The gem in the middle is real, Mattel did the same thing with a Gem Magic Barbie back in the 80's. But the quality of the gem isn't as good as the ones you'd buy in a jewlery store and the size is too small to be worth any real money.

I have Nolee and I think they mixed up Barbie's diamond with Nolee's topaz! Because my ring was blue...I think I lost it at the movie theater the next year.

@rokonchicken I have nearly a Karat of diamonds on my left hand between my engagement ring and wedding band and the set together is about 1400$ Far from being a million. Mattel has done the same thing before with other BArbie dolls. Gem stones are priced by colour, cut and clarity so the stones in these rings are quite cheap.

@ThePurplePeaces barbie was one of the original characters of the my scene dolls she was laster replaced with Kennedy! becayse this was mattels attempt to compete with the bratz, in some countries they were more popular than the bratz! like in south america where they are still being sold today, sadly mattel hasnt released a my scene line outide of south america and europe for a few years now, some stores will sometimes get them but not alot!

@ZippyAcornAngel Mattel probably pulled theur usual stunt. Once they heard about Forever Diamondz, they rushed MBB (they were released only a few months before FD) to make it look like MGA copied them. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my scene(this is actually one of my favorite collections) and Bratz, but Mattel has done that quite a bit in the past :/

Oh, and good news! My Scene isn't discontinued :D They're huge in South America and well, pretty much every country except for America. It's a terrible shame they don't sell them here though, well except for Big Lots, Rite Aid and one 1 occasion, K-Mart :/ Oh and I agree, in the end they were both successful, so it doesn't really matter who copied :P

@alexbabs12345 yeah they are huge in south america....i am in Australia and we havnt had my scene in the main stored for over 3 years now...i work in a toy store and we got a whole heap of Rockin Awards my scene and Snow Bling dolls they all had KB toys stickers on them...they went broke didnt they??

i hope the new Monster high dolls are popular they loom pretty cool!!

and i wonder what the new Bratz will look like...MGA says they are brand new designs!!

Actually this is more of a sort of than an absolute yes. The My Scene Bling Bling girls were released well before Forever Diamondz; however, when it was announced the FD collection would include rings with "real jewels", Mattel reintroduced the Bling Bling dolls with rings with a real gemstone (well really chip) rather than the faux jeweled rings in the initial release. So the concept is by no means a rip-off but using the gem is a slight steal -- though a fair competitive move imo.
