  • I got the Blue Highlander set today as a direct result from your videos. It has been 45 years since my last train set so consider yourself totaly to blame for my re-kindled passion. Many thanks :)

  • @darnmg haha I apologise in advance to your bank manager lol

  • can i hav any trains, wagons or track yu don't need plz i need a proper start to model railroading and btw great vid will

  • i think you mean the somerset belle

  • There is one called Blue Highlander aswell. That's the train set I started my layout with!!!

  • hi sorry im lee, im completely new to modeling but i couldnt help noticing that you were offering your track out for free, not that i would mind paying for it, but if you have anything at all you dont need i would be grateful and make good use of it. thank you

  • @ludlowish I currently don't have any spare but if I do I'll be sure to make a video about it.

  • Which starter set is the best

  • can i have some curves

  • I have this set it's really good to own

  • I've got that set, the loco is a smooth runner when its on "deasent" track but runs a bit jerkey on my layout. Nice review :D

  • i got that for the 2009 christmas and now the motor is broke. do you know where u get a new motor from?

  • @rickindinglebutt1000 - contact your local model shop, they will be able to help you.

  • @InterCity82 thanks mate

  • put some weight on the low loader, that normally makes it go around corners

  • Have you noticed that the brown 'XP' wagons as you call them have NEM coupling pockets? Either all of them do or mine accidentally came out of the 'premium' mould in the factory! I find that them having NEM couplings is really handy, as they're nice wagons!

  • @benjirowlands - I hadn't noticed! But then I did make this video a long time ago. I shall be sure to look next time I handle one. Thanks!

  • @InterCity82 These little pugs annoy me. I know they're cheap but they are missing a handrail down the side of the engine and a vertical handrail from platform to roofline on the cab.

  • @intercity82 can you get in contact please i would like to discuss some things :)

  • @masterging96 - if you need to get in touch you can contact me via my YouTube channel - thanks!

  • slow down i love it to much ?

    `!!!!!

  • @scotty21h same! I got it for £40 as well! Did u get it in Woolworths by any chance? That's where I got mine

  • Now, I spent the night in Midland, Texas, and I NEVER saw a train like this out there! :D (Just kidding - this is REALLY a Nice Set!)

  • Have you seen the new Hornby 'Ladbroke Grove rail crash' special anniversary edition ?

  • Comment removed

  • @RoseWeid1 - not yet :)

  • do you fill in the guarantee stuff?

  • @steeeeevve - no. Not needed really.

  • Try putting some different loads on the lowmac that are a little bit more waighty that should solve the problem.

  • Got that set i only paid £40, great value for money.

  • you said you dont keep trackmats but next time you get a trainset can you get intouch before you get rid of it

  • can i have som of your spare track and maybe an old loco if theres one you don'y use??

  • @shwanrasoul - this video is a year old and right now there is no surpless track but when there is I'll do a video on it.

  • Also if you can could I have some spare locos or coaches if you can. Love your videos they are amazing

  • Hi I have watched all of your vids and have started a collection my self but I need some track so would I be able to have sone track like you said in the video any type will do thank you. Ps you are amazing

  • @999fireguy999 - currently there's no spare track or locos or coaches as I'm working on both layouts at the same time but at a certain stage I may have some surpless parts going and if so I'll be sure to do a video on it. This video is a year old.

  • @intercity82 thanks you have inspired me to get into dcc

  • @intercity82 what im saying îs that can you run dcc locos but then umplug the dcc controller And then plug in a dc controller and run dc locos?

  • @RCProductionable - yes that's what I do.

  • @intercity82 Can you run dc locos using a DCC controller. Or can you just hook up the line with a DCC controller and a dc one and just choose which you want it to be? Also can you have one DCC controller but use it to power two separate lines? Thanks PLEASE can You reply as I am thinking about getting a hornby select.

  • @RCProductionable - I do not recommend you mix the two. They are very different systems and work in very different ways. DC controllers for DC trains and DCC controllers for DCC trains - simple. A single DCC controller can easily power about 100m of track - depending on how many locos there are on it to draw power from it.

  • your vid got me back in to the trains angane thank cos i really missed them

  • @legocoletor87 - hehe, I'm glad you got into them again! :)

  • @InterCity82 hope you do more videos osw i love seeing them

  • Hey can I have some spare locos and some spare coaches and some spare track if you have any lolol. I live in Canada and wouldn't mind if you could deliver them personally lol. Oh yeah if you could fit DCC ...that would be a nice touch too!

