Auburn and Alabama are both top notch institutions for engineering, architecture, science, mathematics, and architecture. The only reason that Alabama does not have a veterinary school is because Auburn is the Land-Grant institution in the state of Alabama. Simple as that.
UA (Tuscaloosa) has no college of architecture. The best college of science in the UA system is in Birmingham and the best engineering school is at Huntsville. Tuscaloosa is a long way behind both of these schools in science and engineering. The two are virtually equal in business and the other humanities. UA (Tuscaloosa) has a pretty good law school, though.

Try to get through engineering school there. It isn't for the faint of heart. This is coming from a Vandy professor with degrees from Auburn in civil engineering, UC Berkeley (top rated CE program) and Vanderbilt. I'll also assure you that no program at UA matches Auburn's engineering programs in terms of intensity and difficulty. Not even the engineering or Law school at UAT. The Birmingham and Huntsville campuses are where the really hard programs are in the UA system.

I cheer for Auburn, any SEC team other than Bama, and whoever is playing Bama unless a Bama win helps Auburn. I have no apologies. You can't even keep the record straight. The true home and home started in 1992, because Legion was our home field in the Iron Bowl until 2000. The record is 10-8.

Say what you want about us. We have never been the media darling. We have the 1957, 1958, 1993, and 2004 unbeaten teams. We have a more legitimate claim to the 1983 title than you have to half of the titles you claim. We have beaten you more times than any other school in the SEC and we did it in an environment that was as neutral as the beaches at Normandy were in World War II. We all remember how strongly you supported us in 2004, by the way.

For so many years you almost never found Auburn merchandise in Alabama- only Alabama merchandise. Alabama was essentially the state's pro football team. Auburn was not. Though Auburn has every right to claim flagship university status, its athletic programs never got the same level of following or attention. Those of us who are alumni remember the taunts of the uneducated hillbillies who have never set foot in the place. That is why Auburn people will never want athletic success for Alabama.
Auburn people are not bitter people. Auburn people are proud people. They are proud of the education they received at Auburn. They are proud of the school's accomplishments, but they are not overly arrogant. And yes, they have respect for UA and its alumni. But if you really knew the history of the AU-UA series, you would understand why we will never wish your programs well. And you will understand why those of us who are alumni will never take shit from some mullet who never went to UA.

Sorry buddy, you are the arrogant one. Your school has its share of classy fans and people who went to school there. I'll be the first to admit that. But at the same time, every Auburn fan who knows what it was like to have the University of Alabama make us play our "home" games in the series at one of your home stadiums remembers the parking attendants in crimson who made all kinds of nasty remarks and the statue of Bear Bryant outside the stadium.
We played everyone else in the SEC home and home, including Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee. Yet Alabama had the arrogance to think that they had the right to run Auburn's affairs. Though we played our first home game of the series 20 years ago, everyone who remembers the earlier days of the series remembers what a momentous struggle it was to make it happen in 1989.
And we still had to play our 1991 home game at Legion Field. Only in 1993 did we have a truly home and home series. Only in 1993 did we truly stop being treated like second class citizens despite the fact that the state's premier programs in engineering, architecture, science and math, agriculture, pharmacy, and vet med reside at the school and we have major schools of nursing, engineering, business, and a student body the size of UA.
Alabama has two flagship universities. Auburn is one of them. Alabama was the last school in the Southeast to recognize that fact. Those of us who have been treated like second class citizens in the state and endured the crass commentary of Bama fans who never went to college will never forget. We will respect the University of Alabama for the good things it does for the state, but we have every right to have no good will whatsoever for their athletic programs.
And if you think that makes us arrogant, well, I beg to differ. Auburn people will never cheer for Alabama. I doubt many Alabama people will ever cheer for Auburn. Of course we remember how much the fact we were an undefeated SEC team mattered to UA in 2004. We remember how much Bama fans wanted us in the NC game.

Try to get through engineering school there. It isn't for the faint of heart. This is coming from a Vandy professor with degrees from Auburn in civil engineering, UC Berkeley (top rated CE program) and Vanderbilt. I'll also assure you that no program at UA matches Auburn's engineering programs in terms of intensity and difficulty. Not even the engineering or Law school at UAT. The Birmingham and Huntsville campuses are where the really hard programs are in the UA system.

I cheer for Auburn, any SEC team other than Bama, and whoever is playing Bama unless a Bama win helps Auburn. I have no apologies. The Bama fan base has an overall unrivaled lack of education and an overall unmatched sense of arrogance when their team wins. I can never find it in my heart to cheer for UA.
That Bama won makes me sad, but the era of Saban's dominance is rapidly coming to a close and will most certainly end next year in Bryant Denney.

Yeah, we heard the stuff from you from 2002 to 2007. Chizik has closed the gap and with the recruiting class coming in to Auburn, you will not have another blowout for a long time. Our D is getting restocked and you will have your hands full with Newton, Dyer, Reed, Adams, Zachery, McCalebb, Fannin and Burns. The tide has turned when Saban came into town and it is turning again.

