Great little boat, got one myself..had her ('Papayo') for just over 3 yrs...a lot of fun. Right now I am sorting out the center deck for a refurb. Be a good winter project...I just dont use her enough so plan to base her around the Islands (Falklands) to do some cruising.
I have had 12.5 knts top speed, dont think she will go quicker than that though.
If you want a 21, think long and hard...wish I had bought a 26. One idea is to add a centerdeck 'pod' for cooking etc.
@shaman1958 Its pretty comfortable until the wind goes above 15knts, then the boat speed hits the wave tops and the spray starts to fly - not too bad at the tiller though, its fairly dry for a 'wet' boat. However it is best to be sailing in the tropics - no humans suffered on this sail!
@cosmo257 This is a great video, I can feel the speed...
No time to build a Tiki right now so I bought a Pearson Tiger Cat for $500.00 with a trailer, so I'll be flying soon too hopefully, I'll build a Tiki when I have more time.
Thanks, too bad you're not sailing, I know what its like, I'm doing a refit at the moment - nearly done! Didn't get GPS out to measure speed, too busy hanging on to camera and boat but my guess about 13knts, never heard of a Tiki 21 going faster than that.
@cosmo257 I've done 15 knots on my GPS in my Tiki 21 once. The water was protected by an island, so was quite flat, while the wind managed to mostly blow over the island. I was singlehanding and the boat was more or less empty, so not much weight. The wind was somewhere around force 6. Though, I must admit, that reaching 15 knots was a bit scary, and I reduced sail afterwards.
DAMN !!! looks like its haulin ass preetty good!

Thinking about buying a tiki 21. how fast does it have to blow before you start getting wet?

how well do you think a tiki 21 with a hobiecat rig would perform?

Great video! I'm building a Tiki 30 right now, but many times I wish it was a 21. I might be sailing it already, for one thing!

Thanx. I built the boat myself - best thing I ever did! Just get some help with all the sanding and the rest is addictive fun.
