Inspired by the Australian Merino Innovation tour, Chinese brand partners have unveiled their latest products across womens, mens, baby, sport, urban and outdoor-wear.
“Having experienced the landscape, animals and people behind Merino wool, the natural fibre has become an ingredient for us to develop new garments for our fast changing market here in China,” ICICLE Designer Vanessa Yao said.
The brands launched their 2011 Merino wool collection at the I Love Merino event in Shanghai.
CARBON-neutral wool from environmentally-conscious Australian growers will supply a deal signed by The Merino Company with the world's largest suit retailer in Melbourne this week.
The Merino Company on Wednesday signed with Aoyama of Japan to supply 17.5-20.5 Merino wool over a three year period. Shipments started in May this year.
The suits will be marketed under the Balanced ZeroCO2 wool brand with Aoyama market suits with zero carbon footprint.
WOOL prices have reached their highest levels in US dollar terms in 20 years, with growers finally positioned to reaping the benefits of a long-term global shift in demand. US brands and retailers who visited the AWI stand to examine the innovations included Gap, Club Monaco, Dillard’s, Brooks Brothers, Nautica, Lands’ End, Macy’s, PVH, Calvin Klein, Victorinox and Marc Jacobs. The AWI collections had been a great success, and that US interest in natural fibres had been the best for many years.
