  • The objective is to give the individual confidence in his/her protective mask...it is NOT a 'GAS MASK' is is a PROTECTIVE mask!!! What is the FIRST thing you do when the GAS!! alarm is given??? STOP BREATHING!!!

  • Fuck that delta 219

  • Wasn't that bad, but then again army and marines give the double pop.

  • i loved the gas chamber, i wanted to do it again so bad!!!

  • @1androo2 that just makes you sound stupid. you're not fooling anyone there badass. i bet you love to be kicked in the balls and tazed too. and i know plenty of guys who arent pussies say it burns the fuck out of your eyes and makes your skin feel like its sun burnt.

  • @jjk696969 no really, i loved it... i really wanna do it again, lol. not trying to fool anyone, i know it hurt and i know it made my eyes burn, but it was some good shit hahah

  • @1androo2 No, I went through it and agree with the other guy: I went through at the very end, with two full canisters released. I can tell you right now that you must have forgotten how truly bad this shit is: It felt like burning death for me and most other soldiers who went through it, and I will never, ever voluntarily do it again.

  • @Wasserkaktus hahah... well i guess i'm just masochistic or something.... whats that word where you enjoy pain?

  • @1androo2 the word for that is fucked up in the head.

  • @Wasserkaktus Androo must have gone through the one at Ft Leanordwood or something. Go look at that video. What a joke. Anyone who really went through it would never want to do it again. When we went through, we got smoked first in the outter room so we were breathing hard and were sweating like crazy. Then we went into the inner chamber where we couldn't even see due to the amount of gas. I dont' beleive I have ever felt anything like it. NEVER again.

  • such discipline and intensity... I've seen summer camps tougher than this

  • That shit stays on your clothing and skin for awhile. Rubbing your eye's with either just makes it worse. Of course it's human nature to do it.

  • 20100124

  • it depends on where u r and who is doing it i have done it twice but yeah snot runnin down to the ground and skin feels like a real bad sun burn lol

  • Ahh the Memories. I can almost smell the CS now!!! I had a cold when i went in, that stuff sure will clean out the sinuses. I went through in 94. 3rd platoon Dco 1/38.

  • @bearfoot25 is it rly as bad as it looks? i heard dats it's rly not DAT bad.

  • @pyro69man It fucking sucks. Its not deadly or anything, its just more irritating than anything else in the world.

  • i remember there were like 4 female platoons on the left side of the pad and like 10 male platoons on the rest of it. females always have hair in a bun but for gas mask they had to let their hair down. the moment they did, this awesome wave of shampoo girly scent hit us and literally at the same time like 500 guys' heads looked up and to the left all wide eyed. O______O it was awesomely funny.

  • @Guitarpeon The smell isn't the problem with CS.

  • it sucks to be in there

  • its fun but hard

  • fun when its all done, that shit sucks in the moment...lol..

  • I really have no clue why they make them do this. Seems like torture to me. Serves no purpose besides knowing what it feels like...I would just take their word for it.

  • I think its just so that they don't panic if they ever come into the situation. But then again, I don't know for sure. I want to be an RCMP though and i know this is part of the training. Along with getting tazed and probably more ...

  • Haha, you seriously did not just liken a little CS gas to torture, did you? You probably also think waterboarding and shouting at terrorists is torture.

  • Damn this will be fun

  • obviously not marines

  • WTF kind of basic was this? I went through a about a year ago and the way these guys were acting would def. not have been acceptable. Yelling and screaming before going into the gas chamber and chanting? Then one of the NCOs asks the trainee what his roster number was and he responded with "who me?" Are you kidding?

  • how long do they keep u in?

  • I could remember when I went throuth the gas chamber someone had fainted and fell backwards and hit his head. He knocked himself out and the drill instructor had to go in and rescue him.

  • thank god for the bong hits I used to take..... I laughed through this shit

  • Yes the Gas Chamber sucks but i cant count the number of times he tells them to pick up their weapons. I even heard him ask one guy where his weapon was.

  • it's the same with every cycle you notice everone acting bad on the way in then on the way out everyones not so pumped. i yelled out dogs of war my platoon name on the way out and got smoked for it from another platoons seargent lol, just like the drill seargent asked this kid his number for yelling out his

  • Damn it...Now I am a tad scared to go to the military next year...

  • Same freaking chamber I went thru in '85..The one at Fort Lewis was worse, smaller, denser, but by then I knew what to expect. As for the guy bitching about civilian HazMAt stuff...hehehhe...I done that too and it's next to nothing. Face spray with Freeze sucks, but not nearly as much as deeply inhaling dense CS while your lungs are already working hard...

