  • I like this video because it shows your inking station. It is great to see how you load the brush- fascinating.

  • Why did you dab your hand on the painting?

  • SICK

  • it was butefull at the start later you messt it up big time

  • Hi Kazu,

your painting are AWESOME!!!!! but i have a little question about ink.

I cant find any pre-made ink in a bottle, so shoud i store my own for future use?

    Thanks,

    Len

  • hi! i love this video! lots of skill..

in the beginning, when you draw very thin lines that forms the fish head, well .. when i try to do that my brush creates two lines instead of one.. i mean the end of the brush is not aligned in one thin point like yours.. do you think it is a problem with my brush or my technique? (im a begginner)

thanks for the video, amazing! :)

  • While I do understand the concept behind of sumi-e painting, there is no reason to bash western painting because they do it differently. There are many ways to praise an artwork/style, criticizing another one is not one way.

  • Dear Kazushimura:

I was very sad reading some of these bad comments. For those who think you are not creative enough I would suggest viewing all the videos you have subscribed.

Other than that, criticism that lack constructive comments should not be posted and as far my limited knowledge of Zen budism goes, no zen master would approve such thing.

Seeing your work is always a pleasure.

  • such simplicity is most beautiful in my eyes- great work

  • what kind of sumi brushes are you using? i cant find any that will maintain an angle like that

  • It's always a pleasant experience watching your sumi-e videos.

You handle the brush with such grace but with a decisiveness and confidence that makes it look easy and beautiful. I really like the brush techniques.

Regardless, thank you so much for sharing these and I hope you continue to do so :O

  • i simply love you kazushimura do not pay attention to envy critics!! you rock!!

  • It doesn't metter if he is copying! He's just showing to people like me how to paint!I'm a very visual person and I don't really like reading,it's a lot more pleasant to watch someone doing something you want to learn how to,the way he holds the brash ,how is drying it to have less ink, etc.

Good point though-it would've better with comments and explanations what and why is done the way it is.

Kazushimura thank you very much for upload!!!

  • Such negative comments saying how he is copying. Well i say even if he uses a book it takes great talent to make such a picture i bet if i gave these people that exact book and the same tools they could not create a picture half as great 5/5

  • I'm not an artist, nor am I a critique, however I will make a comment. I think its rather nice. Keep up the good work.

  • do it better

  • you have no idea what sumie is. It's a zen painting, focusing on simplicity and endless lines. It's not about "originality" or any competition (that American/western artists are so overtly focused on) --Sumie is never the same, so him using an image which could be 1000's of years old as a reference b/c it's painted by a MASTER doesnt mean shit - if you can capture the energy of an entity with a single stroke, through a sumie brush... Honestly just dont limit your judgments to TV programs ok?

  • i agree with you. however i think his work is good but not entirely sumi-e style

  • mate you are really ignorant to make such a comment. There is one thing alone to prove you wrong.

    Bonsai: Kimura

If you really think he's just sticking to plans and has no creativity........ you're just plain weird.

  • Talk during demo and explain what is happening for easy understanding.

  • After viewing your video again I can see why you are so sensitive to questions about the tail of the fish in your work; It's atrocious! You technique in general is clumsy and heavy handed. You should receive more instructions if you wish to become even marginally proficient.

  • Damn, I'm all for keeping it real, but that was pretty rough, and from someone who's credentials are............................

Everyone develops their own techniques, that is why Picasso is different than Monet, or Hopper.

Dave Chapelle's - When keeping it real goes wrong; might be worth you time to watch.

    Just saying

  • " I don't like people playing on my phone."

i think the koi is really good

  • I think so as well

  • you are so skilled, Do you know how to draw manga? im just a begginer and that would be cool if you have a tutorial on that

  • The tails of fish done in sumi-e never seem to be in proper proportion to the fish. Is this intentional?

  • That is because you are a moron that has no clue about perspective, or artistic intent.

  • awesome. Good job!

  • Your work is very beautiful.

I am here to study your painting and skills.

These are very interesting and quite informative. I appreciate your time in this.

  • Your paintings are beautiful and you make Sumi-e seem effortless, which it isn't.

I am just learning this technique and would like to know what type brush you use as it seems large compared to the ones I have.

  • hi,

this might be called chinese ink brush, made of weary hair. harder than calligraphy one. the length of hair is about 3 cm.

  • Lovely painting. I appreciate you showing us the little steps that take place with the ink stone. My only request is that it would be nice if in the next video the camera was a touch more stable, so that it doesn't shake or blur out of focus every now and then.

  • Wonderful to see how you work with the brush, water and ink - Thank you.

  • Amazing. Good job! ^ ^

  • Beautiful, thank you for sharing.
