I'm trying to think of a word. It is not dystopia, but something like it. The word means "a system that inherently collapses." I think it is a physics term. This word is what we the Earth are. There is no way to stop our implosion. We can slow the bleeding a little but we cannot stop the bleeding. Can someone help me with the word I am thinking of?

@AlexBrasil123123 Yes, this is insane! Materialism leads to a rapacious attitude/mentality. We have become desensitized and calloused as a people. Despite material wealth, and the so-called trappings of success, statistics (such as Roper Quality of Life Surverys) indicate that we are more neurotic and less satisfied with our quality of life. So, materialism and consumerism are tantamount to some kind of addiction. That is, these isms are actually making us miserable yet we want more and more.

Fortunately for us, it is a rule that perfection does not exist. It allowed for gravitation to create aggregates in an expanding space, thus galaxies and planets and stars; and it allowed for evolution on Earth.

Similarly, I think, our society isn't perfect as a system and there will be at least a few more Chomskys to tell us to look forward, that we may hit a wall and, with chance, imperfection will again strike, preventing the sequence to follow to its end.

I think we all know that Chomsky is a living god, but I think we need to progress through our times. Chomsky is old, yet his message is never old. If we want a revolution, we need to start listening to others, such as Naomi Wolf, Vincent Bugliosi, Amy Goodman, etc.

These are the people of OUR times, that will help us proceed through OUR struggle, not Howard Zinn, not Chomsky, and not anybody who is approaching their death bed, unfortunately.

Wow I had no idea this would get such a bad response. What I meant is that Chomsky and Zinn have already struggled through their generation, and I think they deserve at least a break, so they can live out the rest of their lives with their family. I mean that we need to find people such as Chomsky and Zinn in our time to be representatives of our generation. We need a charismatic, intelligent non-leader to give us insight as Chomsky and others have done for their generation.

Chomsky is insightful, but somewhat pessimistic. He is a needed corrective to the biased reading of our history that too many Americans reflxively embrace. He' a good theorist for the future, but seems to believe that humans can delay the awesome changes approaching. There is now way so adapt.
