Everyone I know that's adopted an animal from Petland, has had to pay 100's of dollars in medical bills. I refuse to buy any animal from a pet store. Petland says they only buy from the best breeders? A good breeder would NEVER, and I repeat, NEVER, sell to a pet store. Pet stores no absolutely nothing about 95% of the animals they keep.

Surprisingly, when I walked into Petland when I was younger. I saw the store manager/owner talking to one family that was in the process of purchasing a puppy from them, telling them that they only get their puppies from reputable top breeders all around the United States. I said to myself, that is complete and total bull****.

I',m againt puppie mills, but the husu dosen't have any animal shelters and they don't give any money to animal shelters. You can't contact the husu on their websight the only thing you can do is donate and find useless info. If they don't give money to animal shelters and don't have any animal shelters of their own then where dose that money go to. That money you donate gose into their pokets.

I had to fill out an application and drive to Colorado from OK to meet my dog Stoney's breeder before she sold him to me. My dads dog had an unplanned litter and it was exhausting finding good homes for them. I know if a pet store had asked to buy them all he would have refused.
i have a dog thats from petland i would never go to the store ever again i have been fighting with them for three months cause when i bought my dog she got sick right when o brought her home. they said they wouldnt cover her vet bills. i used to have to force feed her cause she wouldnt eat or drink. We have a similar pet store chain in Australia called Pets Paradise. They tell customers that their dogs are from respectable breeders. But let's make one thing perfectly clear. No respectable breeder would EVER give its puppies to a pet store.

yah i agree with you because my friends own one and i work their. there are some good ones but unfortunately the bad ones outweigh it and bring bad publicity to all the petland stores. mostly i find the petlands in the states are the worst.
The Humane society does not clean the cages for over 12 hours because after the staff said they would help the dogs bleeding mouth and clean his poop off the floor as he cried I came back 5 times that day and night ( THEY DID NOT EXPECT THAT) and They got mad and still never cleaned it the next day either. EVIL.

agreed! i work at one in illinois and the owner of our store has gone to each of our breeders facilities to see what they are about. i will agree with other people that yes many petland stores do buy from puppy mills some are heartless but there are some that do not, some that love and care for our puppies as if they were our own.

i went 2 petland 2day...and there was this kute cocker spaniel there...and i asked if i could play with it in the room...and so i did...and he was so kute.....i think tht he was happy to get out of his cage and play with me....and i played with him for 30min....and i put him back in the petland owner's hand...and he went back in his cage....in the corner of his age lying down facing the wall.....i mean i kno i played with him and might of tired him out...but still it scared me!!!
the sad thing is that there was no footage of the state of the breeder dogs, and i can only imagine how hard it is for them, and you call yourself a civilized country, this is the sort of crap that third world countries dish out to animals
My mom and I got suspesious when they always gave you a free examine and bouth puppies we bought there had kennel cough. Another lady after said that they came from mills we coudln't understand, did they give us a fake paper on the one puppy? My husky, which was the last one I bought there, was undersized for her breed and now that makes me ponder.....
Now one time they gave us breeder names and papers and stuff but then the next time we bought a puppy we didn't get breeder papers that they said they would send to us, they never did. I think they used to buy from regular breeders but started to get cheap and buy from puppy mills
the worst part about this is that we're all saying, "no don't buy from them anymore" but then, where will they all go?? what will happen to them?? -- i was told the same thing back in march. i went into petland to buy mice for my snakes, and wound up buying my puppy. i didn't want to, but he had absolutely stolen my heart... i was told they buy from reputable breeders, i didn't buy that whole scam, however i couldn't walk outta there without him...
@verypg22 its not all petlands that are like this. if you go to work for one thats when you find out for sure where they come from. it is unfortunate that most people think all petlands are terrible after watching something like this.
@verypg22 I think they stopped by now. I dunno...I went to petland (about a month ago) and they only had rescues and none of them were puppies, but the cages were too small and still looked dirty so me and my mom left. I still don't trust them :/

There report was so popular, that they had to do a follow up report. The broadcast was so powerful, that it caused the puppy mill to shut down. however, the mill just relocated to another state. You can't blame all petland stores for what others have done across the united states. They are privately owned franchises and not all of them buy from puppy mills like so many people, as well as the HSUS, like to claim. If you are are interested in purchasing a puppy from Petland, you are allowed to tak down the breeder's name and contact information so you can look into where your puppy is coming from before you purchase it.

