  • The shirts got baggier and the hair bigger but the tunes were as tight as ever

  • 93 troglodites....

  • You go Smokey! A great classic!

  • diddy no like

  • We need more Funk Brothers music today. Other than Ben Harper or maybe John Legend, who's gonna sing to it though? DAMN I miss real music!!!!!!!!!!

  • thumbs up if im coming home brought you here and then you went WTF!

  • @TheBoo182 haha yep...but it is quite interesting, nonetheless. =)

  • Fantastic song, fantastic artist!!!!

  • awesome

  • I'm here bcos of Diddy :D

  • Why is there dislikes on this song??

  • @LILB1561 hahahaha. I bet he did.

  • reminds me of chicago when i was young....

  • Ooh snap go smokey

  • amazing! wot a voice, u think he would win x factor????

  • @shaunybull1 probably no, but those shirts have a chance on project runway

  • @TheFriendofcarlotta >>> LOL!

  • @odiedodi . He doesnt actually hate this song. In his song he is sing about how his wife or girlfriend or whatever has left him and how he has to act like he is fine with it because of his fame. Which would sound really familiar cause thats the same shit that Smokey Robinson is singing about in this song. He hates it because it hits him at an emotional level because it is what he is dealing with (i.e I always feel like they are talking about me when it comes on").

  • 54 ppl cry like a clown

  • damn diddy, i hate this song aswell

  • i agree with diddy hahaha

  • @LJDMH95

  • Lol, i only heaar cos of 'Coming Home' =')

  • This version is a little faster, prefer the slower version.I've adored this song since 1970.

  • @1hatelife Me too :)

'I hear the tears of a clown, I hate that song, I always feel like they're talking to me when it comes on.'

But 'Coming home' is once amazing song!!

  • @jigabooization oh i understand it, it's just a bad song and in your comment recently posted you made it out to sound like you dislike this song and therefor it begs the question, why did you search up this masterpiece of music to argue about a piece of crap that happened to mention this tune in it?

  • @TheAngryCommentsGuy u know wat wat do u think his song is about? thtss all im gunna say since u know exactly what it means. tell me

  • @jigabooization well i never said nor implied that i knew what it meant but what i think it means is clowns are supposed to be happy.. they're always putting on an act and entertaining people.. so "tears of a clown" means when you put on a happy face to please people, but deep down, you are upset

  • @TheAngryCommentsGuy ok...thats nice but i meant the song you called shitty im comin home? thats what i have been talking about during this convo

  • Great song. I remember back in 1970 when I first heard it did not impress me but after a while it grew on me.

  • @raponte1955 I first say it with the Music video showing vietnam. It reminded me when my father told us stories of the soliders coming from Vietnam injured. He worked on a naval base during the war.

  • @MrMessyb Not this video the Music video for this song. I use to never like it myself it was SAD. BUT It is a GREAT video.

  • @emmettk I think if you watched the music video for this song it might explain. If they made another video he probably thinks they are talking about him on the sad part.

  • @MrMessyb Not this video but the music video to this song.

  • @MrMessyb Listen to the lyrics and the video they made for this song. Maybe Diddy feels he would be on the part that states.. Theres...sad....

If Smoket made a remake of this song.

  • @MrSparkleTits Fully

  • go on smokes =[]

  • Good live vocals! Billboard's 285th #1 hit of the rock era. God bless ya, brother Smokey! RIP, Pete Moore.

  • 48 people are fucked in the head and deserve to die painfully

  • lol

  • @6teen1o1 P. Diddy has never had an original idea of his own for a song ever. if he has it sucked. He cant rap and his biggest hit "Ill be missing you" about his dead friend biggie was even the stolen beat and music of another song previously made. He has always tried to copy other people and now is copying Kanyes look. the man just needs to give it up already

  • @ravensown24 but why is he going to give up if he's making money off of all this? o.O as long as people buy his songs original or not he's gonna keep cranking out music

  • Another great Motown song

  • Great song, and a real performance, very cool

I'm going to try to ignore people referencing that hiphop guy that steals other people's ideas because he's not had an original one his entire life

  • Glenn Beck's personal anthem.

