  • how to achieve this sound ?

  • i dont get it, so can everyone else here them cymbals?

  • @woodyify1 nah they have some padding shiz underneath so they make a little shit tap sound like (the rest of the kit) but through the headphones/speakers it sounds like a real cymbal

  • this kit would be better if the hi hat wasnt just like a small crash, it should have 2 cybals put together like a real hi hat :D

  • I got an Alesis DM5 brain with the Pintech kit I got from GuitarCenter today. I gotta say, I really thought it would last longer than two seconds before smoke started coming out. Not even kidding.

  • dose it come with a base peadle ?

  • @coomer111 no :(

  • 541 sounds.

  • Im thinking to buy some of alesis but i dunno which one s better... Alesis DM5 Pro or Alesis DM6

DM5 looks better, but s older?

    Thanks

  • I used to love my DM5 until it broke from playing it so damn much XD Can you use those cymbals as like real cymbals for an acoustic drum kit or are they only designed for triggers?

  • SysEx Librarian won't work with dm5. Help

  • damn now I'm wondering. V-Drums are way too expensive, any other known sets around this price level?

  • V drums are expensive for begginers, and they suck until you get into the higher price ranges, i wouldnt go for pearl for a low level set, i'd look at either a low/mid level mapex, or sonor, anything in the low ranges will suck and you'll want to upgrade it too fast for it to be a good investment.

  • yes. This might be my new set right here. I'm liking it. Does anyone know if one can program their own sounds into this brain?

  • Yes using SysEx Librarian but I don't know how to use it.

  • @RikJamezBich you cant, dont get a low level electric set, they all suck, massively.

  • I'm kind of feeling v-drums. I don't live where I can be an animal and also I'm pretty sick of not being able to tune my toms, even though my set is nice. Also cymbals are too loud for practice.

  • So is this kick trigger large enough to fit a double kick??

  • @xBMXer22x Yes

  • @xBMXer22x the dm6 can so i would imagine

  • this guy actually made this drum kit sound really good..

  • 1.can you choke the cymbals?

2.can you put a double bass pedal?

3.can you plug in an ipod?

    4.can you put extra cymbals?

5.can u use an amp for speakers for the drumset

    6.please reply

  • well question 1 and 4 are kida obvious...they are real symbals!

  • i think you can add double bass cos my friend has a double bass and i think it is the same kit:) hope i helped

  • 1. no (usb pro kit can, or buy cymbal pack 2)

2.yes (there is a video on youtube)

    3. nope (the module is pretty old:P)

    4. 3 more

    5. jep

I just bought this drumkit and its amazing!

  • 1. as Acorselisaboa said, they sell a kit with choke ability

    2. yes, the drum pedal is real hardware, buy whatever you'd like

    3. no, it sucks, I run my output through the mic input of my macbook, then I play a song through itunes then plug in my headphones into my macbook output,

    4. Yes 2 extra I believe (not sure)

    5. Yes, but it doesn't sound as good as heaphones

  • if i add more cymbals, do i need a stand or a rack, and how do i set it up? and can you change the volume of each individual pad?

  • You would have to buy an additional mounting clamp

Yes, you can change the volume on each cymbal or tom

  • can you also add more pads for extra toms? and if so how many can you add?

  • @gibson00000000000000 not for extra toms, but for other stuff.

  • hay can i use these cymbals on my DD506 ? (legacy) becasuse on there website it says Surge alesis cymbals for electronic kits does that mean there a replacement for the cybals on most peoples kits coz you can by them alone thats what makes me thing u can put them on most kits

  • Can you add more cymbals?

  • 3 more

  • this kit sounds great!

  • can you choke the cymbals?

  • from what everyones been telling me, no

  • u can on the usb pro but not the dm5 pro

  • yeah

  • no...

It's a real bummer... I always go to choke my crash... and it surprises me each time It doesn't choke after I grab haha

  • They sell two different surge cymbals. One with and one without choke ability.

  • I'm havin a prob with mine. When I hit the smaller crash and the kick pad at the same time ,.. the cymbal sound gets cancelled out and does not sound. Works well when I hit it alone.

    Any thoughts ?

