The sex scenes in that film are so damn pornographic that they should have included squirting and a cum shot in her face. Also include the Chinese translation of George Carlin's 7 words you can't use on TV. Shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker, and tit.
@sheltv100 Someone else suggested that you grow up. I doubt you have what it takes to do that. Do us all -- beginning with yourself -- a favor: show us you know how to go away.
I've always enjoyed and love Ang Lee's films but this by far is my favorite he has developed and made. I hope to see more of Tang Wei as well...she is truely a talented actress....not too bad to look at either.
Great movie. I watched it to get some exposure for my Mandarin class, and I ended up thinking that it was one of the ten best movies I've ever seen. I also came away with a crush on Tang Wei :)
Ops sorry,I knew that, but since Tony Leung starred on this film,I considered it as a Hong Kong film. But Taiwanese/HongKong/Chinese films are better than Bolly wood.
Tang Wei is nominated for the Orange Rising Star Award at this year's BAFTA Film Awards. You decide who wins. Visit our You Tube channel to view the other nominees and find out how to vote.
The film is a masterpiece!!! The slow pace is Chinese style and it is necessary, the tension need to be built up. It might be slow only if people just want to see the sex scene.
Hmm... I feel the pace was largely influenced by Schamus' screen writing style- very much in the vein of Brokeback Mountain. Personally, the complexity of the film is best understood if you have a grasp on history prior to watching it- adds a totally different dimension to the characters' motives and mindset.
Nazri - I agree, but that would have made the movie three hours long! And I think people are complaining enough. And none of that was in the original story, Lee Ang was very true to the original story - I guess he didn't do it because it's not in the original story.
I juz finished watching the movie. Honestly, I find that the pace of the movie is slow but the way the scenes are being shot is beautiful. I wanted to see more depth in Tony Leung's character. There's so much of his dark character that can be shown. For instance, maybe show more abt his father's history and the hatred that he felt.
i can watch lust, cautious over and over again. i love this film! tony was super hot in it too.

@JNagarya The only way I will go away is if I am dead. So I will always be around so if anyone does not like it, they can drop dead.

Tang Wei is such a classic beauty, she almost looks out of place in 2008. Her face belongs in an Ingrid Bergman film.
Either way, Ang Lee has struck gold with another newcomer actress. Remember Zhang ZiYi was similarly propped up by Lee after relative obscurity.