  • This song was 40 years ago no.10 in the world charts #smokey #robinson #and #the #miracles

  • Regardless of how ppl become aware of this song whether puff incorporates it into his lyrics or they do their musical history, it's great that smokey is being recognized by today's generation as it shows the level of talent that existed not too long ago.

  • I think that half of the views, were done after the people have listened to Coming home from diddy...

  • @TheGoodManager Yep thats the only reason why Im listening to it=)

  • I don´t know what ... but he´s got it.

The boyish voice of this 30year old man makes female hearts melt.

  • i hate this song, i always feel like its talking to me, when it comes on

  • i want to do this song with my keyboard, but i don't know which keys to press

  • OBAMA half-brother!!!

  • Love timeless classic's like this!!!!

  • @myklswag ahhaahhaaha me too xD

  • thats a very beautiful choon right there:)

  • you can hear the bassoon

  • "tears of a clown.....i hate that song, makes me feel like they talkin to me whenever it comes on" - diddy dirty money :)

  • Would you believe me if I told you I was Smokey Robinson? And that I listen to my own music on youtube and leave comments?

  • @slayxbax because e feels like his talking to him

  • Can you imagine being a little whitish kid in the 70's USA ,hearing this, and going OMG!!!

  • my grandma was in love with Smokey Robinson!! and still IS!!

  • stevie wonder wrote this song for them

  • This song was 40 years ago no.2 in the world charts #smokey #robinson #and #the #miracles

  • To me the UK version sounds better.

  • your all soo wrong. the funk brothers were the best writers in motown. they practically wrote the genre and they got no recognition at all. the had more no.1's than the beatles, michael jackson and elvis. the wrote every great motown track. stevie wonder may of co wrote the lyrics but it is the FUNK BROTHERS that we should all truley respect for they're gift of music that they have given us

  • @vhudalex ,the funk brothers were not the writers, they played the instruments big difference, it was a team, the writers, the singers, the funk brothers, everyone contributed, the songs were unique, the voices of the singers were unique, the tempts, the tops, the miracles, marvin gaye, stevie wonder, supremes, none of the motown acts sounded like anyone who came before them, they each had their own sound

  • @vhudalex ,The funk brothers were not the writers at motown. They played the instruments, they were NOT THE WRITERS.

  • the looks i got singing this whilst driving around in my car i dont think people realise that us youngster know what good music is.

  • He looks like Ali, just not beaten up. Did he Died?

  • This song was 40 years ago no.2 in the world charts #smokey #robinson #and #the #miracles

  • @LittleSweety ,no this song was no. 1 on the R&B charts and no. 1 on the Pop charts.

  • @tuzwol but not worldwide 40 years ago exact in this week

  • @LittleSweety ,bottomline is when this song was released it peaked at number 1 on both the R&B and Pop charts

  • Smokey knows! Instant Karma didn’t kill Lennon – the CIA did, if u LUV music spread this truth, 2 INCREASE the PEACE like JOHN did, watch?v=akTM4CiKMcA - (Thumb this 2 the top 2 FIGHT da MAN!)

  • They even jigged to this in North Korea.

  • Fabulous to say the least.

  • This song was 40 years ago no.8 in the world charts #smokey #robinson #and #the #miracles

  • Ohhh I am young again .... dancing my feet off .... Smokey Rules!!!!!

  • is that tony todd on background vocals?

  • To 40 people who dislikes Smokey; get a freaking life! Damn!!!

  • This era was the peak of American success.

  • This song was 40 years ago no.10 in the world charts #smokey #robinson #the #miracles

  • i mean the men, the myths, the LEGENDS!!!!

smokey and the miracles mowtown lives

  • I always thought a woman sang this tune!

  • I know, right? Those shirts!

  • klasse song 1970 - so viele träume mit 13!

  • WE LOVE YOU SMOKIEY!!!!!

  • Oh wow ... those shirts.

  • @ShannonDWaltrip i was just thinking about how FUNKY those shirts were. Wonder who designed them?

  • I've adored that song since I was 15,so long ago.

  • Smokey Kinda looks like Terrence Howard

  • @jc57680 agreed

  • iopened for smokey in 1970 in van BC ..

    never forget it

  • @kanrihan77

    Respect for you, mate.