    Smiles from Peter

  • @clusterfak - hi! yep, no problem, I'll bring it all over on a ship and be your personal slave for a week too LOL

  • That's very professional thank you

  • Hi I'm starting out I would really appreciate some track it would help me alot. I'm doing my layout in my sunroom aswell. Lol

Let me know if you can give me some.

    Thanks william

P.S I subscribed and I enjoy your reviews

  • @williwaler6 - I don't have any surpless track at the moment but I've made a note of your username for when I do. :)

  • i think i found out how to stop the lowmackes from derailing just run the train in then you add them and it should be sorted but mine derails going backwards and going into its siding.

  • hi please would you be able to gift me some track if possible next time you ever find some spare i live in Preston if this is possible.

    lkj802

  • @lkj802 - when I next have spare track I will do a video on it

  • Hiya please may i use some unused track if posible thank you because i got the flying scotsman train set for christmas and i have some track for the outer but none for the inner track thank you but i live all the way in manchester

  • @07marmi - I don't have any spare track at the moment but when I do I will do a video on it

  • can i have unused loco or track i you have please i live in brighton

  • I ment I could paypal you the shipping cost because It would be like 25 quid

  • yes ive got a simulor train then that

  • ive started to get hornby and vi trains ive only got 2 hornby sets and no vi trains

  • i want some free track but i live in Starbeck in Harrogate and i need lots of it

  • There is another exactly the same called Smokey Joe

  • it is also exacly the same as the industrial set from 3 years ago

  • looks a very nice set,

hornby these days is much more in tune with the young modeller and the older one

  • I want some of that track, but I live in western Canada about 5000 miles away but I could paypal you the money I will need lots of it

  • @Bachmannmodeler - whenever spare track becomes available I do a video on it, and it's free :)

  • the Night Mail one has the same loco :L

  • @DelticFilms - I think the nightmail set comes with a class 3F Jinty

  • @InterCity82 your probably right, but it looks almost similar lol

  • i'm getting the loco from ebay:)

  • my lowmac kept derailing round corner and on points, i dont use it now i just sit it in a siding for decoration

  • @Hartsock91 - that's not a bad idea for it actually lol

  • @Hartsock91 to stop it derailing i added some weight to the cargo, so now it runs perfectly!!

  • Could you plz show all the youtubers what the set looks like fully set up, thankyou!

  • @TSJagger - a good idea! I will think about it

  • @InterCity82 i wish i could set up my own home train layout but i dont have the money or the space because im a uni student. Maybe after i get my law degree. great video

  • can u mount a model railway to the wall....i mean...have a board on the wall which moves flat....with the track on it and u just add the trains...i think its stupid...but its the only im allowered to make a big 1...i think the track will fall off the board...

  • @littleboy129 - you mean a shelf layout? Loads of people make shelf layouts every day - it's a great way to have a layout in little space

  • @littleboy129 i used to have mine like that all my track was on the board and when i wanted to use it i just unlocked it from the wall and lowered it with legs very handy if you dont have much space

  • shit shit shit lol if ida seen this video erlier when you still had free tracks i would have asked lol thx and nice video thx btw me saying shit as not at the vid its at the fact i dint see this vid erlier thx ,lol

  • @pyronathanpyro - lol, if I have spare track again in the future I will be sure to do a video on it.

  • you have all the sets

  • @freddiedines1 - not all of them

  • hi i am also a lover of hornby i have watched your videos and i just wanted to say which is your most favourite loco? and i will definatley be subscribing thanks :-)

  • @gavinleigh2010 - thanks for the comment! My fav loco is my class 58 - featured in an upcoming video :)

  • this is one of many sets that i dont like

  • @SuperTheKing1999 - without these sets, there would be very few new people entering the hobby, whch would drive up the prices for all the smarter models, and shrink the size of the market meaning hardly any special editions like the Blue Pullman, etc. It's fine to not like them, but there's no denying the importance they play in bringing in new people to the hobby, and meaning we can all have more, better, less expensive models.

  • how much do spend on train sets. hornby are not cheap

  • @peenut6601 - it helps if you can get good deals. But I don't get the sets very often

  • will you b giving away more free track in the foreseable future

  • @cybermandestany - hmmm possibly

  • you rock

  • do you have ngauge

  • @james2964 - no, only OO

  • could you do a review on the deven flyer please :)

  • @charbrookie - I would if Ihad it! :)

  • the western sprit

  • this is a exact copy of the city industrial except the loco is midland rail

  • @tpe18509 - yup!

