Man that voice is starting to get on my nervers. Same guy, same damn voice in literally everything he is a part of. It has gotten to the point where I cant watch episodes because of it. How can you respect anything this guy does when he uses the exact same voice for every single character he reads for ?

I mean I love the shows this guy talks in on, but I mean come on, it just reminds me of something Billy West talked about, cant understand how untalented hacks keep getting voice over work.

@drasl I wouldn't group H. Jon Benjamin in with the group Billy West talked about. I think he adopts this voice because it matches the comedic tone of the works he is in. Coach Mcguirk's style of humor is rather similar to Archer's if you compare the things they say, though the characters are very different. Granted, he's no Billy West or Mark Hamill (Two of the great talents in voice acting with a lot of diversity in their voicing) but he sounds exactly how the character should sound.

@drasl I would also argue that some of the better voice actors weren't all that diverse. Look up the late great Tony Jay watch?v=BzSNrwNpw0g He used that one voice for just about everything I've seen him in, but he always played it well.

Well I was stretching the point a bit with Billy West, who I think was talking more about Brad Pitts and generally just famous people getting the best roles. ( Even though they have little to no expirience with voice acting )

Tony Jay was of course a great talent, but for me that is the difference between him and H.J.B. Im not going to call out HJB voice as poor either, but I just think it gets tired. Like if Billy were to use Frys voice for everything. It would get old !

@drasl Ahh I see what you mean. Yes, I've heard a bunch of film actors get hired on as voice actors, usually for animated movies or translations of Miyazaki films and do a terrible job. The reason I didn't thinkw e should lump HJB in was that his speaking voice is very different from his Archer/Coach Mcguirk voice. I've seen some interviews of his and I wouldn't have picked up that it was him.
