  • proud to be filipino..

  • one way to find out if these moves are suited for real life fighting is to fight the hardcore filipino fighters. if there are news of knife fighting here in the philippines surely there are dead people.

  • the shorter the fightthe better

  • great!!!!!!!!!!

  • Good vid....freakin ninjas!!!

  • really enjoyed the footage thank you for sharing.

  • that's how Assassins came to world :)

  • One thing that does bug me about these demonstrations, not that they're not awesome, is that the "attacker" stops moving once the first hit lands. I'm assuming this is NOT what would happen in a real life situation?

  • @Elvirth24 Each movement is drilled in isolation and trained to perfection first. Just like a boxer throws thousands of jabs against heavy bags, focus mitts, without resistance before sparring. The isolated movement teaches the student exactly how to engage. As each movement can be used offensively and defensively, once we move in with an offensive attack, we can move directly to another, disengage, or defend if needed. So we go back and forth first to learn it, then spar to apply it.

  • great job :)

  • As a police officer, I think too many people worry about the legal aspects, because they aren't well informed. The most likely scenario in which a knife defense would be used is if your life is in danger. Under those circumstances, it would be easy to justify your actions. You just have to consider whether that level of force is justified. Recently in the city where I work, a woman stabbed a would-be rapist 20 times. We didn't arrest her...it was self-defense.

  • Just a little question: are these moves really suited for real life knife fighting? because in honesty, they look a little too fancy rather than practical.

  • @nunvikingsofthesea We tend to make the movements a little bit bigger and the exchanges a little cleaner in these vids to make it more visually appealing and entertaining to watch.

  • @nunvikingsofthesea

I really doubt that you would need to apply most of these techniques in a real attack.

Soon as the attacker feels a slice (which is usually to the weapon hand/wrist) or stab to torso he will most likely process what has happened & flee, even to possibly collapse in the process.

  • @nunvikingsofthesea

My squad leader teaches almost identical drills, and uses pieces of them effectively in knife on knife sparring. You'll never perfectly pull off a sequence of moves used for a drill but you'll use bits and pieces. It's just to teach a person different options and ingrain them through patterns of movement that can be repeated.

  • @nunvikingsofthesea Yes it's designed to look appealing, but the exaggeration isn't by much at all and you're taught the real shit once you're in anyways.

Plus, just because something is fancy, doesn't make it less effective. Just means you have to be better skilled to use it effectively.

  • Awesome...wish I lived In SD...I would definitely take your classes!

  • wow!...deadly.

  • wow i have never seen something so amazing and presist i hope they have a class neer me

  • this is Really cool! the knife fighting I learned has more of a fencing approach to it.

  • Hi, good video! I found specially interesting the training in the tiny room, that's very cool! I presume training there add a lot more of stress for the students and also makes them be concentrated all the time, just to no talk about the excellent fitness involved.

    Thank you for sharing this!

  • but arnt the attacker moving around instead of standing there in still.

  • @greatbeaner07 yea, but its not like your standing still too, right?

  • this guy so good

  • this guy so god

  • this dude too fast

  • this dude fast as fuck

  • that lady got stabbed in her ass 0:08. ouch!!!

  • the ladies look more dangerous than the instructor

  • dude straight up..... thats all i have to say... straight up......

  • I just was in the mood to look for some nice knife fighting videos and stumbled upon yours. This stuff looks amazing and the videos are really entertaining to watch. Thank you.

  • man I wanna learn how to use anytype of weapon, empty, handed, knife, stick, blades, etc....

  • I like what you said about the legal, moral, and psychological ramifications involved in using a blade. My FMA instructor had me go to a pig farm and help them with their annual slaughter of the hogs so I could get a better perspective on killing with a knife. While it was nowhere near as serious as killing a human being, taking a life and moving a blade through flesh helped me to be more aware of the psychological aspect..

I am by no means an expert but I think you guys look pretty good..

  • excellent vid FMA inspired?, knowledge of the blade is VERY VERY important it's the language of the street and of criminals even if you're a bjj blackbelt, a well placed stab will end everything. In the Philippines , some familiarity is quite advantageous self defense-wise, good luck safe training.

  • Everyone assumes that after killing an attacker with moves like these, (which ARE quite lethal) you would just stick around and call police. My question to you all is this: Have you ever been mugged, or attacked on the street at night? Did the police ever find them? I didn't think so. I pull from personal experience here when I say that you WILL NOT get caught. Doubly so if there is no one to call police.

  • i like how arteries and oregans are emphasized. especially the transition between severing them to severing major muscles and ligaments/tendons while manipulating the body. people think that someone always bleeds out fast. not true. you must be thorogh. its not brutal or barbaric. its being efficient. great vid

  • that's just brutal... if he really fought against anyone with a knife

  • This system is so fluent & effective. Great stuff.

  • you have some sick moves ,thank you for posting this

  • Hey first off that was a freakin sweet video! You guys look really good when you are sparring I was really impressed with you guys n gals.

    Fieldpup

  • Great moves. Like the integration behind empty hand and the knife!

  • HOW OLD DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO TRAIN?

  • Do you guys train with the karambit ?

  • How long on average does your training regimin last ?(are there belt levels etc?)also how long to gain a solid level of proficientcy .

  • That is Hotttt !!! Drill,Drill,Drill.

  • That's Hottttt !!!!!! Drill,Drill,Drill. Nice.

  • I'm curious , is the knife/dagger real during training?