Petland is yes a very good place to go to get a pet, and puppy mill's arent a good way to get a dog but in some cases there cheaper then buying from top notch breeders the only thing bad about puppy mills is that there dogs arent excercised and they can get voulntarely sick very fast. People may harse petland workers for almost everything and people have worked "undercover" but the only reason is they just want money for telling Humane Society what they want to hear
You do know that you can adopt right? When you adopt, almost all of the time, the animal has already been vaccinated, wormed etc. If you buy from PetLand, you would be supporting puppy mills. So wouldn't you rather save a life and adopt than support these horrifying puppy mills?

This always makes me upset. I mean, what is wrong with some people? There was this guy who owned a puppy mill not too far away from where I lived and the police told him he need to take them all to the vet or there would be a lot of charges filed against him. He was an ass and didn't want to pay all that money so he took the 70 sick dogs on his property and shot every one of them!! I don't remember what happened to him, but I think the penalty was extremely major.
What about the $billions of 'donations' that HSUS receives 'for the animals' but yet they don't own any shelters? They are a lobbying organization that wants to end all animal breeding or ownership! The problem with puppy mills is that many puppies end up in government-funded shelters, and most have to be put-down. There are literally thousands of animals a day that have to euthanized. The money used to do this comes from the government, and that money from taxpayers. If less people bread dogs, there would be more government money for schools and hospitals. Dog mills should be shut down, if you want a dog you can usually find a nice one at a local pound.

my daughter and I are attending a demonstration/protest at Petland in our town on Saturday. People need to be educated before they think of shelling out thousands of dollars for a puppy they can adopt at a shelter. These dogs are shuttled around from puppy mills to the Hunte Corporation (who is Petland's broker) to Petland stores at such an early age (under 8 weeks). They are shipped in semi trailers, it is on their website.
All these people around the world are complaining about there being WAT TOO MANY CATS AND DOGS. well if we stopped breeding like we are now just to show or sell them for your own profit ...we wouldnt have this bad of a situation .DONT get me wrong I LOVE ANIMALS BUT when your best friend or who could've been.are being put down after A FREAKIN WEEK thats 7 days HEALTHY animals are being killed because they dont have a home .

When we were looking for a dog, we asked some questions and found out that they can get any breed in about a week. Just for curiosity, we asked to look at a puppy and its papers. We found nothing about the "breeder" or the puppy's parents when we got home and searched the Internet.
We didn't get our dog from a pet shop or a puppy mill.

This wouldnt even be an issue if people wouldnt treat dogs or cats as objects and impulse by. They are alive...they have needs and are a lifetime committment. who would buy a dog before meeting the dogs' parents? EddieAlda is right, good breeders want to make sure each dog goes to a great home. I had to fill out an application and drive to Colorado from OK to meet my dog Stoney's breeder before she sold him to me. My dads dog had an unplanned litter and it was exhausting finding good homes for them. I know if a pet store had asked to buy them all he would have refused.

The Humane society does not clean the cages for over 12 hours because after the staff said they would help the dogs bleeding mouth and clean his poop off the floor as he cried I came back 5 times that day and night ( THEY DID NOT EXPECT THAT) and They got mad and still never cleaned it the next day either. EVIL.
The dogs are crying for a reason. They know. The poor dogs can't even talk.

i went 2 petland 2day...and there was this kute cocker spaniel there...and i asked if i could play with it in the room...and so i did...and he was so kute.....i think tht he was happy to get out of his cage and play with me....and i played with him for 30min....and i put him back in the petland owner's hand...and he went back in his cage....in the corner of his age lying down facing the wall.....i mean i kno i played with him and might of tired him out...but still it scared me!!!

Another lady after said that they came from mills we coudln't understand, did they give us a fake paper on the one puppy? this is so sad. and what makes it even more sad is that it is true about petland supporting puppy mills. does anyone else remember Dateline's investigation that they broadcasted on tv about this issue? There report was so popular, that they had to do a follow up report. The broadcast was so powerful, that it caused the puppy mill to shut down. however, the mill just relocated to another state. Please, don't shop (at all) at Petlands.

