@70rm3n70r There is no such word per se. It could be a name which means little Matej or little Matthew. However -uska or ushka sounds more like a Check ending. One of my childhood friends was called Lidija. Her mother called her Lidushka. But her mother was originally from Chekoslovakia, from a Check family.
@SZ19891993 I don't know how many words are there in Croatian that start with an F, but we don't discriminate that letter :P. Bolesna braca songs are not the best place to learn Croatian :P. "Faki" is not a Croatian words, it's a Croatian adaptation of an English word (f*ck). It is slang, so... yeah.
@wepef3D yeah i expected it from bolesna, but they are funny as hell...about croatian adaptations...you got many of these...many english words adapted in croatian, that's kinda cool...
in the dictionary,i noticed that many f words are not croatian origin...for example fotografija fiziologia filzofia etc...thanks for answering and to tell me the meaning of faki, now i understand...thanks a lot dude!
Croatia is very fascinating country in many ways and Croatian pronouncing is similar to finnish as every letter always gets pronounced the same way no matter where they are :) We also have about the same population. Looking forward to visit Croatia one day.
@MrEgonn8427 Lupetaš i mešaš babe i žabe.
I'm from Poland and I understand croatian a bit. Croatian and Polisch belong to the same group of languages - slavic languages. There are a lot of similar or even the same words in these two languages. For example: dwa - dva (two) ryba - riba (fish) brat - brat (brother) głowa - glava (head) woda - voda (water) siostra - sestra (sister) sobota - subota (saturday) noga - noga (leg) ręka - ruka (arm) pies - pas (dog) wiara - vjera (faith) most - most (bridge) środa - srijeda (wednesday)
My boyfriend is from Zagreb Croatia.. and I stricktly speak just English.. so this is helping me a lot.. he trys teaching me things now and then too :)
Video is great! Thank you! I try to learn croatian.
Hallo :D
I remember this last summer. I told a whole bunch of tourists that the correct way of pronouncing the word Dubrovnik, is to take all the vowels away from it.
in the control panel in keyboard settings of your computer you can toggle other languages if you don't know how to do it in my videos i have a video for both mac and windows on how to change the keyboard language. hope this helps
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
croatian and serbian, bosnian, makedonian i know are the same language :) i have ben in all counties, and have talk to people theire with ma croatian language :) stop talking about it -.- all was yugoslavia before, same land? :P <33
Poz
The same thing is with European and AM Spanish. I speak Eu Spanish (I'm bilingual) and there are many words in AM Spanish that I don't know. You're right that Cyrillic is official, nevertheless, both Cyrillic and Latin alphabet are used officially in Serbia (I don't know why this is the case and I don't like it, I live in a crazy country). I also don't want to insult anyone, I love Croatia and Croatian music and I wish we could all get on well with each other. I'm just stating the facts. Pozdrav
'And u can't compare it with Brit and Am english cause they have like 100% same words!'
Oh, but you are wrong about this. The difference in vocabulary use is maybe even greater between BRIT and AM English than between Serbian and Croatian. BRIT: pavement, bonnet, boot, bumper, car park, lorry, petrol, tap... = AMER: sidewalk, hood, trunk, fender, parking lot, truck, gas, faucet... I could go on like this forever.
I see, and yes, I've read something about the Croatian War, that's why I asked. I hope someday I can visit your country. Thank you again! Doviđenja...
It is a lie that Croatian and Serbian are different languages! They are linguistically the same. They can be regarded as different dialects of the same language (there are some differences in vocabulary and accent). I can perfectly use both Serbian and Croatian accent. In Serbian both cyrillic and Latin alphabet are used. The difference between Serb and Cro is the same as the difference between BRIT English and AM English. Do you regard these two variants of English as two different languages?
@13Behemoth Nemoj me driblat da ti moram držati predavanje o povijesti tvoga Srpskog jezika (Stefana Prvovenčanog Nemanjića i njegovoga brata Svetog Save [11./12. stoljeće]).
well i live in croatia and i know but don't know the language cause its damn hard. i dont really like it here ppl are selfish ad i want to go back to germany or somewhere far away
yes well it's very hard to learn...a lot of croatian's have problem with coratian language...i speak very good english ad i'm 15...so that shows you how easy is english...and croatian has really very much rules...
I live in America, and from the viewpoint of a foreigner English is a very difficult language to learn.
For example, your English is perfectly understandable, but grammatically it would be "Yes, well, it's very hard to learn. A lot of Croatians have problems with the Croatian language. I speak English very well and I'm 15. So that goes to show how easy English is. Croatian also has very many rules."
yes,but for a 15 year old i speak very good...and i can speak german too...but i know what you want to say....i don't know do you learn croatian but it takes much longer to learn croatian or serbian or something like that, than german or english...
I think the hardest part about a language like Croatian or Serbian is the accent. Since America has so many nationalities mixed in, everyone has a different accent and so many people with accents live here, we can all understand each other.
Yes I'am Italian my father is Italian (Calabrese) and my mother is Italian(Sicilian)but she she is also Croatian. .So therefore makes me two dilects of Italian and Croatian.
i have only breifely gone through all 15 video's but you have done so well with your explinations and tutorials i learnt alot very quickly, i am going to study these videos until i get it right!!!, thank you so much, AND YOUR ACCENT IF FINE if you didnt sound croation we wouldnt know how to pronounce words in a genuine croation accent, who agrees?
I also want to learn Croatian, because this way I would also learn Serbian, Bosnian, and Montenegrin. Who says that learning a language is a bad thing?
hey, dont get me wrong but croats are not iranian brothers. the theory we have iranian blood came when yugoslavia feel apart and that way they wanted an excuse to say we and serbians are two completly different nations.there is also a theory that croatians are goths and by that we would be german brothers.we are a slavic nation, with slavic language and slavic culture and mixed blood cause many nations reached balkans(turks,mongols,avars,huns,itallians,vikings,..)enjoy learning cro:)
A couple of years back I bought a Sebo-Croatian dicitionary. I was wanting to sit down and learn; however at the time I studying three dialect of Native American language at the time.
awesome! Great vids! i love em ^^ i wanted to learn Croatian so bad! i already speak English, French, Italian and my 1st language is Spanish... so its not that hard 4 me! Thanks a lot
Well i speak English since i was like 1 year old... so it's my 2nd language. With French i started when i was 9 i speak it really well but i still need vocabulary (in August im gonna b living in France so i'll improve it a lot :)
I just started with italian like 5 months ago and its like Spanish... its not that hard.
Maybe i'll make some Spanish lessons online... i've started a course to teach Spanish as a 2nd language :P
Puno hvala, its too helpfull for me