  • i had worse, im in swat and biohazardous removel and i had to deal with anthrax and other biohazardous shit

  • I remember it being much worse.

  • HaHa, at 1:37 that kid rubs his eye, bad move

  • dude i dare anyone to say CS gas is weak.... most horrible exp of my life

  • Brings back fond memories.. I was the last one out of the room in our crew.. I watched my fellow soldiers gas masks fill up with vomit in many cases. If you trust your mask and have it fitted to your face properly you get to stick around and watch the show..

Their reactions look tame compared to what we had in 1979. I wonder if they backed off of the severity of what they use or the length of time they keep you in the room after removing your mask..

  • '05, have hood and mask, then you remove the hood to feel the burn around the straps, then remove, breathe in, report, walk.

    NEVER RUN!

you WILL hit the pole just outside the door.

  • trust me it's just as bad now days, it depends on how much they cook and how long they make you breath it. they made everyone in my platoon on benning take off our mask then open our eyes roll em around then take three big deep breaths if we didn't they made us do it all over, we stayed 30 seconds after taking off the mask. these guys must have gotten lucky, the floor was coverd in snot and puke after just 15 people when i went in, and snot was hanging to the ground and couldn't breath for cough

  • When I went through BCT with the 1/38 we were the first non-infanty cycle. The Drills hated us and gave us OSUT training in 9 weeks. We went through the gas chamber six times in one day - and the tear gas was so thick you couldn't see your hand in front of your face, just a yellow glow from the light.

  • The point of this training is to give the trainee confidence in their gas mask. They go into chamber with masks on, then take them off before going outside. You learn real quick that the mask works.

  • lol

    WOLVERINES!

    i luv red dawn

and the seargent calls him on it.lololololol

  • Wtf and the point of that shit is? The french legionaires dont even do that shit.. why? because its stupid.

  • its not stupid, it teaches you how effective your gas mask is and why you wear it. same reason why cops who want to carry tasers have to be tased and why cops are sprayed with mace. so they know what it does.

  • build confidence in your chem gear, and confidence in yourself as far as what you are able to make it through. Going through the gas chamber gives trainees/recruits confidence they may have lacked before.

  • This is nothing. Try the Navy FFTU gas chamber. At least they let these guys come out before all the gas was gone. The CC that ran ours was named Adams.... He asked me about my ENTIRE family tree to see if we were related, meanwhile I had 50 gallons of snot running out my nose, my company was miserable and burning like crazy, THEN we get out in fresh air and he removes his mask to find out he's black.... I'm native indian! He tortured us for 10 minutes for shits n giggles! LoL! Good times!

  • i was scared as shit going into the gas chamber...but everyone hypes it up that it is worse than it actually is...I had to go in twice because i didn't see a diff company's DS.

    C. Co 3/34 INF REG 2nd platoon summer 2008. #328.

  • Ha ha ha ha if you think you could take it just try it's worse then you think i dont wanna do it again

  • oh yeah there acting tough befor they go in but when there coming out its like murder for them, not acting cool any more idiots

  • yeah...Im pretty sure they expected it to suck before they went in. It's a gas chamber.

  • Im pretty sure the idiot is the one talking shit about people going through something hes never experienced

  • holy shit thats like torture but im sure if i was older i could take it.

  • Been there done that, 3rd platoon C 1/50 summer 2002, roster #327.

  • Wardawgs.

  • no i actually wasnt denied..cause the rule is if u were diagnosed before age 13 u can enlist with ..a pulmonary test and i passed

  • oh its the yankee army, i thought it was gonna be the british. well, gosh darn my cotton socks....

  • Hey I'm wearing cotton socks too! There great arnt they?

  • Fuck the British.

  • why the fuck do you call us yanks when some of us arent even from the north?? fukin lobster back piece of shit.

  • can u die in there if u have asthma

  • If you had asthma you would be denied military service, unless you got a waiver stating that you specifically *won't* die due to asthma.

  • i am really interested in the military but this is my biggest worry

how bad is it and how long do u have to stay in there for?

and wut are the worst things about training besides this, is tere anything worse?

  • basically they kick your butt. but this isnt even close to the marines.