    Thanks

    Dave

  • yeah i have that problem with mine you have to go into external trigger and turn up the gain

  • I noticed this too

I couldn't tell what made the crash stop ringing, but your comment made sense to me now

  • for any1 wanting 1 the dm5 original pro kit is still fun but the surge cymbals are just alot more fun and about 300$ more

  • whaaa, he has white pads? Mine are black ... This drum kit is ace if you're looking for a quiet kit you can play on, i recommend it having had this for a good year and a 3 months i think ;)

  • can u plaug it in to a guitar amp does it have built in spaekers if u dont want it to be real loud but show ur friend something without blowing out his ear drums

  • can u add roland cymbals

  • Can you simulate and open and closed high hat

  • yes

  • yes

  • can you plug your ipod or cd player into it and the music will play through the headphones?

  • I wonder if those cymbals are as silence as my roland's cymbals. These cymbals are pretty expensive. Can anybody tell me?

  • The Cymbals have a loud knocking sound but wont wake anyone up in another house. Maybe if the person is in the same room or another room next door.

  • is their aux in on this module

  • can u add more cymbals after buying just a kit with a ride a hi-hat and a crash?

  • Yes you can add more symbals and drum pads. You can tell each pad what to do so u could tell the snare pad to be a symbol.

  • do all of the drums have rims?

  • Only the snare has Rim shots on the basic kit.

But you can buy more rim shot trigger pads.

  • are the cymbals made of metal??

  • yea they r brass, they just dont make any sound

  • ae the fradgile?

    do they break easy?

  • ciekawe czy to jest ciche

  • the connector

  • I have that kit too, I bought it yesterday but I have no idea where to plug in the headphone please tell me fast

  • you must already know, but it's right in the front of the brain

  • at 1:22 pause it and were it says phones is were you put them in. ( that was to deom2222)

  • read the manual.

  • how much?

  • Why didn't you read the whole sentence?

  • He says he's the product specialist, but @ 1:20 he calls it the "D5" sound module, not the DM5,..ummmm? I like the DM5 module and it sounds great with my DIY kit. Check out my video. Even better dynamics than the "stock" pads or rolands.

  • i heard alesis were bad, i dont know why. but its something about the things inside can easily break.

  • I said quiet, not silent. How could they be silent? I would of said silent if it were silent. Put it this way. If someone is sleeping in the other room and you play this kit and the cymbals, they won't wake up... Its quiet... The surge cymbals have no metallic cymbal sound when struck without a speaker or headphones. THE ONE THING THAT SUCKS IS THAT THE DM5PRO KIT DOESN'T COME WITH CHOKABLE CYMABALS. THE DM5 PRO USB KIT DOES. I AM BUYING THE CHOKE CYMBALS AND SELLING THE NON CHOKES.

  • surge cymbals are quiet when not turned on. You play thru headphones and can play quietly. Surge cymbals are coated with a material thats clear and dampens the sound making them quiet. I bought this kit cuz I live in an apartment and need to be quiet. This kit rocks... I got a great deal on ebay ...

  • how quiet? like silent??

  • Take a stick and hit a car seat (ideally the fake leather kind). That's about the sound you hear if not wearing the headphones :)

  • wow! very decieving looks

  • do surge symbols actually make a loud noise when the kit isn't turned on, like real symbols, because the reason i'm buying an electric kit is because i need to be quiet, and it would be bad if i couldn't use symbols when i was tryin 2 use symbols. please reply

  • Does anyone know if you can add additional cymbals to make a splash or another crash?

  • im sure you can i read that this kit has 12 inputs so i suppose you can but if it doesnt then you can program to make the splash.

  • Hey, does anyone know what parameters and setting you can use to get pretty much a perfect dual-zone ride effect(you know with the bell and face of the cymbals without them interfering with each other) ? I've tried loads and can't find alot of info on the web =[ Thanks =] (I have the DMpro kit shown above)

  • is possible connect this kit to PC by MIDI?

is some software for this kit?

  • "I need something that feels good on my hands" ;) lol.

  • i have this kit and the pads are not durable at all..they break so easily

  • anyone know what snare voice hes using in this vid?

  • I believe Snare voice #1 or DeepRoom. Somewhere close

  • can you buy the normal dm5 pro and up grade your old cymbals for the surge ones?

  • yes but you wont be able to shoke, so don buy the chokable ones.

  • getting this set over the summer

  • i'd rather have the reg rubber ones

  • does anybody have this kit,..in this vid it sounds real nice, is it in reality that good too? ah and is it loud without sound?

  • i've got this kit, but without the surge cymbals, and it still sounds good. Well worth the money. In my house it's quite loud but not loud enough for the neighbours to hear. Although I've read other reviews and it's usually very quiet, i guess it's just my house!

