  • It's really like a beginners mind. A person with full awareness, but no expertise in any martial art, would react in the same way, I think. Mind is the key, not technique. Technique is just a vehicle to reach that mind if you haven't it beforehand

  • @MegaNewbie100 Agreed! I like your way of thinking :-)

  • Nice Video! Osu!

  • This is more like, "How to rob someone." Keep your distance, have a partner, don't lock your arm, run wide. lol

  • @asahearts1 takes a criminal to know a criminal, I guess ;-) But somehow, I don't think desperate people are looking on YouTube for mugging tips LOL

  • haha omg thank you. it doesn't matter how many action movies you have watched, you shut up give up the wallet and if ur ballsy say something sarcastic.

  • Impressive way to get a very good point across.

  • toss it to the ground, act like ur really scared, wait for him to reach for the wallet or if that false sense of security starts to show and he lowers his guard which ever first.

  • @Wolfsbane909 Great idea. And when his partner shoots you in the stomach, you can all have a good laugh together ;-)

  • @BigBadErik I just love getting shot. It is fun!

  • @BigBadErik good point, I should consider taking Krav Maga as well. Or maybe just spin the guy around and let his partner shoot his friend, HUMAN SHIELD =)

  • Very well spoken .Oss Good luck.

  • flippin awesome

  • VERY nice. :)

  • good martial artist god movie good message well done

  • we martial artist are not coward,we just avoid fights because it will cost more damage than avoiding fight.

  • Your Awesome! Excellent evaluation on all levels. A guys elbow is worth more then a few bucks even if he does not think so. Just because we train to shatter an elbow does not mean we have to at the slightest opportunity..My nephew did run in to the deranged crack addict. He lost his 16 year old life in 2007..so thank you very much for this clip..

  • superb the best choice and safest is usually the most expensive. oh well better your wallet then your life :)

  • Great Video!!

  • EXCELLENT !!! Real self-protection!

One of the best on Youtube.

  • I live in venezuela a latin country and at the end of the video you show a reallity a robber never work alone,, you can beat one but you never know if someone is helping the bad guy... ..

    sorry for my bad english

    @BigBadErik

  • I like the story, like the voice over but the lead in and bumper was too long and slick. I almost didn't watch the rest, glad I did though.

  • I lived in the Hoitsugan.

  • that was really smart! know i know what to do! ha, thank you. you did a job well done! make more, u rock, i love the eledgable bachelor

  • Awesome.

  • Awesome! Makes me want to train in martial arts just so I can hand a mugger my wallet :) Just kiddin. I like the Mushin lesson.

  • well done!!! that was a very accurate depiction of mushin.★★★★★

  • A resounding Osu!

Very nice work. I will be sharing this with my Sensei and Shodai.

    *bow*

  • This is very simple but one of the best illustrations of why you should not only train your body but your mind! Nicely done!

  • i love this vid!

    thanks for making it!

  • Yeah true..

  • Very wise.. I like it

  • Very good video. Made me think...and want to start training again. Thanks.

  • Puts all that "x-do is better than Y-do" in perspective...

    Enjoyed the clip a lot.

Where in Japan did you live and for how long?

  • Dear Peeking,

Thanks for watching! Lived in Japan in 1989 for six months. Went back in 2004.

Lived in the Hoitsugan Dojo in Ebisu, Tokyo.

    Sincerely,

    Erik

  • That's not so far from where I am.

    : D nice.

    Stuck this clip in favorites.

    Be well.

  • By the way , "mind like water", directly translated, would be "mizu no kokoro" .

  • Thanks for your comment. Having lived in Japan, I do know about the direct translation of "mushin", but I think that the *philosophical* translation is "mind like water". Obviously, in the martial arts, one doesn't shut off the mind entirely, but neither does one think rigidly. Thoughts flow in and out, like in zazen.

Also, titling my film "No Mind" sort of seemed odd :-)

  • Very good job. Well done.

  • Awesome! I love it. Great work on everything.

  • Agree with everyone here, great film.

  • That's a part of aikido, for example. Good vid.

  • I like this, it actually shows a lesson that its better not to fight, all u got to do is make the right choices

  • Great video.

  • Nice video quite interesting.