  • The gas chamber isn't really that bad. It burns your skin a bit, but not that long. Don't even try holding your breath though, cause they keep you in there for longer than you can probably hold it at the time. Then when you do breath in real deep it'll be horrible. It's kinda hard to breath. Makes the air feel...thick. as long as you can seal your mask right, you're good. They have you take it off for like a minute. I'd say the worst thing about BCT is the lack of sleep. Just get in shape first

  • Iwas at fort benning harmony church in 1987 11b infantry f/9/2 i remember one recruit in our platoon fucked up so bad they made him go in the gas chamber with all 4 platoons he also never graduated was kicked out for basicaly being a smart ass and not doing what he was told he knew what to do and how to do it he just would rather test the DS. the DS actually liked him for his courage but couldnt keep him in the army . so they gave him a balonge sandwhich and a pair of roller skates and road map.

  • why in the world would you even say that?!

  • the marines have contest on how long they can stay in the gas chamber. They come out smiling!

  • OK here's my boot story.

On of the smallest recruits in our platoon took of his gas mask and started to freak. As the gas took a hold the basic instinct to get out of there took hold and he bolted toward the door. Our biggest DI hunkered down and blocked his escape. In a perfectly executed ballet of movements the tiny recruit did a perfect blocking tackle knocking the DI down and in the same movement opened the door and escaped. Everyone was stunned. Surprisenly nothing happend to anyone

  • Yeah I am surprised that guy didn't get punishment for that.

  • None of the other recruits knew why either.

There were two other "DI's" in the chamber.

I'll never forget the shorter than 4' recruit plowing into our DI and seeing the 6'+ DI laying flat on his back for a few seconds. Without a doubt the hardest thing in the world for us was to not laugh our ass off while we took off our mask. The recruit gained fame in our eyes, But it was never brought up much for fear of getting the crap bent out of us.

  • It just proves that size doesn't matter!

  • I doubt they would punish a recruit for besting a drill sergeant in a scenario like that. if he was just getting yelled at and the kid started swinging with fists it'd be a different story.

  • Is this the Army or Marines?

That looks like hell when they throw up

  • my brother said the gas chamber was one of the wrost things in his life.he said in gets in your eyes and everywhere and just burns like heck.

  • Hah, I thought the gas chamber was great. At least once I got outside and I could breathe. That first breath of fresh air was one of the greatest things I've ever experienced, along with rappelling down the Eagle Tower.

  • I freakin LOVED the gas chamber. Summer of 89 I was in A-4/36th at Benning. I never felt so alive after going thru that. Definitely cleans out the ole sinuses!!!!!

  • this guy is a punk he claims this is his video from 1997 but this is a video of delta company 3rd btn 47inf div in 2001 i seen my self all my drill srgnt i have had 5 people confirm this who are in the video i guess he just wants to be cool or something. it really pisses me off that he is trying to pass this off as his own

  • fuckin' benning

  • go to college

  • currently im 10 and i want to join the marines but the prob. is that i got asthma and all that would that disable me from joining the marines?

  • I dont think they would let you do this. I don't know, it just feels like abunch of not going in you nose... burning your face a bit. I doubt that they will tough. They probably wont let you into a combat situation either.

  • yes it will. over here in the UK i was asked the same question from a corporal, you wouldnt b able to join for 4 years

  • Depending on the person, you might out grow your asthma before you are 18. I know many who do. Make us proud.

  • Nice. Thanks for the memories. Ft. Benning 1987

  • Me too. Ft. Jackson 1980 C 3 1

  • for what exectly is this exercise?

  • To learn the importance of a properly secured gas mask.

  • and then taking it off and reciting your fuckin' SSN so you get a nice lungfull of gas

  • i love watching videos on youtube naked! F

  • the drill sgts made your stay in basic training as uncomfortable as possible.that way when you were involved in that situation you knew that you could handle it because you already did it.If they didn't do it and you got into a conflict that you were not trained in then you were screwed because you were never shown. they always put you to the extremes.

  • Before mobilizing to Iraq, my infantry company was made part of an MP battalion -- so we had to go through police-baton training, and then a confidence course using the baton after being sprayed with 5% pepper spray (OC).

I *USED* to think CS is bad.

I would rather go through the CS gas chamber every morning for a month...with a FULL grenade (30 tablets) instead of just 3 tablets before getting OC'ed again.

With CS, you're decontaminated in 10 minutes.

OC is 2+ hours of your face on fire

  • what gas is it

  • tear gas

  • CS gas

  • what happens if someone who has asthma goes into the tear gas chamber?

i know you cant be in the military if you have asthma its just a "what if" question lol

  • most likely it would be caught before they go to the gas chamber b/c its usually later in training that they do that. if its not caught then it gets caught when they get the gas and then they would be discharged after being taken to the hospital.

