my uncle was building a hotel there and it was 4 months from opening. they were due to be on phuket beach for an island visit. they were late because the nanny didn't prepare the kids. To this day he still is thankful for what happened. and so am i

I went to Thailand last year & I'm going again soon... they are the nicest people over there and the locals have the most amazing stories to share... Its so sad to know how many people died in such a short space of time on such a beautiful day...

I was in the bay when that hit. After the first waves passed, we went to shore and were taken up to a temple on a hill. When we came down the day after, the damage was heartbreaking.

@2edsajdmsa It will forever be in my head. We watched the water go higher than the room we stayed in. It got dark for a while because the water going to the next level of the hotel. Our windows did not break. The water came in between the door and the floor. Not even a thing got moved in the room. The water pulled back, and we ran to a higher level. All the rooms next to us got trashed completely. We held hands and prayed while this was happening. I know God helped us. Our prayers were answered.
