  • You could give me some (all) of those :P

  • I think that Aichi has lots of historic treasure, because we have found them in prefecture has a castle so far. I would like to go your house as treasure hunter .

    ヘ( ´Д`)ノ

  • i so want the teapot , why didn't you put it on ebay ?

actuality i didn't find anything in you're ebay page

  • Oh dude want soo much!! If you put them on ebay ill buy the crap out of them hahha

  • Do people have yard sales in Japan?

  • are you willing to sell any of those treasures?

  • Cool items!

  • I took a look at the ebay page, the 'Two mystery Japanese sake cups' are made of alabaster.

  • START A BAR!!!!!!

  • wow those are beautiful pieces!

  • I'm interested in the tea pots, I hope to see them up on ebay soon

  • @SmilingMaram he was saying a lot of people don't want to pay shipping from japan but for the teapots its worth don't you think? i would LOVE some authentic japanese clay teapots

  • As a collector of Japanese antiques, I can tell you selling such things on ebay to foreigners can be rather lucrative. I have spent a good deal of my money on such things and the prices are usually always high if you have an item of quality or rarity.

  • I know many others have said the same, but my husband and I are very interested in some of the lacquer ware, regardless of the shipping cost. We'll be keeping an eye on your auctions to see what you're willing to part with. =) Enjoyed the videos very much and look forward to seeing your progress on the house!

  • you should definitely put more stuff on ebay......please

  • I would love to bid/purchase some of these items from you on ebay. I too would love to see what's inside the Imperial Japanese Army box, and if it is anything nice would bid on it.

Hope the post cost doesn't break the bank.

  • WHOA

  • I would absolutely love to bid on that monkey. Looks so awesome.

  • Seems you've hit the jackpot ;D

  • I get stuff from Japan ans China all the time on Ebay.I've got no problem with the shipping. The sake stuff I'll bid on.

  • You didn't throw out the booze did you!?

  • a lot of the stuff you've shown in the video I'd happily bid on via eBay.

  • time for a yard sale??

  • is that playstation going on ebay ?

  • @muiyee78

oh really? thanx for the info. appreciate it if you know the title of the video!

And I've got one more discovery guys.

The monkey @1:05 looks like a work of Kōun Takamura (高村光雲), who is one of the most greatest sculptors in Japan.

his famous work called "Ro-en" (老猿) is a little bit similar to the monkey. It it's a real thing, this guy will be a billionaire lol just joking!

  • Maybe a giveaway to a lucky viewer ???:)

  • nice stuff ! but i think the problem are the shipping bills :< i wouldn't buy a item where the shipping price is higher than the price of the bought item,

  • I would love one or more of the bento boxes... no matter what the postal fee is =)

  • watching your ebay lol to be honest i'd expect a higher postage if its packed well and safe.

  • what does saki taste like? allways wanted to know as its not sold here or near me :/

  • Really liking these farmhouse vids. Just keep an eye on your gardener he looks a little shifty to me. All the best with your Ebay venture, it can be fun and profitable just watch out for the scammers, they like to target new sellers.

  • $__$

  • I would bid on Bento boxes... 100% sure thing!!

  • Yeah the cost for Post is going to really hurt your sales outside of Japan. No country on earth has as good of internal logistics as Japan but they're not the best at external logistics. Sometimes it's actually cheaper to fly to Japan and pick it up than to have it shipped. x3

  • Those antique hairpins are still very cool!

  • You are right about the postage. I still send things to Japan and it is always much more than the item is worth.

  • When I lived in Japan the omiyage thing was out of control. We had a huge drawer full of gifts that we did not want and would regift that stuff. It was a curse of that society, I felt. Don't mean to be hard, but the gifting was a real nuisance and I'm sure most of your stuff was omiyage.

  • do the japanese have garage sales? lol

  • OH. MY GOD! I wish I had the money to buy some of this stuff. The lacquer work is gorgeous.

  • 30.00 dollar shipping? Yeah I don't think so.

  • I saw a Japanese old military box!

  • wow i love those japanese tea cups, i wish i had those...

  • Hi TheJapanChannel! I heard about an interesting type of japanese candy that is popular in japan called Sakuma Drops. Can you do a video on that please? Thanks!

  • How wonderful! I'm a big fan of your channel I'll be watching for your things on ebay!

  • I am definitely interested in some of this stuff... hope to see more up on ebay.

  • I hope you will put more items that you don't want......on Ebay...I like to buy somethings...

  • Very nice. It's like inheriting a Wal-Mart.

I'll wait to bid until you get a tea set up.

  • @smokeydoke100 man, walmart jokes are always good for a laugh.

  • How much for a set of Sake cups and bottle?

  • I hope you will put many more items on ebay - ;)

  • @kirisutonosubete

If this first one is worthwhile - and not too much hassle - we will add more.

(So far, mostly reading lots of complaining about the Japan Post cost.. so not looking likely.)

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom Ebay buyers are extremely anal when it comes to shipping costs. My tactic is to start my item at a higher price and keep shipping rates low (even if it's below your cost), just balance out your prices so you make a profit, It works for me.

