Has it been mentioned that Nintendo was sued back in the day for the "spin the joystick" minigames on Mario Party 1? They lost a truckload of money in a class action lawsiut from the parents of kids that injured their hands spinning the joysticks. I don't think they would want to go through that again.
I used to have my neighbour round every single day for at least a hour to play mario party <3 We never did figure out how to get the volcano map though.

But Tug O'War was one of the hardest mini-games which required you to turn the Control Stick/Analog Stick (especially in Mini-Game Island). Pedal Power wasn't as hard, though.
Also, Pedal Power was the mini-game you referred to when you said "Boo and the Light Bulb."

I think that the fact that they released Mario Party 2 first than 1 is that they are never going to put 1 on the Virtual Console. Think about it, re-programming the Control Stick-rotation minigames must something harder that just porting the N64 controls to Wii controls, and I'm sure that's something they have to do because Nintendo is not THAT stupid, they are not going to go through all the trouble they went when MP1 was released AGAIN, because of all the blisters and stuff...

I want it as much as everyone but this game is hard to emulate it uses effects not found in other n64 games and for them to make a V-c version they have to create a special Built-In Emulator designed for the game in particular that takes time, they're likely working on a version of the Build-in Emu that can run all of them with little tweaks (So they don't have to make a new emulator for every sequel) It'll come out soon. (For anyone who knows how to install wads MP2VC.TK For Mario Party 2 wad)
I can understand why Mario Party wouldn't be on VC, because of all the "joystick spinning" games which gave people blisters, but there is no reason for Mario Party 2 and 3 not to be on VC. So many people spent so much time playing these classics with their friends, and it's terrible that people who don't have their N64 anymore, or are too young to, miss out on these games.
@weirdproq It's great that at least one of the Mario Parties are finally coming to the virtual console and I also hope Mario Party 2 comes to the U.S before the end of 2010, but I'm glad to see that it's coming to Japan in November and Europe in December.

Mario party 2 is really coming to vc. Well, in europe, but it always comes to north america months after that. type in Mario Party 2 vc and u will see all the proof.
Mario Party 3 is my most favorite game in the series, also they just had release Mario Tennis 64 not to long ago, but i can say is hoping for to be release in the middle of early 2011... but probably around spring that's much better appropriate for the game's atmosphere.

Nintendo is hesitant to release Mario Party on VC because all the games are so similar - they don't think most people would buy more than one. They're worried people would buy a VC Mario Party for $5-10 and then decide not to get the recent Wii version for $50. Money-wise, they don't see it as a good idea.
MarioKart didn't have this problem because unlike Mario Party, all the games are individually much more well-known.

Nintendo will take their time with the release of Mario Party for VC, because the value of the first 3 greatly exceed 10 or even 20 dollars. They may never release them. Go out and try to find the original cartridges and the cheapest you'll find is about 30 bucks a piece.
Im not sure that nintendo owns all the rights to this game anymore, remember RARE owns donkey kong and they went to Microsoft. I still say that they should add the game though, work out some dam deal with rare because we all know they'd sell tons of downloads!!
RARE does not own Donkey Kong. Remember the original Donkey Kong game was also the first game to include mario, long before the Donkey Kong Countries and such. They actually don't even own Diddy Kong. They pretty much only have Banjo, Concur, and maybe Dixie.
Nintendo owned Donkey Kong before Rare even existed. :| All Rare did was make the Donkey Kong Country series, including Donkey Kong 64 and Diddy Kong Racing. Nintendo has made many games, probably more than a dozen titles featuring Donkey Kong since Nintendo sold Rare. Donkey Kong always was and always is Nintendo's IP.
The reason no Mario Party on the VC is that Nintendo dosen't want to get sued when kids rip their hands open on the control sticks again.