You can't blame all petland stores for what others have done across the united states. They are privately owned franchises and not all of them buy from puppy mills like so many people, as well as the HSUS, like to claim. If you are are interested in purchasing a puppy from Petland, you are allowed to tak down the breeder's name and contact information so you can look into where your puppy is coming from before you purchase it.

This pisses me off. I work at Petland in a canadian store. this is complete bullshit. I have met Breeders we get our puppies from. Puppy mill Puppys Have problems almost over. Petland offers up to a $2000 dollar warrenty that covers anything congenital or heraditary.. IF PETLAND PUPPIES CAME FROM MILLS WE WOULDNT BE ABLE TO OFFER A WARRENTY THIS BIG BECAUSE WE WOULD BE LOSING ALOT OF MONEY DUE TO THE VET BILLS THAT WOULD COME FROM THE FUCKED UP PUPPIES FROM MILLS. Petland is yes a very good place to go to get a pet, and puppy mill's arent a good way to get a dog but in some cases there cheaper then buying from top notch breeders the only thing bad about puppy mills is that there dogs arent excercised and they can get voulntarely sick very fast. People may harse petland workers for almost everything and people have worked "undercover" but the only reason is they just want money for telling Humane Society what they want to hear

This always makes me upset. I mean, what is wrong with some people? There was this guy who owned a puppy mill not too far away from where I lived and the police told him he need to take them all to the vet or there would be a lot of charges filed against him. He was an ass and didn't want to pay all that money so he took the 70 sick dogs on his property and shot every one of them!! I don't remember what happened to him, but I think the penalty was extremely major.

The problem with puppy mills is that many puppies end up in government-funded shelters, and most have to be put-down. There are literally thousands of animals a day that have to euthanized. The money used to do this comes from the government, and that money from taxpayers. If less people bread dogs, there would be more government money for schools and hospitals. Dog mills should be shut down, if you want a dog you can usually find a nice one at a local pound.

This is something worthwhile. People do die from starvation and disease, and there are more agencies and organizations now than ever before to help this problem as well. To say that they should put their money in these organizations and take it away from the dogs and cats, and other animals does not make sense. What's more important cancer or heart disease? What's more important Child molestation or child starvation? It is ALL matter of opinion. If you dont like it--don't support it.

I completely understand what your staying but if average americans take of this situation, funding that would normally go to this cause can go to beating starvation around the world, its a chain reaction......you just have to look at that way. Its alot easier to solve this issue then starvation, espically if you are an average american, start wih baby steps and work up! Like i said just look at it like a chain reaction.

humans are by far the cruelest and most fucked up species. i personally can't wait till we disappear and restore teh animals natural world instead of destroying it. i wouldn't want to save that kind of species...

my daughter and I are attending a demonstration/protest at Petland in our town on Saturday. People need to be educated before they think of shelling out thousands of dollars for a puppy they can adopt at a shelter. These dogs are shuttled around from puppy mills to the Hunte Corporation (who is Petland's broker) to Petland stores at such an early age (under 8 weeks). They are shipped in semi trailers, it is on their website.

All these people around the world are complaining about there being WAT TOO MANY CATS AND DOGS. well if we stopped breeding like we are now just to show or sell them for your own profit ...we wouldnt have this bad of a situation .DONT get me wrong I LOVE ANIMALS BUT when your best friend or who could've been.are being put down after A FREAKIN WEEK thats 7 days HEALTHY animals are being killed because they dont have a home .

I suspect petland is selling dogs from puppy mills. They may not deal with puppy mills directly but with "brokers" who work with puppy mills.
When we were looking for a dog, we asked some questions and found out that they can get any breed in about a week. Just for curiosity, we asked to look at a puppy and its papers. We found nothing about the "breeder" or the puppy's parents when we got home and searched the Internet.
We didn't get our dog from a pet shop or a puppy mill.

i work at petland in pensacola, this is all untrue, thank you ookamia6. the video in this of the puppy mills has been around forever, they cant tie it to petland at all. if anything petland has contacted them asking for an explanation and the have refused to reply for over 3 months.
