Ripper has as much power as anyone in music, but I find his mid-range is too gruffy, and toneless.  I still think he's the best overall metal singer alive, but I wish he would put as much effort into his phrasing as his highs.

You have to give Tim Owens credit, he's been a singer in 2 of some of the best Metal bands, 1st Judas Priest, then Iced Earth. Stepping into Rob Halfords shoes was big, he did a pretty good job in JP, then he had to step into Matt Barlows shoes which was also a big step. Owens did a better job in Judas Priest b/c his singing was more of JP style, but he didn't do too well in IE b/c they were a heavier band, and his voice isn't as menacing in Barlows. Halford and Barlow are Metal Gods!
