@xombieBeast13 LOL Where do you think Iron Maiden got their inspiration? Ever wonder how many times Steve Harris saw Lizzy growing up? And why do you think he has (or has had) a mirrored pick guard on HIS bass... Philip Lynott, that's why!
Would love to find the album that this was on, as TL's BBC sessions were extremely rare - and extremely good. Case in point: the first "Peel Sessions" album, and that particular cut of "Whiskey in the Jar" is nothing short of spectacular.
@furyen1976 there's always gonna be some berk who comes across a video on accident and then thinks they have an opinion on it, no sane rock lover would ever thumb this down... probably a GaGa fan.
Beyond talented these guys played like the rent was due!! The drumming is off the charts, but the guitars are just so crunchy and venomous that I need to press replay again.
i can't stop listening to this Robbo is hugely underated just adore him and his guitar - everytime i saw them live he never played the same solo twice always different which were amazing - miss Lizzy so much.....
I have come back to this recording a few times now and the thing I like the most about it, is the very real period capture in the recording. It is so obviously around the time of the Jailbreak album that it almost has a more real live capture of Lizzy at that time than L&D offers. Brilliant! Jailbreak was always my favorite album.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Downey is amongst the best drummers on the planet (my personal all time fave) and so underrated Thanks Ry for a superb post as per usual :)
Well said bro! Downey is exceptional, how he is not better known stumps me. Listen to 'Sha la la' from Nightlife or Live & Dangerous and then name me a better double kick drummer! . . . the guy just did not miss a beat. Awesome
Downey could *swing* better than ANY other rock drummer I know. Listen to "For Those Who Love to Live" for a good example, or even the much-derided "Fats" from "Renegade."
Like Lizzy itself, Downey was criminally underrated.
I always loved this song but this version is a killer,I like the way Brian Robertson plays the solo here better than the one on Live & Dangerous album, awesome version,5***** & a Favorite, thnx for sharing this gem man!
If anyone on the uk is interested in these demo/session tracks i can send a data dvd of flac files with all the stuff i have. Its stuff from 69-83 and its all good stuff, and most in pretty good quality.
I'd be very interested, but how would you go about it. I've got the 'Peel Sessions' CD, and this doesn't seem to be the same version of Warriors, but I like it better - are there other versions?
