To categorize all of Indians in the same category is disfranchising and shows lack of understanding. It's like saying people from Kosht are the same as in Karachi or Baluchistan. They may be pakistani but they are different people with different customs. I've been confused for a Pakistani many times. If you seek differences that is fine, I just choose commonalities. The only indian that i came across and had mistaken to be a Pakistani was a indian Muslims, and that was the only time!

Hm well since your family originated in Pak, you probably inherited much more cultural similarities and (of course historical) than most Indians. Pak culture is very diff from India (parts of punjab, himachal and Kashmir of course have similarities n a shared history). But apart from that - the culture starts to deviate rather sharply. :) I have many indian friends - n that's the reality of it. I can relate somewhat to indian punjabis, kashmiris, but not to anyone else (say bihari, gujrati etc)
