@gunwebsites If the camera had a pvs-14 on it,couldn't the cameraman just turn up the gain dial so we could see the target wifthout artificial illumination
The laser beam can only be seen if dust from the muzzle gets in its path right? Because i need a way for my spotter and I to coordinate our views, and I figure an ir laser on his spotting scope with a sun shade should do the trick.
yes IR lasers are obviously legal - why wouldnt they be? go on ebay you'll find tons of them for sale, as well as on amazon.com. theres nothing illegal about them
Good question.. I don't have FLIR to test, and the only time I've messed around with FLIR was at trade shows, so I am not sure.. but I would guess no because they are different wavelengths of energy
Yes you can see IR Laser in Thermal Imagers. Just check out some of the Insight Technologies and Oasis units had IR Aiming Lasers for LE/Mil and Red Aiming Lasers for Civilian. The Oasis units will mount right on top of an AR15/M16 flatop. Remember Thermal detects heat. What is a laser, light/heat(radiation).
The clarity is plenty good enough for youtube. I have been trying to explain to a few of my friends what its like to use an ir illuminator/laser and this video does just that. Thank you for putting this up.

dcook395 2 years ago
sure
GunWebsites 2 years ago
were did you buy yours? cause every thing Ive seen on the internet says sold to law enforcement and military only
dcook395 2 years ago
@dcook395
There are IR lasers in every CD player.. many companies don't sell to non-military, but there are no laws against lasers that I am aware of
This is US everything is for sale. Check surplus stores, gun shows, magazine ads, the internet, etc

whats the difference bettween a IR laser and a red laser pointer if any?
BOSTONPWNS2828 2 years ago
basically they are the same thing, but of course the IR is not visible to the naked eye
GunWebsites 2 years ago
so i will be able to see the beam of a red laser pointer through night vision googles?
BOSTONPWNS2828 2 years ago
sure, but so could other people and everyone would see the 'dot' on the target
