There is no such thing as public speaking without fear.Its only the DEGREE of fear.This can vary from person to person,not everyone can cope with the fear.So if you feel it'll be too much for you just say you dont want to do it and the'll have to find someone else!

I liked what you say because you are right. We can't get better without understanding it. Fear is necessary because we need fear to prepare our bodies to fight or flight from danger (the unknown). Public speaking is not a real fear; however it is a perceived fear, particularly if you haven't done it before.
Anyway, you did well.

Actually fear is real to the individual if only perceived rather than actual. However, let me ask you this, how can you be aware of fear if it is not perceived?