then...is it just me or croatian has very few words with the letter F ?
i know the verb "furam" maybe it comes from "furati" but i dont know what it means, google translate doesn't say anything
then the work "faki" (a bolesna braca song) still don't know the meaning...
besides the meaning...they are the only words with F in croatian that i know or i have heard...is it just me?
SZ19891993 8 months ago
@SZ19891993 I don't know how many words are there in Croatian that start with an F, but we don't discriminate that letter :P. Bolesna braca songs are not the best place to learn Croatian :P. "Faki" is not a Croatian words, it's a Croatian adaptation of an English word (f*ck). It is slang, so... yeah.
wepef3D 8 months ago
@wepef3D yeah i expected it from bolesna, but they are funny as hell...about croatian adaptations...you got many of these...many english words adapted in croatian, that's kinda cool...
in the dictionary,i noticed that many f words are not croatian origin...for example fotografija fiziologia filzofia etc...thanks for answering and to tell me the meaning of faki, now i understand...thanks a lot dude!
SZ19891993 8 months ago
@SZ19891993 there's plenty, but only croatians use them because, you know, it's our native language
almost all slavic languages lack the words that start with -f
it's normal

Croatia is very fascinating country in many ways and Croatian pronouncing is similar to finnish as every letter always gets pronounced the same way no matter where they are :) We also have about the same population. Looking forward to visit Croatia one day.

13Behemoth 11 months ago
@MrEgonn8427 Lupetaš i mešaš babe i žabe.

I see that fellow has good intentions, to teach people the Croatian language.
I can say that it may be enough for small talk with many errors in speech and writing, but enough to understand.
There are many grammatical and spelling errors but as I said, enough to start.
Do not be surprised if you see someone laugh when you use Croatian in this way, but it is sweet when someone tries. :D

Pozdrav
13Behemoth 2 years ago
'And u can't compare it with Brit and Am english cause they have like 100% same words!'
Oh, but you are wrong about this. The difference in vocabulary use is maybe even greater between BRIT and AM English than between Serbian and Croatian. BRIT: pavement, bonnet, boot, bumper, car park, lorry, petrol, tap... = AMER: sidewalk, hood, trunk, fender, parking lot, truck, gas, faucet... I could go on like this forever.
13Behemoth 2 years ago
I see, and yes, I've read something about the Croatian War, that's why I asked. I hope someday I can visit your country. Thank you again! Doviđenja...
Loupcoeur 2 years ago
It is a lie that Croatian and Serbian are different languages! They are linguistically the same. They can be regarded as different dialects of the same language (there are some differences in vocabulary and accent). I can perfectly use both Serbian and Croatian accent. In Serbian both cyrillic and Latin alphabet are used. The difference between Serb and Cro is the same as the difference between BRIT English and AM English. Do you regard these two variants of English as two different languages?
13Behemoth 2 years ago
egonn8427 1 year ago
13Behemoth 1 year ago
13Behemoth 1 year ago
13Behemoth 1 year ago
13Behemoth 1 year ago
@13Behemoth Nemoj me driblat da ti moram držati predavanje o povijesti tvoga Srpskog jezika (Stefana Prvovenčanog Nemanjića i njegovoga brata Svetog Save [11./12. stoljeće]).

croatianboy14 2 years ago
I live in America, and from the viewpoint of a foreigner English is a very difficult language to learn.
For example, your English is perfectly understandable, but grammatically it would be "Yes, well, it's very hard to learn. A lot of Croatians have problems with the Croatian language. I speak English very well and I'm 15. So that goes to show how easy English is. Croatian also has very many rules."
FreFreChan 2 years ago
yes,but for a 15 year old i speak very good...and i can speak german too...but i know what you want to say....i don't know do you learn croatian but it takes much longer to learn croatian or serbian or something like that, than german or english...
croatianboy14 2 years ago
I think the hardest part about a language like Croatian or Serbian is the accent. Since America has so many nationalities mixed in, everyone has a different accent and so many people with accents live here, we can all understand each other.

hey, dont get me wrong but croats are not iranian brothers. the theory we have iranian blood came when yugoslavia feel apart and that way they wanted an excuse to say we and serbians are two completly different nations.there is also a theory that croatians are goths and by that we would be german brothers.we are a slavic nation, with slavic language and slavic culture and mixed blood cause many nations reached balkans(turks,mongols,avars,huns,itallians,vikings,..)enjoy learning cro:)
