I tried this a while ago and it didn't work on me -- I am a bit resistant to suggestions in general and authority. I tried it again today because I had recently watched some of your erotic videos (wow!), and this time the fingers on my left hand definitely moved apart. The right hand fingers also separated but only slightly.

The amount of people amazed by this is shocking. The reason your fingers move is because that is the position your fingers naturally want to take, especially if you relax or put your focus on them. The same thing happens when you try to place your index fingers close together without touching. Naturally they will begin to come together. No hypnosis here, or magic for that matter, just your body doing something it would've done on its own.

I think the issue here is how the subject interprets the instructions. Was "Do the same thing with your right hand" only supposed to refer to the focus on the finger, or was it also supposed to refer to the separation of the fingers.

@jess858789 You entered a state of hypnosis (or rather, an alternate state of awareness) the moment you allowed yourself to follow the instructions that were given :)

This is the kind of test a hypnotist/hypnotherapist would use to determine what induction would work best on a person, to help induce the state of hypnosis.

Ps.: You don't have to close your eyes to experience hypnosis... the classic example is when you're driving on a highway, think about it :)

I was thinking no way can this work but as soon as you started talking my left hand fingers moved apart....I was trying to close them back together but couldn't. It was like I had no energy to pull them back together . It worked for me! But I wasn't really sure if I should seperate my fingers on purpose but I was focusing on my middle finger and somehow I felt my fingers seperate and they were, even though I wasn't doing it on purpose or forcing them.

It felt like some sort reflex in my fingers that wanted to seperate them.

Or more like trying to keep them together and seperating them at the same time, does that make sense?

But I can't really tell if this is hypnosis or just the reflex in your fingers.

Yes! I watched your pendulum video first, so I was feeling great. I tried this, and my fingers didn't spread apart painfully, they just kinda shook- almost vibrated- and slowly reached a point where none were touching.

When you were silent for the 2nd hand, I didn't notice anything happening until I felt the same vibration- much more of a shaky feeling with the 2nd hand. I would describe it as looking similar to a spasm. The amazing thing was it spread the same amount- at the same speed!

It worked. It's a combination of mind confusion and muscle relaxation. You have to use muscles in your hands and fingers to keep your fingers together like that, and when you're relaxed that's very hard to do. As long as your mind and body are relaxed, it appears that your fingers are coming apart on their own (because they are) for no apparent reason. When you switch hands, your mind isn't multi-tasking (so it's no longer thinking about the previous hand), thus your fingers may remain apart.

Left separated, it was like they couldn't stay together, it actually hurt to keep them together. However, the right hand would not separate, it was like in the back of my mind something was telling me to keep them together. Odd.
