@MultiGramma somebody else suggested that you just push on the back of the ipod to fix the dim screen... It worked for me. I dont plan on trying to take it apart to fix the problem, sorry man. Good Luck

I took the old one into the Apple store and they used (what a doctor would use to look into someone's ear) microscope to look into the 3.5 jack and found a red line (there's a little white strip if you look inside the jack) indicating that their was water damage.

is there anything you can do for the 2nd gen? i even changed the lcd screen (and in the process cracked the glass like an idiot :( and the backlight still doesn't work...

just tried this shit and it didnt even work.....i disconnected my lcd screen from my 2g ipod touch then recconnected it twice and it did not work....i personally just think that it just worked for you by luck.....

I don't know if you guys noticed this or not but he DIDN"T show us his ipod in the begging, he didn't show us it with its back light broken. What if it was never broken?

My iPod Touch (64GB) had water damage and I had to pay $200.00USD in order to receive a refurbished one, instead of a brand new one. I took the old one into the Apple store and they used (what a doctor would use to look into someone's ear) microscope to look into the 3.5 jack and found a red line (there's a little white strip if you look inside the jack) indicating that their was water damage.

ihad this problem, and attempted to take it apart as shown and shattered the lcd and glass..
and then out of the blue iput it on my ihome and hit play..
boom, backlight works fine, and continues to..
soo, backlight fixed.
lcd and glass touch screen..busted..