It's true that Rare was bought by Microsoft but Nintendo still owns the rights to Donkey Kong even though Rare made some Donkey Kong games. Rare only owns Banjo and Conker as of now. So if DK64 isn't out on the virtual console it will be sometime
Nintnedo doesn't really know what is good for the Virtual Console on N64. Mario Party is the PERFECT game to be on the VC (I was gonna say Banjo-Kazooie, but RARE was moved to Microsoft... SADLY! T-T). Donkey Kong 64, Pokemon Stadium, Bomberman, a LOT of these good games are needed on VC, but nintendo doesn't do a thing about it. -_-

4P Mini-Games: 25 (there were two Slot Car Derbies)
1-VS.-3 Mini-Games: 10
2-VS.-2 Mini-Games: 5 [Bobsled Run, Deep Sea Divers, Bombsketball, Desert Dash, Handcar Havoc]
1P Mini-Games: 13 (including the three aforementioned Bumper Ball Mazes)

Mario Party 3 is my most favorite game in the series, also they just had release Mario Tennis 64 not to long ago, but i can say is hoping for to be release in the middle of early 2011... but probably around spring that's much better appropriate for the game's atmosphere.

i lost MP1, never found it :( i would at least want the memories back by having it on the wii. MP2: i never owned it but definitely would like to buy it on VC. MP3: i do have it so dont need it...... i do hope nintendo knows if they put these 3 games on VC theyd make some money. people would be going out to buy a nintendo card for these games like crazy!!!!! Just my opinion, i was playin mario party 6 on my gcn and i think mario party 2 pumps the shit outta it minigame wise and board wise. Even if i still had mario party for my 64, my controllers are too stuffed up to play it. I need this and all the fans need this for the Wii VC!!!!!

Nintendo is hesitant to release Mario Party on VC because all the games are so similar - they don't think most people would buy more than one. They're worried people would buy a VC Mario Party for $5-10 and then decide not to get the recent Wii version for $50. Money-wise, they don't see it as a good idea.
MarioKart didn't have this problem because unlike Mario Party, all the games are individually much more well-known.

@CallinWire Then what Nintendo needs to do is get off their lazy asses and think of some new ideas for a rumored Mario Party 9. And with the release of the first three, then they should release 1 and 3 first, cuz 2 is very similar to 1, but they should still release 2.

i totally agree with you about this coming to the VC but i think i'm not going to hold my breath for this u know.. but if you are dying to play this you could just DL project 64 on your pc and play the MP games on that emulator :) or even get the homebrew channel and wait for the wii 64 to be fully complete then it will play everything i think i mean like i know rare will not release Banjo kazooie on vc so i just downloaded it on wii64 :) it's AWESOME!

Nintendo will take their time with the release of Mario Party for VC, because the value of the first 3 greatly exceed 10 or even 20 dollars. They may never release them. Go out and try to find the original cartridges and the cheapest you'll find is about 30 bucks a piece.

Im not sure that nintendo owns all the rights to this game anymore, remember RARE owns donkey kong and they went to Microsoft. I still say that they should add the game though, work out some dam deal with rare because we all know they'd sell tons of downloads!!

RARE does not own Donkey Kong. Remember the original Donkey Kong game was also the first game to include mario, long before the Donkey Kong Countries and such. They actually don't even own Diddy Kong. They pretty much only have Banjo, Concur, and maybe Dixie.

Nintendo owned Donkey Kong before Rare even existed. :| All Rare did was make the Donkey Kong Country series, including Donkey Kong 64 and Diddy Kong Racing. Nintendo has made many games, probably more than a dozen titles featuring Donkey Kong since Nintendo sold Rare. Donkey Kong always was and always is Nintendo's IP.
The reason no Mario Party on the VC is that Nintendo dosen't want to get sued when kids rip their hands open on the control sticks again.

It's true that Rare was bought by Microsoft but Nintendo still owns the rights to Donkey Kong even though Rare made some Donkey Kong games. Rare only owns Banjo and Conker as of now. So if DK64 isn't out on the virtual console it will be sometime

Nintnedo doesn't really know what is good for the Virtual Console on N64. Mario Party is the PERFECT game to be on the VC (I was gonna say Banjo-Kazooie, but RARE was moved to Microsoft... SADLY! T-T). Donkey Kong 64, Pokemon Stadium, Bomberman, a LOT of these good games are needed on VC, but nintendo doesn't do a thing about it. -_-