  • i love his voice..i remember when i was a kid i thought he was a woman from his voice, lol..

  • just listened to English Beat version...I love English Beat...Smokey does it better! and I'm over 40.

  • Kinda feel sad for the 40 (as of this posting) ppl who "thumbed down" this classic. I can perhaps understand it not being your style or whatever...but man...how can ya thumb down Smokey??? I mean...it's Smokey!!! Oh well.... thumbs a mile UP from me ~♫ KK

  • look my dude ripping the script who is one of the ulimate pioneers of motown alongside with barry gordy he is a genius who changed r and b forever i know he created some big stars in motown like the temptations but i believe he created others but i am not really sure but i am sure that i will not get tired of listening to his jams this is one of his very best songs ever next to cruise which is probably my favorite song of his which is in my opinion possibly the best song of the decade

  • Absolutely love mowtown, Smokey is one big reason why, brilliant!

  • best song EVER!!!!!

  • who the hell would thumb this down?

  • the wall of sound

  • what a cool band always loved this song

  • Did you know this song is co-written by Stevie Wonder?! The two GREATEST writers for Motown...

  • @dabighen And The Funk Brothers !!!! Love It Danny !!!!

  • @dabighen i would never say Smokey and Stevie were the best writers for Motown without saying they are a distant second behind the team of HDH. you just can't go there without tipping your hat to HDH first. even though Tears of a Clown is my fav rocking it out song from Hitsville...(me a,18 yr old white guy from Chi-town).

  • @CHUCKLOVES1969 I respectfully disagree. No one matched the writing hits that Smokey Robinson had and Stevie Wonder wrote songs that were stolen by others, as well as writing for other folks when people didn't realize it was him. HDH had their greatest success with the Supremes. After them, they were merely average at best. However, MOTOWN RULES!!!!

  • @dabighen ,no one stole Smokey or Stevie's songs. HDH were motowns most successful producers. They had hits with the Supremes, the Four Tops,Martha Reeves and The Vandellas,Marvin Gaye. They wrote more numers 1's than anyone at motown. Dont forget about Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong, motown had alot of talented writers and producers ont he label,SMokey was more famous because he was a successful artists at the time as well, but no one had more #1's than HDH

  • @dabighen Don't forget Stevie's producer. He helped too.

  • @dabighen i've heard that Rick James, was the' secret weapon' for writing for company, as well?

  • @MrJeffreydunson He did indeed write for Motown, but NO WHERE at the level of Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson. He came around during the lean years of Motown.

  • @dabighen oh, ok didn't know that bit of info, Thanks, dabighen.

  • D'accord: j'avoue que j'ai cent ans - et qu' à l'époque j'aimais ce titre. Aujourd'hui, avec UN PEU de distance - je dois dire que ce titre...enfin... comment dirais-je...ehhmmmm...ouä...

  • I love this song, not just the music, but what he's actually saying is so true and isn't talked about at all in other pop music. Simply because men being sad isn't sexy, but it's true and worth talking about.

  • @ThwartedVillainy you must be a girl

  • @stallion0308 I'm a dude. I'm telling the truth. There's a reason suicide is the biggest killer of young men in America and it's that macho bullshit about being stone faced that is one of the root causes.

So either you've been lucky enough to never experience any sadness in your life (i.e. you've never had a girlfriend who fucked with your head and wrecked your life) or you're just a douche.

    That is all.

  • @ThwartedVillainy Same here in the Uk, had a guy 2 doors down from me hanghimself a few months ago because of financial troubles.

If only he looked for help his wife and kids would still have him around.

  • @TheChalkychalk Exactly. Men are raised to hide all our emotions from people, so women assume we don't have any and don't feel bad about completely shitting on our lives or not comforting us when times are hard. This whole "stiff upper lip" crap is fine, to a point.

I mean, I'm at a point now where I no longer need anyone to comfort me or help me out, but that's only through years of trials and challenges where nobody thought to help me because I put on the mask like Smokey's talking about.

  • @ThwartedVillainy story of my life, thumbs up for your comment :)
