The US should havs simply said "We won't allow you to have nuclear weapons, but if you pursue them, we'll send a few to you!" and been prepared to do an all out strike there. Afterwards, south Korea could have taken over the north which would have helped south Korea produce cheaper goods and also built up the north. Bill Clinton thought about attacking, but chickened out. Having a nuclear north Korea is something that should have never been allowed to happen. The same goes for Iran.
