    Just perfect.

  • This song is better than "ok"! You have preferences (we get that) but, don't (try) to make songs second rate because (you) say so....unless of course you ARE Devo?!...didn't think so!

  • " Devo much like Kraftwerk, brought the innovation that allowed the 80's to be what it is, and allowed the rest to ride on their coat tails.

  • I love the music....I love the 80's this band has it all. Where do I get the PLASTIC HAIR. That would make my year. I love Devo!

  • @tundrahog

They used to have ads in their LP's for ordering energy domes, plastic hair, protective suits, t-shirts, etc.

  • @EBBadd1 ADBLOCK :)

  • Yeah, and don't they say at the end:

"Not me!" as in it's NOT a Beautiful

    World!

    DJ

  • The song is called Its a beautiful world..Yet they are showing images of war, racial violence and the Ku kux klan. Not exactly fitting.

  • Thats the whole point. Irony. Its tongue in cheek its a beautiful world. Its not. Thats what they are saying. Read between the lines. Thats what makes this great.

  • @GavinJ37 You missed class the day they covered sarcasm, didn't you?

  • @dunc0029 Oh hell No. I am the king of sarcasm. Probably how I put up with morons like yourself.

  • I clicked on here to listen to the song "Beautiful World" by Devo and I was shown a video of the Walking Dead with zombies eating people. Only in America, I guess (and hope.)

tralasciando di vedere tutto il resto non ti meraviglieresti affatto di capire ch'è vero

    io parlo proprio così

non hai niente da perdere e com'è bello il mondo visto da qui

  • Thanks for posting this! I’m a huge Mark Mothersbaugh fan. I want to see him in the movie “Programming the Nation.” Is anyone else excited? bit. ly/qUuUCp

  • A god-damn masterpiece...

  • @mitzjob not really a masterpiece, its "ok" and "surrealistic" etc. . over 5 years posted and only 500k hits says something especially for DEVO. Gates of Steel, Thats Good, or Freedom Choice ok, but not this:)

  • @mitzjob absolutely right, and fits right with the times today....

  • Well you see that the far left is a Socialist almost communist view. I have always been politically neutral until this current president and his far left views and spending which are causing our country to go towards failure like all the past civilizations that have gone the socialist route in history. Our founding Fathers are rolling in their graves at the debt we are in. elder if your a true communist them please move to china and see how your views hold up.

  • @Dancinitup - you're a misinformed redneck

  • Fucking BRILLIANT editing, starting at 2:20

  • Gotta be one of the trippiest vids ever made...

  • Didn't Rage Against The Machine do a similar song?

  • @sidearmsalpha RATM did a cover

  • Make's me want break out the vinyl!

  • @kfdave hell yeah! broke out the vinyl yesterday! way better sound.

  • ONE OF THE GREAT VIDEOS BY THE PIONEERS OF ROCK NROLL showing us how it really it is on the planet earth i do hope one day THAT DEVO will play in ct !!!!!!!!!!!!!! thumbs up A ZILLON TIMES

  • I grew up in the 80's. I remember wondering when the bombs would fly. How appropriate this video was.

  • Only the rich really enjoy life.

  • It's a brilliant music video. It isn't beating on the USA in particular; it is beating on human nature and world "civilization" in general. Ambrose Bierce would have loved it.

  • I'm 60% potato

  • If Devo has a problem with America, they should get out!!! That's how democratic republics work, right?

  • @tanvic024. No, you misguided Republican. It is our duty, as citizens, to point out our deficiencies. If you are content, great. There are many who are oppressed, and not thriving. Maybe, instead of complaining, which, by the way, doesn't make sense if you're happy, you could volunteer at a soup kitchen. Leaving the country is a cowardly solution. Your lack of insight is truly glorious!

  • I like the irony of this video.

  • @ elderberry9 Accusations of communism or nazism always seem to come from the fringe politicians and fellow travellers of faux news and msnbc to whom such accusations are most applicable. The founders of the US repuclic are dead, as is the good America that was an example to the other countries. At least the people can still live it in their hearts, even if all governments have turned against their people.