  • urworstenemy666

    well, that's the theory.

I've had asthma for years now, been through the gas chamber several times, and I'm still in. But they give me the option of going through or not. However, I do think I'm gonna stop de-masking -- it's hard on the lungs.

  • I didn't have a hard time. Perhaps I'm immune?

  • Its one thing to watch this its another thing to have to go back in a secone and third time

  • animal shelters do this to dogs and cats everyday and say it's a humane death.

  • this isnt lethal gas tard, its cs gas.

  • animal shelters kill by injection. same way people are exectued. this gas doesnt kill you

  • Same method, much different drugs. The drugs used to execute someone are not allowed to be used for animal euthansia. Vets belive there are problems with the drugs used to execute humans.

  • actually, CS gas can kill.

Most of the dead from the Waco seige died of CS inhalation, NOT smoke inhalation (they drowned in their own mucus, because the ATF assholes, in specific violation of government doctrine for use of CS, pumped it into enclosed spaces, and those occupied by children and infants.)

In an autopsy, it's easy to tell the difference -- the CS casualties didn't have any smoke in their lungs because they already stopped breathing by the time the smoke got to their locations.

  • They do not drown DR akulkis the are actually die cause of the oxygen to CS gas ratio. Please study up before you try and explain things.

  • is this ft benning? i saw the "follow me" patch on one of the d.i's

  • Yes it is Ft. Benning, GA. Home of the Infantry!

  • Can't wait for this shit. I'm sure I'll be eating my words when it happens, but hell. When it happens I'm going to yell out "brains....BRAINS!!!!!" Every body who walks out of there looks like zombies. It will probably be a good comic relief.

  • when i did this in 2004 im not going to lie it was the worst thing i have ever gone threw Iraq was better. im sure that sounds crazy but anyone that has done it will agree, there are few things like it in the world and it was only like 30 to 50 sec your in there but after 5 you almost die

  • You allowed to hold your breath?

  • Hell no.

  • So if your not coughing up blood, they throw you back in?

    Sounds reasonable.

  • If you cough up blood from CS gas, you had problems wholly unrelated even before going in. The sensation of millions of tiny needles piercing your skin, uncontrollable coughing and mucus, breathing problems, yes, but not blood. CS gas is pretty harmless, it's mostly psychological.

  • why would those men trust their lives with a $10 chinese made gas mask?

  • "why would those men trust their lives with a $10 chinese made gas mask?"

    Because it works.

  • It's tear gas

  • becuz it works

  • I did that shit in Basic in 2003, that shit SUCKS!!!

  • my brother just left for the military a few days ago and he is gonna have to do this soon. and people can be in the military if they want to. its not always a bad thing.

  • 1996 rock of the marne baby!!!! 1\38 infantry!!!!!!!!!!

  • how long is the gas chamber?

like, how much time are you in there for?

  • You have to wonder why we have to have such a large military complex? Where are the enemies? The US creates their enemies. Every once in a while they have to drop bombs on someone or the sodliers would become bored and leave. So they pick on some Arab country that has very little in the way of military might.

  • are you some kind of idiot countrydude102....... nobody is picking on anybody, war doesnt work on bordem. maybee just maybee hte poeple of iraq needed liberating from saddam? come on think about it

  • ru retarded? everyone attacks us cause they hate us..do u even no whats going on in the world? stick with ur fucking corn redneck

  • This brings back a lot of old memories. I did it, but I will never do it again. I think I moved on with my life to ever want to go back. My only advice to people is to go to college and avoid this, college is the way to go. The U.S. spends so much money on the military industrial complex, and prisons which is why education is not funding to help students pursue goals in life.

  • umm.i don't see what the big deal is about her wanting to join the army, even though she's 12. i'm 13 and have thought about the Marines, alot...but i still have 5 years to make up my mind. Thinking abotu it isn't bad at all... cut her a break.

  • wat do u mean?

  • I didnt make a big deal of it, I just said its unusual, is it so hard to understand that I think something is unusual? It's just like not every guy wants to grow up and be a cheerleader, in fact its very unusual, doesnt mean its wrong or they shouldnt pursue thier dreams. I wasnt giving a hard time to anyone, I just thought it was unusual.

  • okay, what's that supposed to mean...every guy wants to grow up and be a cheerleader?? the marines is hardly a man only thing....i'm not saying i don't agree with you, but its really not unusual at all...