  • why buy all those transets,?

ok one or two is alright, but your an experienced modeller, not a beginner

leave the little sets for the children to play with and stop the hornby prices going up for little children - or else hornby will become another sport for old people

  • @Galacticmaster - I happen to get a lot of requests for the 'starter sets' such as these and so I bought a couple of them to take a look at. As for the other sets such as 'The Royal Scot' and 'The Western Pullman', those sets are not aimed at children, not with price tags of £120 to £200 and more. Plus they're very often the only way to get hold of a particular loco - and Hornby know this.

  • chuffed to bits about my purchase:P

I am awaiting delivery of The Virgin Pendelino train set too and and a couple of accessories, i.e. more track.

I need to get in touch with my brother and ask him to set my father's train set up and play with it :)

I think this is a brilliant hobby and I would recommend it to anyone that has similar interests.

If you have anything spare that you would like to give away, I would be most grateful, if you can get in touch !

    Regards mate :D

  • @MagnusPaul1976 - ahh, my review of the Virgin Pendolino is being encoded right now and should be uploaded by the time you read this. I've no doubt you will love it. :)

  • can you do royal scot please\

  • @danielpclark1 - The Royal Scot is due to be uploaded yes

  • the track mack trouble by be because there wheel are to small or it with need bogers wheels

  • i love wtching you show the train sets could you send me a email about the free curved track please freddo.boii@live.co.uk thanks so much

  • @freddokiid - I'm afraid there isn't any free track left now. I'm sure the video has been annotated stating this - but rest assured, I will mention it in any upcoming video if I ever have any again.

  • i have one thats called the rover

  • @somerandomalex - ah yes I know the one you mean.

  • how much worth of trains and track u got worth i only got 75 quid im just starting and hopefully tommorrow ill have a goods master

  • @miniadult12 - oh I'm not sure what the total value is but it's definitely in the £thousands - the Goods Master set is what started it all off! :)

  • How many 0-4-0 Pugs do you have now?!

  • @TrailBlazer65 - 6x I think

  • (.(.(. intercity82.).).) :: awsome!!!! thanks. the royal scot is one of my best train sets so far !!. ((( yes i got it like 2 weeks ago at a model shop in crowdon witch i LOVE!!!!!!! it has everything i got loads and loads of stuff from there not long ago. oh yea errm ive got a 9ft by 4ft hornby design to go in my bedroom so if i do a vid on it will you be able to give me some advise on it cos that would be GREAT !!!!!! thanks.((trainlover1997)).

  • @trainlover1997 - yes that would be great!

  • thank you ive got extention pack b then im just gunna work on from there plus ive got that hornby vertual railway 2 so hopfully that will help OH imalso saving as hard as possable to get the royal scot because its only 129.99 in the shops so thats a big boost for me so yea thanks for that .

  • @trainlover1997 - you're welcome! Keep an eye out for any spare track I have - I sometimes announce it in new videos :)

  • hi im new to hornby well i had one when i was a kid ( the hogwarts express) and not long ago i went to the royal alexandra palace for a hornby expo and got this set.iwas just wondering if you woul be able to give me some avise on what to do, what to get that sort of thing.thank you ..trainlover12112.. ps(your right the low mack i a lot of work around corners

  • @trainlover1997 - oh wow! The Hogwarts express hey?! It would be great to see a video of that! Well a great thing to do next would be to get some of the expansion sets, and to build up the amount of track you have that way. Then you could either get another train set you like the look of, to give you another train or two, plus some more track to make an even bigger layout! After than, maybe just get a loco and some coaches or wagons on their own? Are there any you like?

  • i think its to get more ppl into hornby

  • @xGAMERKIDX - yeah, loads of people start of with a simple set like this - and then it grows and grows and grows! :)

  • I think I know why the Lowmac keeps derailing. I think it's because the wheels don't turn. I have a truck that always derailed, and so i bought a modern version of it, and it had turning wheels, and IT stayed on the tracks. I think Hornby need to put turning wheels on the Lowmacs!!

  • @hunfitz - yeah, you might be onto something there - I'll investigate when I get the chance.

  • i got this for 2008 christmas lol, 5*

  • @Keegz2k7 - hehe - yeah, it's a fun set - a great starter kit :) esp if you get it at a good price.

  • i think i got it for £25 :P

  • @Keegz2k7 - definitely a bargain!

  • OMG that is..wow

  • @ronop1 - it's good fun! a great starter set - plenty of track and a controller AND some accessories you can 'weather' and make look more realisitc.

