@superspocko Agreed but you gotta add Screaming for Vengance to that list. It kinda set the tone for the early 80s. I heard that record everywhere I went beack then.
great footage the audiece needs to chill on the clapping though. great soloi oh wait it was just chopped off wtf!!!TYHAT BLOWS CUTIING GLENN OF BASTARD!!
The thing I love about 70s metal is that the guitar lines were just so melodic and memorable. It's the sounds and melodies of these solos that made me want to play guitar. It's a shame that metal guitar became all about speed and technique... People really don't play like this anymore.

I do believe that they did a re-mix especially for this show, then lip-synced, air-guitar'd the whole thing. That sort of decision is largely out of the band's hands anyway. In any case, thanks for posting a great song by a great band.
Live vs recorded: - just to jump into the debate, I'll say the answer is not cut and dry. In the 70's (at least here in the West), when a band played on TV, the lead vocals were live, everything else was pre-recorded - even when the song fades out, and the musicians just stop playing. But this video of Exciter appears to be the OPPOSITE. Consider that Glenn's solo is not mixed well at all (sounds live), but Rob's vocals in the chorus are done with THREE-part harmony, all Rob, all in the studio.
This isnt live. This is the song from the album with clapping and static added over. Plus if you notice, at 1:39 when he starts singing "fire on your tongue" you notice hes singing in two octaves at the same time, meaning......ALBUM. You cant sing in two octives at the same time in reality. lol.
@KISS4evr u are an IDIOT Kiss4ever . The album DOES have the drums at the beginning and it IS THE ALBUM VERSION. Any dimwit with half a Judas Priest brain would know this. By the way...Kiss SUCKS!!!!
WOW. WTF was up with cutting off the end of this song?!?!?! I was loving it, video quality and audio quality of the live performance was great. I'm happy to see it but also unusually pissed at it having been prematurely and forcibly ended.
favsncrap have right , mostly for many guys metal means louder noyse or wore in black , judas when realesed stained class , alredy had masteryin the metal music , perhaps not yet sold millions like during the eightys, wore in leather ,but judas has done metal in seventys , the best era of judas doesnt matter bob wore hippe outfit they rock forever
Sorry...I meant these comments to jawbreaker666's video of Rob in the white gown. The band rocks harder in the jawbreaker666 version of exciter in the 5:51 length vid. This is great, too. Pre-Leather!!!!
Man...Rob Halfor looks especially gay back then. Especially the outfit and little hands up in the air. But God!! Do they fucking rock!! Les Binks (I think) fucking lays it down! Glenn and KK are light years ahead back then. It's still is way heavier than the bullshit garbage, screaming nonsense of todays metal.
def.... most metal noobs think that making the music more lower tuned (sounding more like todays crappy hiphop music beats / tones) and not singing properly is heavy.... for me og metal is heavy.. sabbath also \m/ hell even queen is more metal than todays crap
yup. I think metal isn't really metal anymore. Metal began with high vocals, standard tuned guitars for the most part. I think. The real metal bands are like priest, sabbath, wishbone ash, Megadeth, Overkill, Angel Witch, venom, Saxon, Death Angel, Exodus. Pretty much anything until Pantera. since the 90's there hasn't really been a new band I've liked. And another sucky thing is ozzy is endorsing that shit with his nu metal circus of ozzfest.
yeh i agree.. alota mid to late 60s stuff is awesom early metal...Uriah Heep etc. the underground still exists true metal is now back underground which is kinda good in some ways.. whats sad is i dont think the true underground will resurface again

For me, besides the plagiarism*, it's mostly the gratuitous use of cookie monster vocals (then there's pig squeals in regards to "deathcore" bands).
