Beautiful birds! I am proud to be in Texas! During the Big Day in Texas birders will start in the Texas Hill Country, then go to Victoria, then the rice fields, Corpus Christi and Barrier Islands. Let's suppot Conservation Scientists! Learn more at Cornell dot Edu
@julbear Every April 22, hundreds of birders travel to the Rio Grande Valley to participate in a great competition to see who spots the most bird species. However, it's more of enjoying the birds than only trying to see who spots the most species.
The Cornell lab decided to have people pledge a certain amount of money for every bird the team saw. In the end they actually saw the most!
@RobbytheLion They do, and living right next to the rice fields my back yard is teaming with birds of all sorts. I have heard, identified, and seen these birds and some that I really didnt recognize. It is really awesome here. Happy birding everyone.

Hey I know a few of those! we have some of these species in CO too. I bet ricefields attract dozens of wetland species, my favorites.