  • cool, thanks,..i'll buy it without surge cymbals too for 399 €.. :D

  • wat r surge cymbals

  • the cymbals he's using in the video, instead of the rubber pad ones

  • more silent ?

  • no, the same amount of noise, just different

  • anoyne know a good hi-hat trigger that works on the dm5 pro?

  • I think i heard that the reg one is either open or closed, no middle...

Anyway that you can change it?

    :)

  • i'd rather have the reg rubber ones

  • actually nvm i'd rather have the surge cymbals

  • Check RHYTHMTANDEM.

  • That's pretty biased seeing that you're pretty much the spokes person for RET

  • w00t just bought this one

  • um with the alesis dm5 pro kit that doesnt come with the surge cymbals, can you choke the cymbals.

  • i will kill them cymbals they dont look very sturdy

  • so if they are real drum heads are theyload

  • "I need to have something that feels good on my hands and my wrists"

    HAHAHAHAHHAHAAHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

  • i dont kno much about electric sets. but with the original dm5 can u add more cymbals

  • how many symbals can you plug into the dm5 brain?

  • how much does it cost?

  • $800

  • whats the different beween this one and the usb pro?

  • I want to learn drums and my mom wants me to get an electric set because of the whole noise factor so I'm looking at this one and if i can't afford it i will try to get the Alesis DM5 pro. can anyone help me with deciding on a good inexpensive electronic kit?

  • You're looking at it! - probably the best value, best feel, best sounding electronic kit for the money-the DM5 Pro. Realistic drum feel(IMHO)except cymbals..maybe upgrade to surge at a later date?.I'm impressed anyway...

  • if you want the sounds to come from the module, go with this.. but if you are using a soft synth like Superior drummer 2 , or bfd 2. go with the Alesis USB drum pro, not the dm5

  • Or is you're a big boy, I'd consider upgrading altogether to an RET Percussion kit... for sure.

Best feel, best quality, but definitely a Professional kit. This dm5 kit is good for beginners, for sure.

Check the vids on my page for more info!

    -mikey

  • Can i buy a double bass pedal with the dm 5 kit and sound good? also using the snare kick as well?

  • Can someone post a Demo without the drum sounds. So we can here how quiet they are? Is it hollow heads or is is just a drum head on a rubber pad? I live in an apt.

  • i have this kit and live in an apartment too, it is kinda loud, cant really play it at night. great kit though apart from the hi hat.

  • sounds very good and a good look

  • im seriously considering getting one for my 12 yr o son who is really interested to learn drums. we agreed to get an electronic set.

    what would you recommend?

  • well im twelve and looking for a drum kit. i think that this one is quite good for the price beacuse it looks and sounds good without paying loads of money. so yeh i think this is and ok kit!

  • I wasnt iimpressed with the tom/snare heads, they offer very little bounceback and dont replicate real heads much at all. Anyone else agree? Or am i just bad at drums? :\

  • how loud are the surge Cymbals in compare to normal Cymbals do there ring out the same or are they sightly muted ?

  • muted mainly, they have a dampening layer, iv tried them and am impressed

they are louder than standard alesis cymbals tho, as you can expect seeing as standard ones are plastic and rubber

  • When is this kit coming out? I can't find a firm release date anywhere...

  • its been out. go to guitar center, they hav them there!

  • check out bangers68 if you want to see one of these in a live enviroment.

these kits are fucking great for the money.

  • how much is this Kit ?

  • I think it's gonna go for around $800.

The USB version is around $700.

  • this has to be the best elec kit for my budget i can't wait to my b'day yaay

  • I am thinking of getting one of these beacause acoustic ones make too much noise...If somone is playing it with headphones in can you hear a tapping noise?

  • I am thinking of getting one of these beacause acoustic ones make too much noise...If somone is playing it with headphones in can you hear a tapping noise?

  • yeh you can, the loudest noise is the sound of the bass drum through the flroor

  • I own a dm5 pro kit and the snare is dual trigger meaning that the rim is a trigger too.

the heads are just like a acousitic set (plastic) and they play well.

No there is no choke feature on the rubber cymbals, the dm5 module does have a choke path but im not sure how it works.

  • The normal dm5 pro's snare is single triggered and this set is dual triggered is that right? Then it make this set worth more to buy.

  • i read that the snare drum is dual triggered is that right?

  • Alesis homepage says that the snare and the ride cymbal are dual triggered

  • Is there choke holds on the kit too.. i was about to get them but i am going find reviews on them
