Marty Robbins also was a NASCAR driver, until heart problems forced him to retire. He went back to music. Lucky for us!

Actually Marty ran his last race in Atlanta on Nov 7, 1982 just a month before he died. He had been having heart problems for a long time. His first major heart attack was in 1969. In1970 he was one of the first people to get the experimental triple bypass surgery which added many years to his life.Then on December 2, 1982 when he returned home from his concert he suffered a massive heart attack and underwent quadruple bypass surgery. On Dec.8 1982 we lost him due to kidney and liver failure. :(