  • No, those are aluminum trainers. Most people don't use live blade. Some people will use one to demonstrate that something does work or not, but most of the time everyone uses dummies.

  • This are some amazing moves. But one thing is, if this is for self defense, the training you teach is just straight up killing. In a real situation, if you and the attacker has a knife and you kill the guy, you go to jail. At least in other forms of FMA they train so you cut the guy defensivley. Not stabbing the guy in the throat 20 times.

  • Thank you for the comments. In addition to teaching how to use the blade, we also have our students study the laws regarding the use of lethal force, and local statutes regarding the carrying and use of blades. We also routinely show them pictures of actual knife wounds after sparring sessions so that they understand the damage they are actually doing. In short, we make sure that our students understand the legal, moral, and psychological ramifications involved in using a blade.

  • Fair enough. I suppose it is good to learn all the aspects of the blade. Regardless, your training seems to be very proficient. If i had the option of training with you, I most definitely would.

  • If you ever find yourself in southern California we would love to have you stop in and train with us! Keep in touch!

  • @LibreFighting OMFG UR IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA wewt where u life? i life in fresno

  • @LibreFighting where in So Cal??

  • hello scott Im having problems getting the first ten videos can you help?

  • @LibreFighting you guys rock. I would love to integrate this knife technology into our Krav Maga.......................

  • True, but if you are reacting to defend your life. I doubt the law will pop into your mind, it's either kill or be killed. But your point is still valid, it's a shame the law can work for the bad guy too.

  • I've found that less than lethal cuts and stabs are normally close to the lethal targets so you can easily adjust for that. But at the same time it can look like you were trying to torture and maim him instead of defend yourself. It can really be a lose-lose situation either way. But like Machiavelli says if you have to hurt a man, hurt him bad enough that you don't have to fear his vengeance.

  • @BushidoBudo9000 I think you are absolutely misled. If you have ever trained in the Philippines you would quickly realize Kali is VERY offensive, alot of the American influence has rendered it defensive to cater to our Self-defense laws. These guys at Libre are TOP NOTCH in their approach.

  • @BushidoBudo9000 If your are defending against a lethal threat and have justifiable self-defense, it makes no difference that you "both have knives", what if he had a knife and you shot him?? what is the difference? lethal force is lethal force. I work in an armed profession so I deal with these potentials daily.

  • @BushidoBudo9000 thats incorrect. FMA is first and foremost not about defense at all! FMA are offensive systems. ive been involved with FMA for 16 years. Many other forms of FMA train just like this. its nothing new. to be defensive is based on what you choose to do in a fight in that particular situation. in FMA your defense is "in" your offense!

  • direct to the point..:) awesome..top notch!! 5/5 rating:)

  • ^L^, 5/5

  • what the name of the song

  • "Young" by Hollywood Undead

  • what the name of the song in this vedio

  • The knifefighting on the ground against stand up opponants was some of the hottest footage Ive seen! Great post!

  • nice

  • GREAT very great skills

  • The Filipino Art of War..nice vid. SALUTE!!

  • Hey man, this is incredible, I've been doing Filipino kali now for about a year, and I love this stuff. Keep up the good work my friend.

  • Such things should have taken a lot of training, although great job ! very quick and such effectiveness

  • wow thats awsome you guys arnt training with reel blades are you becuse they seem to have a matalic shine to them ? just wondering eny ways awsome video i am tacking mental notes haha

  • LOL, we're not THAT crazy. They are aluminum training knives. Very dull. The Piper System guys in South Africa ARE that crazy! They train (and spar) with real Okapis!

  • thats good to no wouldent want ya geting hurt and being unable to make eny more awsome videos wow thats intense about the guys in africa hard core man keep the videos comming cant get enouf

  • I guessed you would use those training knives, but I think you have to be very concentrated not to stab your partner's eye out...

  • What FMA systems inspired your knife art?

  • I have a suggestion for your. It will be good if you do some clip showing the knives and other weapons used on your techniques.

  • nice video...im from manila and one of practioner of kali... nice i liked the song and moves! more power!

  • Hi~~ Nice video!! love you guys way of training, can anyone tell me what is the name of this song, Please!! Thanks!!

  • The song is called "Young" by Hollywood Undead. The album is Swan Songs. Can't recommend it enough, the whole album kicks ass.

  • Nice and all, but I dont see any skirmish fights, only some guys practicing moves while the other guys just stands still...

  • Ive haven't put up any sparring footage because is just isn't as much fun to watch for the casual viewer. But I'll be putting a new video up in a couple of weeks advertising our DVD, which has footage of our techniques being used in sparring I'll include some of that in the next vid so everyone can check it out.

  • Good stuff. I'll look you guys up when I get down there.

  • May I just say that it is really good to see people out side of Philippines studying & understanding the effectiveness of our art, and being able to be efficient to cause the most amount of damage in the least amount of time. All the students both men and women in the video displayed good timing and accuracy with the knife & empty hand. Sadly there are lots of clips out on youtube with Filipino Martial Arts slapped on it or worse wanna be's watching clips and posting their own=(

  • That was some real good stuff, I like the ground knife work...very cool. I would never trade hands with my knife in mid attack though.

  • more videos plzzzzzz

  • absolutely amazing

  • Nice cameo by big Joe.

  • oh hell yeah Scott. Tearing shit up.

  • Great video, great music

  • always nice to watch your work!

  • Nice work dude! Love the new video.