  • loved these guys since college(late 70's early 80's). all my friends that loved rush, kansas and boc thought i was stupid.

  • Cant you just enjoy the music / video for what it is?

  • Far left, far right, there's no difference, they both want to control your life, just in different ways.

  • People on the far left and the far right, need to come together before the politicians that claim to represent us make off with our Beautiful World.

  • The Democrats had control of congress in the 80's. Any change in the budget cuts or otherwise was written by the Democrats. As the the Dem;s used to say, every Reagan budget was dead on arrival.

  • when a clip meant something

  • Only band that makes you think.

  • @NutandCut3 There's a few, but few and far between. This song, specifically, holds true today..I'm sure anyone who understands the video has read 1984 or needs to. Fahrenheit 451 (i think thats the number) too. The government isn't the one who's supposed to take examples from those books and this song, and be expected to change. Society needs to realize them itself, make it's own effort, or they'll be twisted and used counter-productively. I'm not religious, but you could say I pray for that....

  • @desireismyfault Guessing this is about world peace- noticed it on Futurama or something.

  • @joe9320 It shows contrasting scenes like happy, dancing people and a starving child, or people throwing a parade, while a nuclear bomb explodes in another video clip. It makes a point of the world ignoring the problems it still has. World peace is a part of that. "It's a beautiful world, For you....it's not for me." Talking, generally, to the people who think the world is in a decent condition, which, or course, is a naive and possibly ignorant thought. Thats the message it make to me, anyway.

  • @desireismyfault All I can think of is the contrast between rich and poor, humans and mutants (in case of Futurama, in which the song is played in one of the episodes, called "The Mutants Are Revolting")

  • @NutandCut3 try jim carroll band

  • @bobo007xx "Wicked Gravity" is a masterpiece!

  • @NutandCut3 i strongly beg to differ.

  • There are explosions, death, and such, but the happy music is still playing.

    THAT'S why it's freaky.

  • These people should get the highest award ever made for most entertainment!

  • Affirmative.

  • Are we not men ?!

  • Probably their best song, still sounds awesome today!

  • Awesome Clean and Clear Posts... Thanks!

  • i have never heard of this until now. awesome. sound like kraftwerk though.

  • Awesome

  • and one more....

  • Loves me some Devolution! So original and totally awesome. been a fan for more hen 2 decades. Listen to them often. For you..for you..for you..YIPPPPIE!!

  • Booji Boy forever

  • Awesome Photograhic/Video work and Great song Gotta love Ohio MUSIC

  • Kudos to whoever put this up--we're very proud of Devo here in Ohio-fromn the start of their career til the present day.

  • The only problem with this song is that without the video the sarcasm is a little harder to detect, still a great song.

Anyone else find it funny that the Rage Against the Machine cover of this is actually softer than the original? It's a pretty good cover though.

  • @MistaGrieves

I don't find the sarcasm so hard to detect without the video, especially towards the end.

  • great song. although, what's that song you use at the very beginning of the video. doesn't sound half bad either.

  • Very 80s synth pop stylized. Like most 80s vids, it's cheesy, this time Devo making a parody of the world with 1950's Nostalgia.

  • 80's

    fashion= strange

    music= the best ones!!!

  • Always loved this song. Powerful video

  • This IS a good SoNg~

  • Great vid.

It's better today than it was back then. Maybe that's just because I'm older and my fake teenage cynicism has been replaced by real grown-up cynicism.

  • What's Cynicism?

  • always seeing the bad side of stuff, not really trusting anything that seems remotely positive.

  • this wasnt very popular in its day-- but lets see ANYONE write a song today about how "beautiful" the world is. truth is- not much has changed in 30 years. peoples PERCEPTIONS and values have, though. not that 1980 (or that era in general) was Xanadu, but people werent as miserable, cynical, and pessimistic as today. they were more apt to help other people, too, and didnt shut themselves in their homes with an X-box and 5,000 channels of TV. just my thoughts...thanks for uploading this cool vid.

  • thats just so much cooler than that gay with the maschine

  • DEVO must have been big fans of the Parallax View.

