@shineboxmedia It works the same way plagiarism works. If you put this video up without any reference to its creator, youre basically saying that the creation was yours. However, if you make full disclosure that it is not yours, and someone elses and that you are acting more as a conduit between the creator and the observer, than you have no grounds for having your video removed. Unless there is another loophole they exploit to bring the video down.

What is your definition?

@jordandaniels7 That's not how it works at all. In some instances of fair use, where you're using their material for purposes of education, news, review, or to make a new work, it's permissible as long as you're not selling it. But to simply download it and put it on youtube where the original content creator can't profit from their intellectual property is piracy. Period. It's theft. I'm a documentary filmmaker and TV producer and have had to wade in these issues plenty. Trust me.

How do they make it work that teaching someone with a piece of media and someone enjoying a piece of a media for no intellectual benefit are so different?

@jordandaniels7 Because you need to alter it significantly and be lecturing over it or using it as a small example. I think the law even sets out specific percentages.
