This is a really ingenious idea! Who wouldve thought that instead of throwing trash in landfills or anywhere else, it'd be used to make a SCHOOL??? wow. This is amazing GOD bless!
Thanks for this inspiring video, and for overseeing this extremely worthwhile project to begin with. I'd love to get the Manual you are working on. Perhaps you can inform us on this site of how we can get a copy. Hugs to you all.
Brazil definitely needs some of those bottle schools, seriously, i live in Brazil and i'd like to know if there are any project of hugitforward coming here.
Looking at it from an engineering point of view, it's pretty ingenious. It's a structure built on a wood and steel frame with half-concrete walls. The bottles shouldn't just be taking up space, but they can handle a lot of downward force as well. Of course pure concrete would be stronger, but this is an extremely cash-efficient method of construction. My big question is whether they're concerned about insulation or harsh weather conditions, and how they account for those.
@blahinthe Because of the bottles, we use far less cement than we would using traditional cinder-block construction - there is only a thin layer of cement on each side of the bottle walls. It is therefore cheaper. Building bottle schools also helps clean up the trash in a community - but, much more important than that, it educations a generation of kids about the impact they have on the environment.

I don't get it, what's the point of the bottles? Insulation or foundation to put the cement over?