  • Statistically, yes it is unusual.

  • you are an idiot.

the last time you said anything was a month ago

god go join a cheerleading squad.

  • Coming from "batongirl" I'd shut your underaged overpriviledged ass up.

If you want to know, I was at Georgia watching my brother graduate from basic training, followed by my first rsp's when I got back. Get over your period and reply back when ur a little older to see the logic in my statement.

  • yeah, okay bud whatever you say

    it's with a u jackass.

are you going to keep this up, or just shut up?

  • Sorry, last time I checked I didn't need to spell words to put a bullet in someones head. All I can do at this point is laugh at you, because you're going nowhere in the marines. I can see you getting to basic, breaking down, and pissing yourself before going insane. But for the sake of this guys vid, I will stop. You keep twirlin ur gay stick while the strong people do the fighting okay?

  • u yanks are descended from polaks. ooooooooooohhhhhh shit

  • you yanks are fucking shit.

if only you were as good as the British.

  • fucking ass hole hey who beat your ass in the revoulution war and we practicly had to fight with are hands there....

  • yea whatever

  • how long do u stay in there?

  • 7 to 10 seconds

  • yes u do! i was in the army and wore glasses everybody has to do it nomatter what to pass basic training.

  • if you were glasses, and your in the army, do you still have to do this stuff?

  • Why wouldnt you lol

  • well i where glasses and i am going to join the army, by the way, i am a 12 year old girl, thats why i am asking.

  • If you're really a 12 year old girl, please for gods sake, really think abouty what you're doing lol

  • i know what i would be doing and i know what i would be going through. i know what im doing! but i am jsut asking because i wear glasses.

  • Wait, if you're 12 why does ur profile say 19 lol

  • i didn't know (and i still don't know) how old you have to be to have a youtube acount, so i just picked a random number before my birthday.

  • If she's 12, why would you be looking at her profile?

  • Confirmation, I find it hard to belive a 12 year old (girl much less) wants to join the military.

  • i agree with you lol child malester much...

  • it says 12 becaouse your not aloud to be 12 on you tube idiot

  • that's what i was wondering...

  • dude the army is a great thing leave the girl alone it gives you great oppertunites in the future and teaches you leadership. plus you get some free drinks lol

  • What? Stop being stupid I did nothing to insult or demean her. I simply was surprised that a 12 year old girl was interested in joiningthe military. Anyone will tell you thats not ordinary. Did I say you shouldnt join? no. Did I say shes too weak? No. Did I dis on the military? Nope.

  • You get issued special glasses for BCT with very thick, brown frames that cover half your face and are thicker than your granny's. They're commonly referred to as BCG's (birth control glasses), because once you wear them no one of the opposite sex (nor the same sex, hopefully) will ever want to have relations with you.

  • Looks like fun...Not! I did the same thing back in 1972 - Fort Leonard Wood, MO.

  • why hell did you yell "wolverine?"

    funny stuff

  • i think it was a red dawn refrance but eh

  • His platoon mascot could've been a Wolverine. Mine was 2nd Platoon "Dragons".

  • heh i was tied in with the 1st cav so i geuss ours was a horse lol

  • Thats from my basic video,Go Renagades!! A-247,Courtesy of Lil'Refener.

  • when I was in basic, it was called the "disco hut".

  • Do you get to keep your ACU's after basic training.?

  • its funny watchin and its funny after but at the times its dogsh*t lol

  • yeah my uncle had to have that done to him

  • how long do they keep you in there?

  • depends on if you screw up. usually about 5 minutes. But the dumbass next to me wouldnt put his mask on when we had to take it off and put it back on so we were in there for 15 lol

  • How long do they really make you stay in there? (Army Basic)

  • I rememger when I was in the gas chamber, it was like hell

  • I did it at Ft. Leonard Wood Mo in '91. You smell it all day long no matter what you do. Dragonbreath is what it is like

  • Hahaha i totaly remember this i went to that same building in basic training at fort benining

  • I just experience this, a few days back. I'm in the Singapore Armed Forces though. And yeah the effects really suck. I was almost sure that my eyes were on fire!

  • Do they do this in the United States Navy? Because I am thinking about joining.

  • Yes, recruits of the Marines, Army, Navy, and Air Force will experience this at least during Basic Training if not on a regular basis. Also, most recruits will have to say something after taking the mask off as per their TI/etc. Most commonly, each will say their name, rank, and social.
