@stoney5970 stock for stock the 305 tpi 5spd beat the gt's fox bodies. the cobra was a different story. the iroc had three different options so depends on which one you raced. my 89 iroc stock had the 350tpi with 245hp 345 tor at the fly not the rear wheels. ran a 14.2 stock

That's what IROC stood for when I was around then back in the 80's. And the place I cruised, it was probably 90% the driver WAS an Italian.

Could be a few things. . . thermostat stuck closed, water pump. . . does your cooling fan kick on at the temp. its supposed to?

Thermostat is fine i already replaced, no leaks but water pump and seems to work. i only let it get up to 220 and they dont come on, and that seemed to hot, its had small exhaust leak to but used to drive ok with that.

So, when the temp gets to 220 the fans don't kick on, and it keeps getting hotter? Might be the relay to your cooling fan (if your fan is indeed electric, like I think it should) burned out / failed.

Another thing, 3rd gen camaros were made to run hot to a certain degree. . . to help them pass smog / emission tests.

I got a 1990 Camaro, so I'm familar with some of the quirks the 3rd gens have. Mine always gets up to 220 in city traffic, but always drops to 180 when the fan comes on.

had the prob with the fan not coming on at random.i checked all the connections,replaced sensors,relays,almost everything & no success.then it seemed to fix itself & never happened again.you can alsokick em on manually by turning the ac on,i took the ac out so i can do it w/o wasting gas,etc.

the over heating is a fixable problem, look under the front of your car, there should be an air dam under the radiator it is about 5.5 inches tall. if it is not there, get one. most Idiots take them off after they tear the cr^& out of them on parking stops.

This is very common....that little piece of plastic is very crucial, and gets abused BADLY. The possible solutions listed above are god, but here's another possibility? when was the last time you flushed the cooling system? Those old Harrison radiators are good for "liming" up within a couple of years...something to consider.

i had that same problem with my 89 iroc-z . my resolution was to wire the fans directly to a toggle switch. that eliminated alot of headache with the overheating.