  • ive had a few problems like you said with the flat bed wagon derailing round corners and i was wondering if you could find a way to stop it derailing and i was also asking if you could give us some track as im short on track

  • @goldentiger42 - I've given away all the spare track I have for the time being! But the minute some more becomes available I will do a video about it - so be sure to subscribe! As for the LOWMAC... I have done some tests on it and made a video or two. I will upload them asap. It's very temperemental :)

  • hey mate i have brought a dcc railway set the other day from ian allen the set i got was thee mixed freight one which is now at £135 and i had two locos with it and the other stuff you get and my locos said dcc fitted underneath them but i am not too sure what sound they give for example horns etc because i put it on my layout and didnt quite hear anything do you know what that might be mail back cheers superroadrunner10

  • Ah yes, the 'Mixed Freight' DCC set from Hornby? I have that set myself :) They are DCC fitted locos but they're not DCC Sound fitted.

DCC Sound is something extra, that some locos on their own come with, or you can have fitted to any loco you have if you take it to a specialist or send it off to one.

  • what u do with the controller do u use em oh and u know power clips do u have to have a controller connected to em?

plz reply my layout is under con

  • I'm currently using several DC controllers and one DCC controller. I can run at least 3 DC trains and as many as I have DCC trains with this set-up. You can connect the controllers to the track either via a dedicated piece of 'power track' which has 2 little holes for the wires, or you can use a 'power clip' which slides underneath the rails at certain points.

  • Hello, what's the difference between this set and the Blue Highlander?

  • hardly anything ~:-)

  • can i have some curves and plas the power track works whith live steem aswell

  • hey i have just perchased my first ever train set dcc ofcourse. do you have any curves going still message me? oh i bought a dcc fitted flying scotsman 2

  • yeah, DCC is deffo the way to go. my layout is 50/50 at the mo but will be 100% DCC one day. I think I still have some spare curves. I'll check after packaging up the ones I've got to send out.

  • Can i please have soe curvs i have so few!

  • heh - yes of course! I have several batches waiting to go to the post office this week actually - one guy has been waiting since xmas! Just send me a private message for more details. :)

  • The low make wont go over a standard hornby uncoupler either. Nice video by the way.

  • cheers - yeah - them lowmacs are a pain in the !@£%

  • the lowmac cant go round 1st radius curves due to the seperation length between the wheels but if you pull them very slowly (shunter speed) over points they dont derail.

  • You do need to put some weight on it, I have some EWS HAAs and they com off easly

  • Hello,Can I ask if I could have some curves Because at the momment lOI need some because I've only got straigts and there isn't a Hornby shop for miles!

  • hehe - just private message me if you'd like some free curves :)

  • r you going for the basic oval?

do you have 1 small straight, and the power straight?

if so, youll need 8 3rd radius curves. :P

  • NO I'm building a toatlly diffrent set but I've run out of curves for it so I need more

  • wow. The locomotive looks very nice and detailed. i want me a Hornby set.

  • it is only a starter set - but a very nice one :)

  • Hi

I have to ask you because you've got a lot of sets but where do you get all the money!!??

  • lol - there really aren't that many. It perhaps just looks like that. And it really helps to shop around from store to store and site to site to get good deals on them :)

  • lmao, I wouldn't mind them curves. ;) need a few to add to my layout.

the items in that set are meerly IDENTICAL to

whats in the city industrial... they should make it possible for you to get a custom train, for a reasonable amount?!

  • lol, yeah honestly, you can have some curves if ya want - just message me your details! :) I swear there are now that many they're breeding and taking over!

They do it on purpose don't they? To make people buy the sets, just for one loco or one wagon or something. GRRRRRRR!

  • I broke my lowmac by accident. :L it derailed, once again, went off the track and got crushed by my fat mom. LOL!

the wheels popped out, so i need to try and refit them. :L

  • Oh, I forgot, I've noticed a new layout of trakpacks. a larger one. :/ I was browsing earlier for accessories packs with my dad,

much much larger, different to the red trakpacks, A-F. might go DCC, and get chips soldered onto my 0-4-0's (DOESN'T SOUND FUN !!!)

  • have just fitted a DCC chip to an 0-4-0 actually! Was not easy - very small inside! Might not bother with the others for a while :)

  • LOL

  • Sorted the lowmac thank fuck. :L

anyway, about the track, wanna sort it on mail's?

    :P

  • just private messaged you

  • one more great vid by intercity 82

  • lol - cheers fella - need to catch up on yours now! Christmas and new year have been manic!