  • never heard of Parallas View. a band? a book? ill surf for it.

  • I remember this clip as a kid and i still love it

    Thanks for posting :)

  • So relevant. Even and especially today.

  • Ah yes, the dawn of the Reagan era...

  • @redbearinaz And the end of the horrible Carter era...

  • not me

  • not me

  • Mark Mothersbough and Gerald Casale have said that this video best represents what Devo's message is all about. The image of the starving baby against the backdrop of The Earth states the message pretty clearly. To bad the cooperate spuds over at empty- v wouldn't play it. It might have helped a few more people understand The De-evolutionary message.

  • rage gives it more meaning to it, not that this is bad

  • Straight up Punk. I Love it. Fun Stuff :-)

  • bryll cream

  • I think that was "how to" video about how to remove chewing gum from your hair. Like, if you got drunk and fell asleep while chewing gum, and it ended up in your hair, or your "date" was chewing gum and had an uncontrollable urge to lodge into your hair, or whatever.

  • Please...at 1:26 can someone please tell me, what is that gunk he combs out of his hair?? eeek it drives me crazy

  • 25 years ago i was 17 and my friend made me discover DEVO.

    WHAT A SHOCK !

In 1990/1991 they came in Paris for a show ("la cigale" if i remember the place correctly), it was sad.

The guys were old and their style doesn't match with oldness.

But in the late 70's i saw them like pure genius and i will love them for ever

  • devo were pure genius.

    this video is pure art.

  • man devo rules and rage is just a wigger!!!

  • Not to argue but, ratm are much more than just hip hop

  • rage made this a much better song

  • Devo made this.

    And rage made that.

    The bands are opposites.

    I like Devo's.

  • The song and video are absolute brilliant works of art.

  • Why does the singer have Rod Blagojevich's hair?

  • Take me back to 1981! Or thereabouts.

  • Devo the best band ever perhaps?

  • its very possible

  • They are certainly among the most distinctive.

  • 2:14-2:20 made me laugh REALLY hard for some reason. Booji Boy always makes me laugh.

  • totally awesome

  • rage against the machine did a cover of this song,....its amzing

  • True. Recommend it

  • this is STiLL, the best thing ever

  • Complete and utter genius.

  • Correctamundo!

  • shame the lyrics now dont pertain to this mad fucked up world.80s were a good time. full of hope. beautiful for some not others sadly.

  • I think the lyrics pertain to today - any time really. Just depends on your perspective. One could argue that the 80s were just as bad as today - the Cold War, superficiality, drug wars, etc etc etc.

  • it's a fucking parody, you retard.

  • Urm... the song is sarcastic. The 80s where fucking awfull. It was the Regan era after all. Thatcher was at the peak of her power in Britian too.

  • Sounds like you'd rather have become communist. Reality check there, dude!

  • Why is it that people on the far right always accuse anyone who disagrees with there political opinions as being a Communist? To be honest, haven't the last eight years been a little like a police state? I think The Founding Fathers must have been rolling in their graves all this time!

  • @elderberry9

Maybe because the communists are partially responsible for false accusations of turning the country into a police state. The operative word in that sentence is "partially." Those on the far-right have made similar accusations and they're just as untrue.

  • @elderberry9 Many communist countries are also police states. Just ask anyone who lives in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea =P

  • @TheGreenlanterncorps You sound like you are calling me a communist. Nothing that I said in my letter would indicate that, so you have essentially helped prove my point.

  • @elderberry9 No you're just putting words in my mouth. I'm simply pointing out that ideas like communism and a police state aren't necessarily exclusive to each other.

  • @elderberry9 Spinning like a crocodile maybe.

  • @elderberry9 Just comb your hair, you sheep, your words show me that you fell into your own trap.

  • @elderberry9 perhaps if they attached dynamos it could solve the energy crisis?

  • @elderberry9 the founding fathers were 33 degree masons,lucifarian/satanists.

    suprised?

    you will be....

  • @elderberry9 and the last two years are putting us in the grave...

  • @elderberry9 To be a communist is not bad. I'm proud of it.
