Very interesting... the media painted the tea parties as an angry mob ... comparatively... I'd say this makes the tea parties look like a church social... ha ha
Oh, I can't even get through the first minute of this, it makes me too sad. I wasn't there---I was down on Pennsylvania Avenue, getting though a closed parade gate by some amazing stroke of luck in the form of one sympathetic police officer---but I know I stood in the street crying for a few minutes before that, when I thought I would miss the whole thing. I can only imagine the sadness of being shut out. So sorry it happened to you.
"Bullrush those cops"????? FYI, idiot....those cops were doing their jobs! And My cousin was one of them! Trying to control a mob of unreasonable people.
You consider thousands of people with tickets who've been standing in line for hours, after flying from all corners of the country UNREASONABLE for being shut out at the very last minute? With no other way of witnessing the inauguration? Really?
I sure do....the police officers aren't the ones that made the decision. And of course an unruley crowd is going to blame SOMEONE! Might as well take it out on the officers!
And to add to that, one of "those cops" said to another one of "those cops," right in front of me, that he had no idea what was going on and he was hoping someone would take control of the situation.
Oh, we left at not long after 11:30 because we were told they weren't letting people in. We saw the security scanners sitting around as if they had nothing to do, which made is very mad. The orange line security personnel were packing up there stuff. I was wondering why they could reroute some of us over there. Of course no one was communicating anything.
we were too far back to see this. What time did it happen? No wonder people from the front were coming back through saying there was no way to get it.
Just horrible, how could they do that? There was no reason to close the gate, the areas weren't full and the inauguration was just getting started. Who ordered the gate closed? The DC police have no answers, just excuses, someone should be held accountable! Reminds me of a war movie or something. Too bad the crowd didn't bullrush those cops.
Oh my god watching this is so hard. I was right there with you. You can first spot me at minute 1:48. I'm on the right - I have a brown hood with light colored fur - I am shoved up against a military policeman, crying and begging him to let us in - realizing my chance to see history is about to be lost. By minute 2:03 the gate swings shut in my face, and my heart breaks.

How dramatic. They should have had someone communicating, but it kind of looks like the cops just got fed up and decided to close the gate.
