You don't need to read the graphic novel to understand the movie, but it does explain a lot of things that the movie didn't have time to address. That said, people who watched this looking for the usual superhero fare came off disappointed, thankfully. These idiots who want to pay to see the same shit over and over again just repackaged need to be separated from their money. For my money, this was the best "superhero" flick I ever saw. Have to say the whole thing really blew me away. Of course the visuals were great, but it was the honest of the storytelling that got me.
As Nate says, these "superheroes" do things that even the dark heroes don't dare. Like hurting and killing people just for the hell of it. Like having super sex in their super suits.
The "heroes" in this are all borderline psychos...

Dude, Rorschach is amazing! And yeah, the Comedian was a douchebag. And to add to the Bob Dylan song, there was a Bob Dylan remake of Along The Watchtower during the spaceship thingy sex scene
I saw it opening day....and the blue cock in my face at random times kind of imo took away from the movie....i went into the movie expecting more and left disappointed =(

The movie was crap.
It was far too boring, it seems to be the only superhero movie that doesn't have any good action sequences.
