just missing by one?
What a weird system.

a program in Italy paid homage to this show by inviting the singer of the original theme.

that's really not enough questions for the player to have a fair shake at winning

couldn't you miss 3 questions lol and then be on the same step

It did happen at least once during the show's run ... even Ross Schafer couldn't believe it.

I heard something that Alex Trebek actually hosted the pilot for this show, except its title was in French for some reason.
bluebear1985 3 years ago
that's true only the title was Italian: M'ama Non M'ama (pronounced mama no mama) but translated that's love me love me not.

According to the early rules, the bonus game lasted for 50 seconds (later 45), so I guess they shortened the time to make it harder.

if she had ended up catching him then the round would end immediately correct?
Wheeloffortunefan999 4 years ago
how many questions did ross say there were? 11?
Wheeloffortunefan999 4 years ago
so apparently this is not winnable if you miss just one question, as he barely caught up to her before time ran out.. ridiculous :p

Well, actually I've seen this round won twice. But that was when the contestant got 50 seconds instead of 40.

About the brand new car given away on this short-lived game show, was it always a Pontiac Fiero?

That's a horrible rule. The closer he gets to her, the more SHE gets if he fails?

I thought that the woman would have received $100 because the man was one step behind her.
