wtf its like fucking 2010 i mean iv got a vintege stereo its a fisher and it has big ass speakers love it but the amp has lots of probs but it works ok look old sound systems r cool old tv is not cool cus at least my stereo is compatible with the thing now a days imean its no hdmi or optical but it has left and right rca conecters so i can hook all my crap to it
@N64Guy well none of that new stuff existed when these were made obviously, though the post 1985 sony trinitron tv sets have a composite in with good enough quality
Did you encounter any problems at Daily Usage, for a TV from 1979 it should be burn out by now.My TV is From 1993 -1997 i don't know the exact date but it already as it share of problems especialy with one of the tubes it starting to wiggle the picture sometimes but stops ounce it heats up.
@TheAir59 With a TV from 1993-1997 I would expect it to stop working. However a television set from the early 1980's or older would continue to work much better for decades. This TV here is older and is a Zenith; two qualities which make it still operational. These TVs are relatively easy to repair, and are worth doing so.
i have a 1978 RCA XL100 going right now in my front room with a digital tuner on it that I got for like 6 or 7 dollars with my govt voucher, that tv hasnt been turned off in about 7 or so years at least, the on/off knob broke years ago and you have to use a pair of needle nose pliers, so i just turn the sound down and leave it on, been years since its been off, i guess I unplugged it last year when I hooked up the digital box, maybe i didnt, i cant remember
@teendude16 It is perfectly safe if you know the operational status of it. You just need to make sure it is serviced and continue to do so when needed.
as someone who has an old tv and doesnt see the point in buying a new tv untill my old 1971 hmv dies i use a Set top box. Run it through the AV plugs on your dvd or vcr recorder or you can get a conversion box with plugs.
If its because the DTV converter uses coax cable and the TV is only equipped with those two screws where the antenna would hook up, then yes, you just need to get a $3 converter from an electronics store. I can't rmemeber what those are called but if you explain it someone will know...
All my digital broadcast TV reception problems were solved when I installed a $50 antenna from Radio Shack in my attic. It looks like a flying saucer and has a built-in rotor controlled by an RF remote control which can be used anywhere in this house. Now, all the channels come in perfectly. I had to plug its AC adapter into the second light bulb (using a screw-in converter) socket in the fixture above my stairs, though.
i have the same problem with my antenna im only able to get 4 channels usually which is 7.1 7.2 and PBS. if i move away from the antenna it gets all blocky it might be cause i live on the 1st floor im not sure
get a better antenna. that's the sign of low reception. digital tv is all there or not there at all. problem is, stations want to be an ass and broadcast digital with 50 Kw on channel 58 or something.
is your digital receiver available at retail stores? I saw another video of the new ones coming out for the transition of analog to digital, but was wondering if this one is available for purchase, either localy or online?
Absolutely disgusting that PBS stations are putting their logos on the screen. Public TV was supposed to be a relief from the annoyances found on commercial TV.
Good video, once I get my two "Uncle Sam Special" boxes, I'll try the same with my 1964 Sony B&W TV. BTW, glad to make the first comments, I'm an AK'er and I use the same name there.

I noticed when you turned to CBS that the CBS logo and rating were cut off. Why doesn't it fit the screen?

It's amazing how the tables have turned--now an antenna will give you a better picture than cable or satellite!
tiger7577 3 years ago
Set up enough transmitters and people might just cancel the cable or satellite. Save that money for gasoline and food.