  • @haromoni2008 not all of us! ahem

  • @jr2nd my apologies, I should have said some.

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom If there are really nice sets of Sake cups, it would probably be worthwhile to post it on Ebay.

  • i would buy some of the more expensive stuff considering the shipping is $30...

  • lol i would buy the bento xD

  • So ineradicable!

  • you should put the monkey and the bull ornaments on ebay

  • $30 shipping

    o___O

  • You definitely hit the jackpot!

  • How cool is that? I'll definitely buy a sake set from you brah! I'll watch this one and wait for more. Maybe you can offer 1 lower price for shipping if buyer wins multiple items.

  • do Japanese people have yard sales?

  • I liked the laqured boxes too!Everything you showed was awsome!Keep up the good work and good luck on the house.I look forward to seeing more of it.Thank you!

  • Did they leave any of the farm equiptment ? I thought there was a small tractor in the original video when you first went to see the house . Man I'm jealous , I really liked that house . Well at least we can see the improvements as they progress .

  • I like the laqured boxes.

  • 日本人の目から見ても、価値ある物が一杯...

    大切にしてくださいね〜。

  • @dupe1100

    例えばどれ?

  • @vlgi- there are second-hand shops there. When I worked at one, I would actually get someone from Japan buying stuff from us to sell at their shop in Japan.

  • That snake pot was awesome.

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom

One thing I've noticed that differs in different countries is a cultures attitude towards second hand things, so in the UK you have your charity shops where you can take stuff you don't need, and people can buy stuff from them, In France(Paris) for instance I never saw a charity shop in the 4 years I lived there, (though I didn't go looking specifically), are there places in Japan for second hand or unwanted stuff like charity shops etc?

  • $30 shipping !! does it really cost that mutch ?

  • wow I hope to be able to snag a few things

  • hey guys look 1:13

I'm just surprised that I found the words"大日本帝國軍隊" on the side of the box , which means the "Imperial Japanese Army" in English!!

I really do want to know what iside the box is... I bet that must be something cool

  • @FiredEmpire I think it was the books of history. One of his vid showed that.

  • I'm really interested in those lacquered boxes!

  • the crane kanzashi are beautiful, shame i'm a poor student or i'd make an offer on them :(

  • MONKEY!!!! *head explodes* ...I love monkies. :3

  • If this was in the US you could have made a lot of money by selling them to antiques dealers or even on ebay. I think in Japan people tend to discard older items and antiques. It's a shame because you found a lot of nice things ^_^

  • YARD SALE!!!!

  • Free loot ftw!

  • Yea !! The Japan Channel Sake cup giveaway!!! LOL :P great vid. I envy you, I love to fix up old places.

  • Simply amazing. That eBay thing is an excellent idea.

  • Sweet you did Ebay them Thumbs up!

  • Do they have garage sales in Japan.......if so you could have one. LOL

  • those 'hair thingies', arent they called kanzashi?

  • One mans trash is another Mans treasure. Cant wait for more stuff to show up on ebay! Added you to my list of Favorite sellers

  • Wow...looks like you hit the motherload!!

  • I really, really want one of those brown sake containers. I want to use it for a vase and would pay the shipping too.

As others have said, the shipping is going to scare some bidders off, that's about right to send something by regular international post. I've bought things from Japan before that was shipped via container and that price was substantially better, but it took forever for it to get to me. I'd personally pay the 10 bucks difference to get it in less than 6 weeks :)

  • Sorry, I had an email address for that but it would let me post until I deleted it. I don't know how to get around it.

  • Ouch, your shipping costs are going to be a killer. I've sold stuff to people in Japan on eBay and they use a sort of "re-shipping service" that pools items from hundreds of different buyers into one shipping container to lower shipping costs. Once the shipping container gets to Japan, it's then mailed to the individual addresses. I think that how it works. Maybe they work in reverse, ship from Japan to the US, Australia, Europe.

  • Thank you for the video, thumbs up.

  • wow you have big shipping rates for standard, but nevertheless nice stuff!

  • why not give them to a tea ceremony school?

  • the shipping is way too expensive. well i have to say that i am almost on the other side of the wolrd.... thats a pity i would buy them

  • 300 shot glasses!

  • how exciting! I'm thrilled to see the progress so far. You've done an amazing job :) I really hope the ebay thing goes well, I'll have to check it out myself!

  • Past owner must have traded in goods .

  • ebay here i come.

  • did you ever expect anything that big when you bought that house?

  • i honestly wouldnt throw anything away (unless broken)

  • We put one set of sake cups and bottles on eBay...

if it turns out to be worthwhile.. and not too much hassle.. we will put more on there..

(Link is in the video description.)

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom

Its awsome that your doing that I will surly bid on the set about but if you could please put up a bento box. Sake cup are fairly easy to find in Los Angeles but those bento boxes are rare. Thanks again Cheers.

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom I'll buy that for a dollar!

  • Really Kool!

  • i want all the things

  • Pretty cool.

  • Going to buy bento box >:]
