Hello! Just watched this series of videos and just loved them! They are informational and after just purchasing two "water cubes", will be attempting to copy your design to a T. Do you happen to have a parts list available? I can send you my email if that is possible...
@CountryGirlChronicle Congratulations. Unfortunately don't have a parts list. I recommend making a drawing of the system you want and taking it to home depot and get some help from the plumbing department. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Do you have a steel roof? I have tested my rain run-off and there is bleeb off from the asphalt shingles...we use cheap plastic sheeting and a dedicated gutter on a section of house...I don't know if you plan on drinking the water or filtering it.
@LDSPrepper What section of CL would you find them and what are they called for those of us looking on CL in other States/Locations Great prepper video
theres too much grass on your yard, you could plant alot of fruit trees and take a lot of 'food' rfom there as well, without mentioning how beauty would it look, oh and the money saved
Very nice well thought out system. I see only one important flaw. If the situation really comes down to having to utilize the system for drinking water as a matter of survival, the system is not very defensible. I imagine all your friends, family and neighbors know you have the water and I doubt the looters will be far behind. I might suggest keeping lots of sheet plastic and glue on hand to patch knife and bullet holes.
Excellent video...Love the idea. I was told at the prepper’s conf that blue or black help keep the sun out so it won’t grow algae and other stuff. Are you going to paint them our use chemicals?
@pkbjorn35 Great question. You can store water in the sun as long as the sun doesn't get into the water. That will cause algae. By covering it with black plastic we avoid that problem.
I too use IBC Totes for my main water storage at my country property They work great and fit well in a small pickup, but full they weigh around 1900lbs.
@moparmanpete Almost a ton a piece. I was very aware of the weight issue when I first started researching. I have seen many stacked tote videos and they all work great. I am putting mine on cinder blocks to disperse the weight on the ground.
I assume you are going to cover them somehow?...Dunno about where YOU are, but here the sun would turn those into a HUGE perti dish pretty quick...Yeah, I had it happen. Also, on some plastics..the UV is pretty detrimental...thoughts?

@MonicaLeader On CL I search for "55 gallon" or "275 tote". I don't look in any category, just "for sale".

@MonicaLeader Look for "barrels" or "totes" or "IBC" or as a last resort, "containers".

@laaayon We did just that. Watch my Garden from a Tree video to see what we did.

Those tanks need to be opaque, otherwise mold and bacteria will destroy your water supply

@mcb476 You are correct. Please watch the other videos in this series to see how I address that issue.

@coltrump Great suggestion. Thank goodness my neighbors have put in swimming pools. I think those are more susceptible to "snatch and grab".

@elanapetrovich Excellent. What do you use the water for and do you have algae growing in the totes?

@Itaintnutn I'm going to cover them with black 6 mil plastic.

@dgerps I'm putting a first flush system on mine to help eliminate some of the initial debris going into the totes.

Dosnt the 1000 liters "drums" need to stay away from the sun if you gonna store water in em?
