I heard this song on the Chrysler commercial and when I saw Jay Z listed as the artist I was like, no way. It has funk vibe that is not contemporary (yet it is) and it harkens back to the 60's-70's sound. Glad to see I was right! Thanks, Youtube.
@MrVIP1993 seems like Kanye West is the ONLY hip hop artist/producer you have ever heard of....theres more to hiphop than just what you 16 year olds hear in the charts.... listen to some old hip hop.... 'stealing' sounds from records started in the 70s.....
@ArtiztikAA ok 1. What does my statement have to do with kanye being supposedly the only producer I know?. 2. I'm not 16 i'm 18 actually going on 19 in march LOL (just thought you should know that) and yeah bro I know people sample stuff in hip hop I know all about that but when they sample its usually parts of songs, vocals or beats and add their own mix but this is basically a carbon copy. Kanye is also my fave artist so im not hating
@MrVIP1993 you SMH (shook my head) at the fact that your fav artist 'stole' this beat.It didnt seem like you were shining sun up his......Dig a little deeper into hiphop and you'll find it happens more often than not and you wouldnt appear surprised that even your fav artist 'steals' beats or samples... its hiphop.
@mrpuffypantsV I know what sampling is and all that of course but isn't sampling usually like taking only parts of songs, vocals or a small part of an instrumental and then add your own mix to make your own beat with that? Im just saying because this sounds exactly the same as the jay z version nothing different the whole beat was used not just a part of it thats why i said that and I like kanye BTW
@likasomeboodee1 and probably YOU wouldnt even know about 'old' songs if it weren't for 'every rapper' 'ruining' amazing songs...learn what hip hop is about then you'll understand.....
@likasomeboodee1 Knowledge about hiphop would come in handy while making statements like these. Hiphop-artists pay tribute to the music they love and grew up with by sampling this. Stick to commenting on Skrillex if you don't know shit.
I'm glad I watched that car commercial - it led me to Jay-Z's song which brought me to this, which I think is a heck of a lot groovier. So thanks, chrysler and jay-z
@SmokefaceBeats what you just said is the most profound thing ever. If it weren't for many of the renditions and tributes by today's artists many of the new generation wouldn't be able to hear what truly paved the way

@SmokefaceBeats Was that Chrysler commercial a Jay-z version? Because on the commercial the overcompression on those snares are terrible. I was thinking the commercial was a remastered version of Bobby made for the loudness war. If Kanye made the beat he needs to get back in the lab with Preemo and PR and learn how to mix instead of stealing Pete Rock drums.
@SmokefaceBeats very true... I love sampling when it is done correctly and in good taste. Sampling has allowed me to find new favorites by samples replayed in newer songs!!! I am always looking up origionals for songs with samples for that reason.
@SmokefaceBeats Very true and second of all I don't think people who are hating on Jay are actually listing to what he say... cause he's talking about them obviously.
i wasn't too happy bout the commercial but i still love the track. Nothing destroys authenticity like a commercial but then again nothing can destroy this track.
Sampling is not designed to bring new listeners to old music... Sampling is a method of making lousy music worth listening to. It's referred to as "beat jacking" and it's foul. Any loser can take a song that was #1 a few decades ago (when music was real, original, and good), and bring it back with some crappy lyrics. Everyone's bumping it and then the OGs on the block are shaking their heads like, "you wouldn't know real music if it bit you in the a**." That's why.
Those who have never heard Bobby Bland have missed out on one of the best, his voice is impossible to describe without lapsing into seeming contradictions. For example, it's both smooth as silk and rough as sandpaper. It must be heard. Equally impressive, Bland always seem to have a deeply intuitive understanding of the songs he sings. (In a sane world, everyone would know Bobby Bland and his work.) ~peace
i've been looking for a certain version of this song for quite a while... does anybody know a hip hop version of this song which has the same melody but a lot faster and there are about 3 or 4 rappers rappin....i just can't find that damn version...thx in advance

Whether or not you're a fan of hip-hop or not is irrelevant, you should still respect the art behind sampling.
@wageslave333 so you're saying I should feel shame that I liked a song that I heard on a commercial? There is no denying that it would be great if I had heard the song before I saw the commercial. However, I don't think it is a shame that a commercial introduced me to the song. I think its great really. I may never have been exposed to it otherwise.
the writer of this song was one helluva blues singer and musician - fucker could stay up 25 hours a day and mount 15 women where as each one would have 10 orgasms each - the fucker's name . . . Bill Brasky !
@SmokefaceBeats Sampling is for talentless losers who want to cash in on somebody else achievements from 30-40yrs ago! and people are tired of it. Nothing more than a new audience to cash in on. Why can't they come up with their ideas?.. because they cant. So they resort to ripping off the greats of the past, no one respects that.
@Napco205 Stupidest comment I've read on Youtube. If they were trying to 'cash in on a new audience' (this is why you're stupid by the way,) then Bobby Bland fans would all be listening to Jay and Kanye. Another reason you're an idiot is the fact that all of the music that rappers spit over is sampled from something. @Napco205 The only crews I can think of off the top of my head that don't sample music are The Roots and Justice System. I don't know anybody that's really into rap that's tired of sampling songs. Unless you want everything boxed by Dougie Fresh. Like in The Virgo. That would be beast.
@dudesgothair I don't know who Dougie Fresh is, this is coming from someone who despises anything rap/hip pop, I don't acknowledge any of it. But I know sampling is a huge thing for rap. Anything hip pop/rap is looked down upon and purely sucks, so yes people are sick of it and want it gone forever!
i've been looking for a certain version of this song for quite a while... does anybody know a hip hop version of this song which has the same melody but a lot faster and there are about 3 or 4 rappers rappin....i just can't find that damn version...thx in advance
