If you were to take seriously every one of these "studies" you would not be able to eat, drink, or use anything. They even say that some antibacterial soaps cause more harm than good. Should I stop washing my hands? Good lord.
Being serious for a minute, there are brain surgeons who have noted that most people with tumors use their mobiles a lot and on the side of the head that their tumors are found. If mobiles can cause tumors in the brain, they could easily be doing sufficient damage THERE to cause any other bodily functions harm.
Also, those that use their phones less are probably more likely to keep them off much of the time or on their desk or bag rather than in their pocket.
How much their phones are on in metal-cage environments (e.g. cars) could also be a significant factor as I believe phones need to produce stronger signals there to work well.
Getting serious one (last?) time, if I was somebody who didn't consider excess mobile use harmful and I used my phone a lot, I'd almost certainly have a headset allowing me to keep my phone in my pocket or on my belt even when in use. As stronger signals are sent during use, this would only exascerbate effects on the testes.
I thought about using the head set when you mentioned the tumours but then that would almost gurantee that the phone is in the pocket. Of course you don't have to put it in your pants pocket next to you testes. You could put in the back pocket and get radiation on you butt cheeks. I haven't heard about tumours in the butt cheeks, have you?
Haven't you heard about cellphones and cellulite? (-:
In terms of avoiding brain tumors, I believe there's even a case for the right type of headset... but personally, I'm not a big mobile user, so it's not something I'm particularly knowledgeable about.
Ha. Even my doctor warns against heavy mobile phone usage. It can't be just another one of those scare tactics. Well, at least phones don't emit as much radiation as they did last century.
One could theorize from this study that keeping a cell phone in your pocket increases sperm production, improves mobility, and creates a better quality sperm. ;)
Those who use the phone excessively may place it in between calls in their trousers in on-mode. Those who use it less may place it somewhere else, and/or turn it off in between. In on-mode a cell phone emits radio pulses even when you don't make a call (net connectivity procedure). This may then indeed - as is the nature of radiation - increase the DNA fail rate. I studied electrical engineering and we heard in lectures about studies that confirmed health hazards. But money rules the world...
So it makes sense to turn your phone off inbetween calls. Of course that kind of defeats the purpose of a cell phone, doesen't? If no one can reach you cause the phone is always off. But I guess you can still make calls anytime you wanted from where ever you are.
Well in my personal opinion the most responsible way of using phones is: for house to house calls (home or office) use the "good old" telephone. For outdoor calls (emergencies, surprise visits, etc) use your cellphone calling the desired "house phone". Only for cellphone to cellphone calls (eg meeting somewhere outdoors) both parties need to turn their cellphones on to be available.
I think those guys must have been using their phones in the wrong part of their body. Maybe they set them to vibrate, attached them to a certain body part and then called themselves a lot. nah, that would only amount for about 20 seconds a day. :P
There comes (pardon the pun) a time in every males life when the health of his sperm is secondary to other issues, like Should I change my Depends before I go the the theatre!
"Why didn't I call you? Well, uh, I . . . um . . . was going to but then I . . . OH, I didn't call because, Sweetie, I want you to bear my children!!" Yeah, that's the ticket.
get off the phone !!!

If you're on the phone for 5 hours a day, you're not going to get a chance to use that sperm anyways