Easy to hold the series lead when every single game until 1989 was held at YOUR home stadium.
Legion Field was YOUR home stadium. It had a statue of Bear Bryant outside of it! It was located right in the heart of your fan base. It was as neutral a site as the beaches at Normandy were. How well have you guys fared in Auburn? How well have we fared in Tuscaloosa?
Take the argument about the series lead and shove it.

It's a rivalry game and sometimes otherwise "championship" teams get upset.
The defense is gone. You'll be good next year, but I doubt you repeat. I believe Bama will lose to Auburn in the next three years at least once and probably twice.

So you say all we did was run trick plays. We only ran one in the whole game. A reverse isnt a trick play bc we run that every game. An onside kick is a normal play run by almost every team at some point. Maybe if they had been ready it wouldn't have worked. And i like how you copy war damn eagle with roll damn tide. Its a psychological thing. You want to be like us but don't want to admit it so you give off subtle hints like this. Its a classic jealousy case. I see it all the time.

You can't even keep the record straight. The true home and home started in 1992, because Legion was our home field in the Iron Bowl until 2000. The record is 10-8.
I was at the Iron Bowl in 1991, and the stands were 70% auburn, if that doesn't qualify as an advantage you are a fool.
And your amen corner has been aw shit corner for 2 years and won't change in 2010, or 2011. Eat it and like it!!!

We did not choose to play our home game at Legion Field in 1991. Legion Field is anything but neutral. We will never play a home game in Legion Field again.
Times are changing in Alabama. You lose your defense, and we're in far better shape than we were last year.

Say what you want about us. We have never been the media darling. We have the 1957, 1958, 1993, and 2004 unbeaten teams. We have a more legitimate claim to the 1983 title than you have to half of the titles you claim. We have beaten you more times than any other school in the SEC and we did it in an environment that was as neutral as the beaches at Normandy were in World War II. We all remember how strongly you supported us in 2004, by the way.

And if you want to say we have an arrogance about us, it isn't about the football, despite the fact that we are very proud of our football history that has included some truly great football teams- every bit as good as any that UA has produced.
We are proud to have come from a school that has produced six NASA astronauts and 500 NASA engineers. Many Fortune 500 companies have our alumni as CEOs. We have one of the top five schools of architecture in the US. Many alumni are university faculty.

For so many years you almost never found Auburn merchandise in Alabama- only Alabama merchandise. Alabama was essentially the state's pro football team. Auburn was not. Though Auburn has every right to claim flagship university status, its athletic programs never got the same level of following or attention. Those of us who are alumni remember the taunts of the uneducated hillbillies who have never set foot in the place. That is why Auburn people will never want athletic success for Alabama.

Auburn people are not bitter people. Auburn people are proud people. They are proud of the education they received at Auburn. They are proud of the school's accomplishments, but they are not overly arrogant. And yes, they have respect for UA and its alumni. But if you really knew the history of the AU-UA series, you would understand why we will never wish your programs well. And you will understand why those of us who are alumni will never take shit from some mullet who never went to UA.

Sorry buddy, you are the arrogant one. Your school has its share of classy fans and people who went to school there. I'll be the first to admit that. But at the same time, every Auburn fan who knows what it was like to have the University of Alabama make us play our "home" games in the series at one of your home stadiums remembers the parking attendants in crimson who made all kinds of nasty remarks and the statue of Bear Bryant outside the stadium.

We played everyone else in the SEC home and home, including Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee. Yet Alabama had the arrogance to think that they had the right to run Auburn's affairs. Though we played our first home game of the series 20 years ago, everyone who remembers the earlier days of the series remembers what a momentous struggle it was to make it happen in 1989.

Only in 1993 did we truly stop being treated like second class citizens despite the fact that the state's premier programs in engineering, architecture, science and math, agriculture, pharmacy, and vet med reside at the school and we have major schools of nursing, engineering, business, and a student body the size of UA.

Alabama has two flagship universities. Auburn is one of them. Alabama was the last school in the Southeast to recognize that fact. Those of us who have been treated like second class citizens in the state and endured the crass commentary of Bama fans who never went to college will never forget. We will respect the University of Alabama for the good things it does for the state, but we have every right to have no good will whatsoever for their athletic programs.

Since going to home and home, we've been the dominant team in the series. You guys have your years and we have ours, but we have been the dominant team from 1993 on.

And for that matter, if you look at the fifteen years between when the series went home and home in 1993 and Saban's arrival, we went 10-5. We are the superior program since that change in our series. Since that time we have had two undefeated seasons to your one and had far greater stability in our program with NO NCAA probation.
So enjoy 2009. It's the first really noteworthy year you've had in a long time. With your D gone next year, it could be the last you'll have for a while.

This is awesome footage for any Bama fan to enjoy, after all these years. As a Bama fan, who used to show up at games early enough to watch The Bear leaning against the goalpost watching his team warm up, I respect how Auburn always fights so hard against The Tide in this game (that they've won 6 years in a row going into '08.) Bama better be ready for a fight in the '08 game. Saban will have them ready....roll tide.....
