It might be the oldest in routine daily service but there is a bus from circa 1927 which does (or at least used to do) special tours.

These buses are..WERE... a menance to everyone concernced.. primitive, rude, undisciplined drivers... drive dangerously, honking at and barging towards other drivers on the road.. spewing smoke and polluting the island!.. People I'm sure go to Malta to enjoy the cafés, beaches and the nice weather...I'd be gawking at the buses. Sad to hear they are going into retirement. I certainly hope bus apprecianados become proud owners of these beauties & keep them healthy and rolling...

@mellotrongirl hey girl.. bet you have never been sworn at by these 'proud owners' LOL.. or have you ever given them a euro and they didn't bother to give you the change... or didn't stop for you when you were on the bus stop because the driver was in a hurry... or drive around like a maniac not even bothering to stop at a red light when you were a passenger on it.. or driver keeps rolling slowly while you try to jump off the bus... Guess we can stuff nostalgia.

I love these Buses too ! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news to everyone, but as of June 2011 these great buses will be no more :(

The bus service is being taken over by Arriva and they are replacing these with new buses, I think it will be a terrible loss to Malta !

You have to admit that old  1938 bus ,keeps on running , now that was a good year , I was born Sept 1938, and at 72 , still come to Malta A lot , & will be there in March. Singing Karaoke at the Little Waster Pub , in Qawra, look us up. ~ Arthur

a couple old buses should be converted into cafes or bars and placed at the valletta bus terminus. i have seen some old trams in prague turned into cafes. they look amazing....

if they`re converted into cafes they`re ruined because of they`re unique shape,import better diesel and reduce traffic and the emissions will dissapeear

fantastic lol. at 00:17 it stops outside the sliema chalet hotel ive stayed there twice recently, it brought back memories. i hope to be back there next week :D ive been on the 64 as well, its a nice ride from sliema to valetta.

actually the oldest bus is the dby 401 which is from 1932:leyland ts

Nope mate, there is only one Thames left in service, EBY537.

The other is Ford V8 EBY636 (with Dodge front) which has recently re-entered in service.

And this, FBY661, a Willys 6 (with Dodge front).

Would REALLY love it more if the owner takes better care of this beauty!!
